Maybe there’s such a thing as being “too” dedicated to your server. I mean if you balance out your time so you’re making money some of the time and spending money some of the time, instead of doing the “right” thing all the time, you’ll probably be better off financially.

You spend some time flipping camps, which helps your side anyway, you spend a bit of time with the zerg, you build up your resources and then you spend them on whatever upgrades you want. It’s actually part of the game.

No one should have the money to freely upgrade all the time.

The OP suggests the WvW is a cash sink because he plays it in the way which is probably guaranteed to make the least money, while at the same time putting down the ways in WvW he could make money.

Seems to me this is a problem more of perception than of reality.

I do all those things and I upgrades as well. If they made upgrades cost karma instead of cash it would end the cash sink to wvw since your gaining karma flipping camps anyway.

That’s actually an interesting idea. Maybe you should throw that up in suggestions.

WvW could have easily used a different currency for blueprints and upgrades, though.

There is, it’s called… free? Costs a little time is all. I sometimes drop them just because I need more bag space for loot drops.

Those parts from my post that you deleted, they’re called “context”. Free blueprints have nothing to do with it.

In the game of GW2, if I want to do Warrior things, I specialize as Warrior, if I want to do Engineer things, I specialize as Engineer. There is no such way to distinguish yourself in WvWvW. You either follow the zerg, or you roam around ganking people for the lulz. Your ability to build siege machinery or upgrade keeps is a function of your wallet size.

WvWvW traits should have solved this, yet they’re even more laughable. A couple of barely noticeable DPS increases against various target types, and… one actual specialist ability, the capacity to carry more supply. Rank 1 of this trait costs 20 points while every other rank 1 trait costs 1 point long, slow, sarcastic clapping

User was infracted for being awesome.

Dungeon running is huge cash. Spvp no repair bill for dying. WvW unless you just follow the herd and flip camps is a giant cash sink. They need to allow karma and/or badges to be used for upgrades. No other aspect of the game cost you money to do.

when i first hit 80 i had about 150k karma saved up, the first thing i did was go and buy invader’s rare quality gear from a WvW vendor, also today I just bought an accessory for 200 badges, did you not know these existed?

Well OP, what exactly do you need cash for? Once you have everything then you’d just pile up money and have nothing to do with it and no great reason to keep playing (as complaining about cash makes it seem like you only play to be rich).

I could spend 40-50 days making 10g a day and then buy the rest of the stuff I want to make my character “complete” but then what’s left for me?

Fornicate like you’ve never fornicated before.
I am anti-censorship, for it doesn’t make sense to pander to a minority.

Even before the recent Wxp changes I noticed that the player base was developing indifference towards defense and the need to upgrade most things that do not require a WP unless there was a giant zerg rolling around.

My first two months in WvW was a team effort in most aspects; defense, offense, cost, supplies, and siege. When someone looked at a camp people would come to fight and defend the area. Now it just seems like everyone just waits to slide by with zerg unless the chance to catch the “bad guys” might lead to a big ego thrusting wipe, in which case a fight might ensue in defense of a place.

When this attitude started to grow, my investment in upgrades started to shrink. I can’t afford to fund my server if they don’t think it is a priority to defend my investment.

…I still do upgrades and lay down siege now and then, but I don’t do every single one I come by any longer. It is not worth it.

Not quite sure what your refering to since you quoted me then went on to make a totally differnt point. My point was allowing you to use karma for upgrades.
