Why missions for guilds?
Inform yourself then decide if you have reason to complain. Thanx.

Well, those 500 mb are hard to take. I really hope next time you put some fun content for us, solo players, too.
Everything short of dungeons (and some champions, depending on your build) and sPVP (I guess) can be done solo, without a guild or party… >.>

There are several casual guilds that are set to start researching these that don’t require you to be “owned by a guild leader”. Its fairly easy to join those or a mega guild while still playing solo as much as you want.

Haha, nice try but I still have the generic lore excuse!

The small guild people have been complaining about this for days now. I was wondering when the no-guild people were going to show up……
I didn’t know my guild leader owned me. This is news to me…

That’s not really a reason.. Else we would have had GvG like GW1 did.
But nope.
My guild leader doesn’t “own” me. There is plenty of content for solo players, you have the ENTIRE world, sPvP, and some WvW stuff you can do. This is a MMO (massively multiplayer online). It’s not really meant to be played solo, but Anet is nice and gave you a lot of options for that.
You can also take part in these guild missions, you just can’t choose when, where, or what kind. You just have to stumble across a guild that is announcing them or it’s in process.
… I find it mind boggling, people who want solo RPG’s there are MUCH better single player ones.
This is a Massivly Multiplayer Online RPG….
Why shouldn’t guilds have content designed for a group?
I dont think its anyones fault here if you don’t like being social in a multiplayer focused game.

By offering a variety of content, we can have a game that lots of people can enjoy. There’s a lot of content out there, but there’s not a whole lot of things for a coordinated group to do larger than 5 people to do. Guild missions were made to remedy that.

It seems to go against the scaling nature that has been built into a lot of GW2. You add in a cool new content system for guilds, but it is gated to a high level. We all know you and the rest of the staff have been hearing this over and over – just hope you’ll do something about it. Releasing it as-is also goes against other additions ANet provides. It’s not scaled. It is a way to “get something” but to do that you must be in a larger guild. There is no scaling in a system that dun dun duuuun provides possible precursors and that is the failure of this content system. You as a company had to know there was going to be a lot of backlash with this particular addition.
“Just join a big guild” is not a solution, ANet.
For shame.

Great .. and to force players into huge guilds needed to unlock this stuff you put the rewards on Laurel vendors then utterly take the kitten by pricing them at absurd prices to effectively put them out of reach of those not in the huge mega-guilds you’ve designed this for.

You don’t have to be in a large guild to do them; people from outside your guild can participate. You only have to be in a guild to start the events. Guild events just require a large number of people for the most part.

There is nothing left for the 5 man groups to do anymore either, the dungeons and events can only be done so much before I want to punch a baby.

That makes perfect sense, thank you.
Kieran if you would like to experience the content without joining a guild please let me know. I am happy to message you with the date and time that my guild will be activating missions and you can participate in the same way that you participate in open world dynamic events — just by being present and joining in the activity.

How about stuff for guilds with around 50 players. I’ve heard T1 missions are good for 10 people…… if only they could generate the influence needed to get there.

Oh, come on. You could make the exact same arguments against dungeons. They do not scale, they force you to be of a certain level, and solo players are screwed. Or are you going to tell them to “Just join a 5 man pug”?
I find the given reason (viable gameplay options for all different kinds of players) perfectly valid.

How about NOT complaining about content being added for players who like other playstyles than you? It doesn’t harm you, influence you or even do anything at all, if you’re not in a guild. It’s a bonus if anything.

Hm, the dungeon bit is not quite the same. That doesn’t require joining a guild, just a group, and for a shorter time period. Certain level, yes, but that starts at level 35 (45, and so on). The potential rewards attainable are available through soloable means (money -> trading post; karma -> temple vendors).
I see the initial analogy, but it is not quite the same.

Which is random. About as good as a lot of the RNG issues in this game. It is essentially a semi-private upgraded dragon fight. If you don’t know it is happening, or where it could happen, or what time it is happening, or even if there people on your server are doing a particular one, then it doesn’t benefit a player at all. Which, as stated at the beginning, is just random.
I’d love to, and will as much as possible, “leech” off the big guilds just as we all use their banners in Cursed Shore, WvW and in front of dungeon entrances. But that’s a static location. Same as the dragons, and those have timers. This is player-based (and somewhat server-based) events.
No one, myself included, would care if it didn’t involve the chance of a precursor. That’s a big failing here. They didn’t add (or at least say they did) any other ways to get such a highly valued item(s). That’s what makes this gated content. Not the content itself, but the potential reward.

Jesus, people always find a way to complain. Thank god I’m not a game developer, my customers are actually mature and grateful.
I also dislike guilds and I play alone as well but I’m not complaining. Because it is MY choice to play alone… If you feel you’re missing out then join a guild, you’re choosing to play alone like I am so we can’t complain. If you want the missions then join a guild. If you don’t want to join a guild then don’t. Just don’t complain on the forums because it’s all down to the players choice weather to be apart of the content or not…
I just checked the requirements and I wonder how a guild with at least 10 active players actually manages not to be able to unlock art of war level 5.
