World Populations decreasing?
i have no source, but i believe this was intentional to encourage server transfers prior to guesting
They lifted the server caps about a week before they instituted paid transfers, then lifted them again when paid transfers went live so that transfers would be cheaper.
If anything the population is increasing.
Thanks for the explanation! That’s good news!

I’ve noticed recently (since Jan 28th patch?) that the world populations seem to be decreasing, at least for NA servers. There are no Full servers, and where there used to be just a few High compared to Very High, there is now sometimes about 60/40 Very High/High.
I’m not trying to say the sky is falling. I’m just curious. Is this a reflection of population changes? Has ANet upped the capacity per server?
We created more capacity a little while ago guesting went up live to allow more chances for people to move around their home worlds if they wished to do so. In game population wise, you’ll be excited to know login numbers and peak concurrency numbers have been slowly going up or staying consistent depending on the day going on 6 weeks in a row now. We’re very excited to see that =)

I can def see that on my server (Ferg crossing), maybe since we have never been ‘full’ we got a lot of the new players when the other servers were full. However since the holidays there is a very noticeable increase in population on our server. The starting zones are pack and i’ve haven’t seen so many people in orr since launch.
Congrats on the success, i am certainly enjoying the game!
Yeah, zones are really filling up again. Very excited for the future of this game
Now just get the wvw queue problems sorted out!(shakes angry fist)

This is awesome news. I know on my server this is definitely true. I’m leveling up an alt and I consistently see people all over the world. And It takes a good 30-40 minutes to get into LA from the overflow even at 7:00 AM server time.

Hey Colin, can you give us that famous smile of yours when you say “Fastest growing MMO ever made” <3
While I’m not a fan of these threads that bring into question the game’s population it’s also the first of its kind to receive a red post. I think bumping this back to the first page will keep people from making new “OMG the game is dying” threads. I’m not so shocked by the threads themselves as I am by the lack of originality by the original posters.
I had an interesting experience this morning. Logged in early and went to LA to do some crafting. Map chat was really quiet. I decided to go to Cursed Shore in Orr to run the Penitent Tunnel area for my monthly events and to get items to salvage. Got in a party almost immediately and there were lots of people there. It was so crowded that 2 of the party members left to find somewhere less crowded. I have run the Tunnel before and it was never this busy. There was also a group trying to open Grenth. My server is Dragonbrand.
