I don’t see the appeal of Eternity. It’s never going to be the perfect fit for a build with such contrasting visuals at night and day. And the only time ppl will even know it’s not Sunrise or Twilight is when you link it in chat. I don’t really get it. So $$$

Eternity’s pommel glows as well as having glowy orbs in the footfalls, whereas Sunrise and Twilight do not. It’s actually quite easy to tell when someone has Eternity and when they do not.

I won’t stop because I can’t stop.

It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….

I think POI’s are the worse, the best being way points and Hero points, especially with HoT elite’s around the corner.

Some of the POI’s are this tiny clear square buried in some mountain. It never fails when I am one objective away from map completion it always is a POI, and I end up hunched over the keyboard, zooming in and combing through the map for it.

Also the new Hero point emblem is quite obscure.

They’re both highly annoying and I’ll go another way if there’s somebody near me swinging that sword into my face. I prefer to see what I’m doing.

To OP: I had completed my world map long before I reached WvW lvl14. Luckily, when I crafted my legendary (simply because I wanted at least one, so I picked the cheapest), that lvl14 in WvW wasn’t required yet… The worst for me was doing that dungeon over and over and over and over and over….

I usually like world completions, but if getting around the new HoT maps at night is going to be more or less impossible due to the high volume of enemies and control effects, especially once the initial run on the maps is over and no one is out there any longer, then I can see it being a huge pain for legendary crafting in general.

At least the maps in the core Tyria areas can be completed even if you’re the only player on it.

While I do not have a legendary weapon, I love mapping and have completed it with 12 character. It is just fun for me.

People that completed mapping on GW1 now how hard that was. I NEVER want to do that again since it was totally blind.

Honestly. While i’m semi new to the game, i find the idea of having to complete the entire map to be able to craft a legendary absolutely mind numbing.. And not very “legendary” at all. So i won’t be doing that. I’d rather just grind gold then grind hearts and way points.

Plus, looking at some of the exotics, i find them to be more appealing.

Some exotic skins are way more “legendary” than actual legendaries.

Just sayin’.

Well map completion is much more legendary like than getting the precursor the most reliable way (mystic toilet). However, I too don’t like most of the legendaries so my main uses an ascended Xanthum.

Currently working on my Sunrise too and definitely have to disagree.

For me, world completion was the most fun and enjoyable part of the process. I loved it and can’t wait to do it again. So much to see and do, and so many things going on around Tyria. Definitely worth doing.

What’s not so enjoyable are the other things:

*WVW wasn’t as bad as I’d feared, though I generally hate that side of the game.
*Charged Lodestones are a beast. I still need about 45, and the price is going to cripple me
*T6 mats, oh the T6 mats! Yes, enough said.
*Bloodstone Shard. I burned through most of my spirit shards making my clovers, so I am currently working on getting back to 200 to buy the Bloodstone Shard.
*Ascalonian Catacombs! I am not in a big or active guild, so I need to PUG. I must either be the most unlucky person on the planet, or I am a jinx. Either I cannot find a group at all, or the group cannot make it past the spider queen. In 3 weeks of trying, I have 267 tears, (many of which I have shed myself). This, for me, has been one of the worst elements of the whole thing. With the announced changes to dungeons I feel even less confident about getting this finished now.

So, back on point, my view is very different from yours. I found plenty of other things that have been way more horrid. World completion, by comparison, was an absolute pleasure!

I’m relatively new also (restarted the game in August), and until about 3 days ago I didn’t know world completion had anything to do with legendary/ascended gear. I’m not the materialistic type, so gear is not a motivator for me. For the most part, I couldn’t care less about having the latest/greatest/flashiest gear or weapons. As long as it looks decent, covers all the essential bits and does the job I need it to do, I’m ok with it.

I don’t raid, I don’t PvP or WvW and I haven’t done any dungeons/fractals. Since I solo 99% of the time (by choice), I probably won’t do any dungeons unless I can solo them.

I say all that to explain why I, personally, am attempting to do World Complete and why I don’t think it is “the worst” (in answer to the OP). I’m doing it because I find it enjoyable… 90% of the time. I truly enjoy exploring and experiencing the vast, varied and beautiful world of Tyria. Getting recognition (EXP and AP) for my travels is nice, too. The only part I despise is vistas. If it weren’t for vistas, I’d probably do it on several characters.

I dig it, working on my 4th, but like others I take my time and integrate it with leveling a new toon. Only part I hated was WvW when I was stuck on a vista for completion that took weeks to get but that’s a mute point now.

I’d hate to try and burn through it though. I could see myself getting over it quickly then.

If your having adventurer problems I feel bad for you son, I dodged 99 arrows till my knee took one.

Just crafted Sunrise (cos I’m a kitten). Here’s my feedback on it.

The good: having to get WvW rank to 14 forced me to play WvW and I really like it. So that was a pleasant surprise.

The Meh: It’s mostly a gold farm really. And an Ecto farm is you know your dungeons ^^

The horrendous: World Completion.

So World Completion. First off, here’s some ideas for improvements.

1. Hearts could have red rings on the map, marking their effective zones.
2. The mini map could have the same level of detail as the world map.

My advice to people thinking about crafting a legendary: Just buy it instead. World completion is a kittening nightmare. People will say things like “it’s easy” which it is. but it’s also a 100 hour mind numbingly boring grind; it’s the worst seriously. And I know some kittenheads will be like “100 hours!? scoff scoff, I do world completion in 1 hour and 15 minutes using nothing but my rock hard kitten for the keyboard controls” the kittens.

Anyway, that’s how I feel about it. Now to craft Twilight and make $$$ off Eternity

You think it’s bad and frustrating in GW2? Try doing the same thing in GW1 with no map editor. lol@ 100 hours. Took me a year to just do Cantha proper until I found an editor/overlay/whatever the cool kids call them to highlight areas that haven’t been unexplored.

Mind you, that was also BEFORE YouTube was this huge giant filled with “how-to’s”, Google turned up tons of guides, and the Wiki for GW1 wasn’t as comprehensive as it is today. Map completion in GW2 is a cakewalk.

I find world exploration and completition fun and enjoyable. it’s a nice thing to do when just wandering around the world.
if you want to do it fast it will really be a long chore though.
