World transfer, PvE and World Completion

As a PvE player the only way I managed to get my world completion done is by transferring servers twice. This was the solution given to us PvE players to accomplish world completion by PvP players and others. My original server was not bad at PvP but there was no way they could capture the entire map (all 3 borderlands + Eternal Battlegrounds.)

Now I’m actually at my 4th server which I decided to join because my original server was full and a few friends of mine had just picked up GW2 and had started playing on this current server.

The problem of PvE players accomplishing world completion has been brought up before, with no serious response from ANET and response from the player base as being “either play my playstyle or get out.” Now with the non-free transfers it has become even harder for PvE players to complete the map.
This not only affects PvE players but also those who enjoy PvP but find themselves in servers which are not so good at it. The solution of “become better at it” does not really work because from what I’ve seen, these servers are more filled with people who do not have an interest in PvP.

In a game that aims to embrace and enhance all playstyles this: “play my PvP playstyle or get out” attitude stands out in stark contrast.

These are not the droid you are looking for, move along… → ESO, FireFall, NW :)

Don’t you exaggerate a bit?I never had to transfer even once. What a new player has to do is just to log every day and see what is the progress of his realm in WvW.It took me 3 weeks to get everything without even transfering even once!My home server is not with the best performance in WvW.So it took me a while to discover all 4 maps.

To all the people that complain i can give an advice.
1.Discover all vistas, waypoints, points of interest and skill points out of buildings.
2.Discover everything that your server is currently controlling.
3.Log in everyday and look how is the progress going,Took me 3 weeks of the so’’hard’’ work you are talking about that i got bored.
4.You don’t have to fight anyone at all.I personally skipped almost 90% of the fights.Look from far where you go,check your map and you will be able to avoid everything and everyone.

In conclusion – WvW map completion is not so hard as people try to make it.It just takes some time to finish. Now if you can’t afford to invest atleast 20mins per day to jump from map to map to see what is the progress of your world so you can discover the things you need well…then you just don’t deserve Map Completion at all.

In response to moiraine, the current system just boils down to luck (and how often you can play) in regard to the wvw map completion.
I got my map completion without transfer, but was delayed two months (not three weeks) even though I did exactly what you described, I even stayed to help but to no avail. This is because our world was never blue, and never conquered the blue borderlands when I checked until one week we dominated WvW (probably due to a WvW guild that came to visit).

During most of last semester I could only play in weekends. Even though I could put in quite a few hours during those weekends, that meant I couldn’t just login every day of the week to see how we were doing, so that meant no 20 minutes per day for me (certainly on average, but not in the literal sense). While I was fine with that since I was in no hurry, I can imagine this could be very frustrating for people who actually need the gifts or are not as patient as I am (and 2 months is stretching it a bit regardless of your view on patience).

If they are adamant about keeping exploration in there, I hope they take measures so you don’t find yourself locked out of your achievement for extended periods of time just because you weren’t lucky with your login times/world choice.
