Would you support a total reset?
No.
I am too close to my HoTW set, then I have to get each piece from each dungeon to Xmute to make myself look like the Frankenstein of dungeons.
*edit: Just think of the posts when people that spent tons of money unlocking bags slots/Xmute tokens gets their chars and all goods within (unlocked bags etc) wiped and ANet saying “See we fixed it for ya!”

Quite simply, no.. I have put a large amount of my own time into my characters, and a reset would make all that time completely worthless..

No reset, nothing would sway me to yes. I’m completely fine with them doing the work that they are on the bot issues, even if they aren’t actively reporting it to the community.
Sanctum of Rall
“Quaggan’s a piwate! Yarr!” – “Pirate”
No resets needed. The game is still so young that the bots haven’t had time to cause so serious problems that it would require a reset to fix. Another point is that I wouldn’t want to lose my own progress and time I’ve spent just because of something that someone else is doing.
Other aspects of gameplay can be changed too without resetting. It is even normal for MMO to do lots of gameplay changes during its lifetime.
If it means a better PvE experience, refined classes, better rewards, challenging enemies, better story and more significant changes, then yes.
If I got back the gems I spent on bank slots….then probably I would support it. After all the nerfs and adjustments…it seems if you didnt make money the first couple of weeks you will always be behind the ball. Between bots, gold sellers, nerfs….I have a worn out feeling about the game. It wont happen tho.
No. And I can’t think of anything that would sway me to view it as a good idea.
There are better ways of cleaning up after bots and balancing the economy that don’t punish your regular players. And I have very little sympathy for people with compromised accounts – I’m not going to agree to be penalized because they couldn’t be bothered to practice the most basic internet security protocols.
No… After considerable thought I do feel the game shipped to early and perhaps this is what it needs. The problem is the hype built before launch worked. 2-million players stormed the gates and played the kitten out of it. A reset now would be a nightmare scenario for Anet.
You can’t go back. You want to force a reset? People will write off your product as an unfinished mess and will leave and never look back. Most of us had beta characters. At release we said goodbye to those characters. We rolled our main and clocked > 150 hours with trust that we were playing on production/release servers. We’ll say goodbye to these characters when we say goodbye to the game.
When a reset happens so quickly after launch the game is done. A reset would destroy the game.

Only for those who exploited or botted their way to success…
…What? Don’t have a magic mirror or crystal ball that can tell that?…
…then no thanks.. just “fix” botters (like fixing animals….).
Yes if it means it is GW3, because frankly, GW2 is no where near ready.
“it doesn’t make you spend hours preparing to have fun, rather than having fun”
Guild missions say otherwise.
no. i do not, will not support a total reset.
just ban the bots.
and ban the people who bought gold from gold sellers.

lol no. I just want Anet to pick up the pace in terms of blocking the botting. It’s getting old seeing entire groups of bots running around in every part of the high end zones for hours on end.

perhaps anet need more data before they ban bots by the thousands and have security measures to prevent future botting activities perhaps?

Granted but the game has been out for over a month, how much more time is needed? There lies the problem as all Anet says is very vague responses of basically “soon”. Some of the fixes for personal stories have been the same soon just to take 3 weeks later and still nothing has come of it. I know they are probably working but while they are making and creating they should have more personal on hand to handle the influx of bots. If they don’t the economy becomes greatly affected which is my greatest concern.
Same issue happened in the first few months of Aion. Nothing to stop the gather bots and several parts of the economy just tanked terribly. They finally fixed it but at what cost? The damage had been done.
well maybe they want the gem prices to sky rocket first?
earlier, it was like
25s – 35s per 100 gems
now it is close to
50s per 100 gems
when the gem prices is high perhaps more people may actually buy gems and convert them into silvers once the botters and gold sellers are dealt with?
oh, and those who bought gold from gold sellers.
these are the worst group of people.
Lmao what we’re done comparing the game to WoW and Rift and TOR? Now we’re comparing it to FFXIV?
I’m totally against a reset, this game is no where near as horrible as you all say and I’ve yet to see any proof that a reset would get rid of botters/gold sellers OR fix any of the bugs that exist.
Please elaborate on how such a reset would actually solve anything, so long as it’s a “what if” scenario all that’s going to result is history repeating itself and people getting fed up with the fact they lost everything for no benefit whatsoever.
Edit – had to substitue the word result for happ-en since it made half that word Kitten for some reason.
No.
I had this happen to me in Anarchy Online and Star Wars Galaxies. I NEVER want to experience that ever again. Something like that is a game killer.
What would your reaction be if you worked for so many hours to be able to afford a new car. You get the car, got to drive it around for a little bit, and then suddenly a guy shows up, rips the keys from your hands, and walks away. When you ask him, “Why?” He replies, “Because we are resetting everything. The economy is in the kitten, people are complaining about the 1%, and their cries are being answered.” Think of the legendaries Crazylegsmurphy. Think of the legendaries that our co-players have put their blood, sweat, hot pockets, jolt cola, and personal relationships into obtaining. Do you want to deny them of all of their sacrifice. I say nay. That would be foolish. (And it would make you a kitten.)
No.
I played out my first week of release weeks in advance. I stocked up on meals and adjusted my sleep schedule and pushed myself to the limit to minmax my playtime every day.
I’m not going through that again, nor do I want to go through that again at a slower pace.
No. I would quit the game if they reset.
realistically, ANet’s not made much/any progress toward this being ready to launch this mythical “new improved” GW2
It’s a cute thought experiment. If I could get my money back, would I?
I would support a totakl reset if that triggered the second coming of whatever deity you subscribe to.
And that’s about as realistic as the end of bots and goldsellers.
Honestly, no I do not support a full reset due to the time I put into my characters, yes it’s only been a short period of time in the grand scheme of things but it’s still my time and a full reset would render that time wasted in a way I do not want it to be wasted (games are made to “waste” time but in an MMO “wasting time” generally gives you some form of progression)
To sway me towards a full reset? hmm… they’d probably have to refund me the money I spent on the game, and give me me about $100 in gems + a few bank/bag slots and 10 starting character slots instead of 5. Oh, and on top of that make the game not buggy as hell like it is right now and give us at least 1 GM per server at any given time to handle urgent matters. And for those who actually played over 100 hours of game play, how about at least something cosmetic to signify we put up with a completely bull crap reset.
no, just no!
I love my characters and I enjoy playing the game immensely.
Everything is not as doom and gloom as this forum would lead you to believe.
They said they will fix bots and I have faith in them.
GW2 is an MMO a bit more than a month after release, everything in the world is not instant, things take time. I plan on playing the game for years- I can be patient.
I would support a reset alongside with a complete mindwipe of every person who bought, seen or heard of GW2.
When I’m playing WvW I’m really playing LSD.
No reset. Absolutely no need for anything as draconian as that. I don’t think any of the problems so far experienced are worth even worrying about, personally. Bots, bugs and the economy? I can’t believe you people actually worry about this stuff.
