Yay! No more Medium Servers in US!
It was a bright idea to offer that promotion.
Let’s hope it fixes up those servers and we’ll see better fights

Im honestly shocked it worked given how much is tied into guilds.
Asking a steady big guild to do away with their home world for a new one means they have to start again from scratch on everything. Kinda whack imo.
Either that or a bunch of solo’s / small guilds moved which seems more likely.

why would they have to start from scratch?

Influence is linked to that world. If you are on another world you earn a different influence specific to that world that isn’t shared.

When you move servers all guild upgrades are reset you also need to start gaining new influence(although i haven’t transferred in 2 months so could be different now)
To be honest, guesting makes populations irrelevant. Anyone can just server hop and change the balance of populations.
BG seems to even out. still get some problems. but overall it seems better. I was thinking of moving but 2 of my friends havn’t been on so I didn’t want to leave them
So many people aren’t in guilds it’s not funny. You see it on the forums all the time. People have trouble with pugs, I suggest joining a guild and people say they don’t want to. They don’t have time or they don’t like people, or they like to meet random people. I don’t get it.
I’d say a much larger percentage of people in this game don’t have a guild than you’d think. which is why it worked.

Vayne, I’ve never agreed with you more…

•Until April 1, 2013, it is free to transfer to all Medium population worlds! Players are still restricted to one world transfer per week, so choose wisely
Theyve transfered to get easy pickings theyll move back on the 3rd or 4th
i wouldnt get to excited just yet
what i was expecting is people would split between servers and farm each other for titles in a quiet spot of WvW
it’ll be an intresting to see how many of the transfers stick around
and how many have transferd to make a point in WvW

You don’t get it? I’m sure that you already know the answer, hopefully, but I’ll answer it anyway. Not everyone playstyle is the same!
This was also made just around the time of the WvW reset on a friday.
Log on at 2am on a tuesday and I bet theres a few servers listed as Medium.

Oh c’mon, I think there was one thing one time.

Let me preface by saying, I’m now in a guild. But… there is a reason I wasn’t in one for a long time.
I have a lot of RL responsibilities and I didn’t want to join a guild only to let them down by not logging in for a week or not being able to join in dungeons, which I still haven’t really done, not joining WvW when everyone else is on during primetime. The list of ways to let down a guild could go on. Some people view a guild as a big commitment and finding the right ‘kind’ of guild to fit the player, can be difficult.
I found a semi-casual guild that I enjoy helping out when I can. I still feel a little isolated but only due to a big age gap.
Even though I’m not always on at the same time they are, I have supported them 100% so they keep me.

Well EU still have 13 Medium, 2 High and 12 Very High I believe.
Not that I’d want free transfers to my medium server. Who wants more WvW queues?
To be honest I understand why they did it and ofcourse its a good reason. No doubt some smaller servers got their kitten handed to them during WvW or couldnt group all that well or get their guild up in numbers.
I however dislike the fact that we now have constant que in WvW which we never had, and which wasnt needed for us to be pretty high up in the rankings as a medium population server.
I vote for more maps in WvW rather than the medium servers though. I think adding 1 or 2 maps, will first of all split up those CRAZY huge zergs of 50-80 people. And it can provide more room for players to join wvw rather than stand in Que most of the day (especially casuals with only 1 or 2 hours to spare).
I get it that Ques are needed so medium servers dont get run over, or less WvW focussed servers, but now it is like holding out on content people did pay for.
The devs have already said they are working on a new WvW map. It was originally supposed to be part of the update. That was an announcement from a long time ago. I have no idea if that map is incoming anytime soon though or if it has been shelved.
Would be nice to have a bit of clarification because it is impossible to get on WvW atm when you have a 1-2hr window to play. Well it is on Blackgate, YMMV if you’re on another server.

I understand. I’m older too, but we have a lot of older people in my guild. And we’re pretty casual (meaning very lol).
The right guild can make all the difference in an MMO. Just join a guild that is a social guild, rather than a dungeon or WvW guild and you’ll get the best of all worlds.
We do dungeons, we WvW (sometimes) even SPvP, but it’s all pretty casual. We have fun. That’s it.
We have people in our guild that log in once a week for an hour, what do we care if they’re good people?
@Vayne – I agree totally. Especially about the ‘good people’ part. I still feel a little out of place in the guild I’m in but at the same time I don’t want to abandon them. At some point I hope to find some players I ‘fit’ with better.
It would help if I could somehow figure out how to type in chat and run at the same time. I find myself typing a lot of “wwwww”. I wish we had some voice in gw2 because all the different people use different voice chat.
People to share the fun are the endgame, at least for me.

I thought that a guild would have a ventrilo server (or something similar) and don’t rely on the game to provide voice chat. I see some guild recruiting in the chat windows saying they offer vent.

Forget about typing and play. Get a headset and get on mumble, or ventrilo, or teamspeak or whatever your guild uses. That’s what I do. I can’t type and play at the same time either. Also, you know you can join multiple guilds, right? This is a game that you play for fun. You should be doing what you think if fun.
It’s not life and death. If I didn’t feel comfortable or at home in my guild, you could bet I’d look for one where I feel more comfortable.
The T8 servers will now be stuck in T8 even though they would beat any server in T7 and T6 save for Darkhaven. I am really hoping for some manual manipulation from Arena Net…

@Blude & Vayne – I’m sorry I was unclear. I do have voice chat with my guild. I was talking about when running around with new people from multiple guilds in WvW or out in the PvE environment. It’s hard to strike up convo’s with new people while actively playing.
Example: in WvW I jumped off a cliff with my 50%less fall dmg on. A couple of people followed me. I had a funny feeling they may have just trusted if I was okay they would be. I was right. I turned to rev them and was finishing up while we just started a quick convo, and we were attacked. We all scattered and I didn’t see them again.
Sorry for the derail OP.
