I can’t remember the last time we got a patch that DIDN’T break something, or multiple things…or everything.

Perhaps allocate a few more resources towards the QA team? if there is one…

if they do, they should consider replacing the lot of them.

Or just break the game on The Test Server.

I seem to remember somebody in a previous thread said that A-net didn’t have proper isolated test servers. They could be completely wrong of course, but it could explain a few things.

They already stated they tested it and none of the bugs appeared. They hit exclusively on live. They also stated a post-patch investigation revealed that it wasn’t something overlooked. https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Instant-God-Walking-Amongst-Mere-Mortals/page/16#post5327378

It’s annoying, a tad worrying with an expac looming, but also just one of those things

Even if they had a solid player test community and a dedicated server for it, bugs would still slip by. A single push can break a multitude of things.

With that in mind, QA is one of the most thankless jobs imaginable and bug hunters burnout compounds quickly on its own and is even worse when attacked by the community when something “does slip by”.

I’m a firm believer that some of the best bug hunters can be found in a player community, and with a little direction and guidance from Development they can make a very positive, and cost effective contribution to any game. Its just finding those players that are true blue “bug hunters” and keeping them engaged is the challenge.

There have been times I wanted to step in but I’m still recovering from epic burnout after doing it since 2007.

There’s no such ting as a perfect product upon release. The absolute best way to test something is to put it to it’s intended use which isn’t possible on any type of “test” server given the dynamics involved as well as the ingenious ways players will find to break something.

Even the most obvious mistake can slip by on a tester who is tired and has been working all night in a hurry to get the content out to the players and by coming here and throwing a tantrum about it you just guarantee it will be longer til we see the next update.

Get over it.

Let us all remember the bugs that “slipped by” on March 16th:

Yes. QA is a thankless job don’t make it worse by trashing them.

Also, don’t assume that they don’t notice a bug, I am a software engineer and ultimately it’s up to management to make the call over whether or not to delay a release to fix a defect. I’ve seen the frustration on the faces of the QA members of the teams I’ve worked in when the defect they worked their kitten off to reproduce gets bumped out of a release because it needs to be today and not next week. They don’t need to hear from the armchair experts over this.

As for this glitch, it was probably fairly obvious what the cause was once it went live but it may not have occurred on their test environment at all due to a variety of factors including the age of the data.

Been there done that hun. You can explain it over and over but no one will really get it unless they wore that hat.

That also goes for Developers who look at you like you broke their code when you present them with a bug…

I can laugh about it now but at the time it was hair-ripping aggravation (For clarity this happened on a different MMO).
