This thread is solid gold. I hope ArenaNet comes out and sincerely apologizes that you had to wait MAYBE A WHOLE EXTRA DAY to play the free content that released AS MANY AS 6 HOURS late (based on the release schedule they never announced, but you assumed based on prior releases.)

Anyway, have fun! I have to wait for my girlfriend to get off work before I play the patch, so I get to keep waiting!

I think ANet should go further than that. They should announce that, due to threads like these, European Servers will now receive Updates on Wednesdays, exactly 24 hours after they update the NA servers. Then, they’ll definitely get their updates during their daylight hours.

Also, I agree with you about these forums becoming bad for one’s sanity.

Europe is disappointed? I wasn’t. I just played the game regardless of when any updates would come. So you cannot play today, you’ll have to play tomorrow, big deal. Is this game your life? If so, there is seriously something wrong with you. I’m sorry but topics like this are always just a joke to me.

No, europe isn´t, at least I understand scheduling problems regarding software releases and the concept of different time zones. If anything brings you down about GW2, it is really this forum.

I have to admit yesterday I was really disappointed in A-Net because of the patch delay. For one the anouncement of the delay came really late, it would have been better to give us a bit more warning, since I think the reason some europeans were annoyed because like me, they rushed home from work, happy for the new patch and then there was only this announcement. So I would appriciate it, if next time the anouncement comes a bit earlier and is a bit more specifing, because “afternoon” is a long span of time and all evening you were sitting in front of your pc, telling yourself “perhaps the patch will still come before you need to sleep”.
But still, better to delay the patch a bit, than having huge bugs.

Europe isn’t disappointed, just the OP is.

Better to release content few hours later, but doing it correctly, without unneccessary bugs. I’m not disappointed.

How should for example german players know that? Sure common sense but the german GW2 site states february 18th and even the translated patchlog! says feburary 18th

How do most of you complainers function in the world? Unexpected things do happen. The weather is not always going to be sunny. Other people aren’t always going to do exactly as you expect. Your new puppy is going to urinate on the rug. Learning to deal with disappointment is an important life skill.

I think it is not so much a matter of release-time but a matter of communication. I went to bed and didn’t care but I can understand that people are disappointed.

On the german page it says 18th everywhere. So I would expect because it’s written in my language on the page for my country that this also means my timezone and not 18th somewhere in the world.

Usually we get the patch on the date it got announced for.

So when they bring out such huge patches that require alot of preparation why don’t they write that the patch will go live in the night from 18th to 19th then?

I wish they would take that into consideration for the next time.

I’m just curious to see if they can actually pull this off without a Karka-like disaster. At the moment, my opinion is that ArenaNet couldn’t organize their way out of a wet paper bag. I certainly don’t think that they take much consideration for anything outside their offices.

We shall see, however. Maybe I’m wrong. I doubt it, though.

I’ll say I was disappointed – not because of ANet, just because I get very excited on patch days, haha! But actually, being late to the party this evening just means that a lot of the bugs that might have arrived along with the update will be ironed out, people know what they’re doing so it’s easy to ask around to get an idea of where I should be going etc, some items will be up on the TP for me to get ahead with and … I’ve had a whole day more to get even more excited!

Lol, I was excited yesterday, saw it wasn’t updated and went and did something else. Woke up today and checked the forums to see the LS had landed, ankitten ow at work, unbothered by anything because I’m even more excited to see what’s what later tonight. So, I have to say, I don’t mind at all.

Anet announced there would be a delay. I have linked it several times in this thread. Enough with the hyperbole. Did you stop to think that maybe just before they launched the patch at the usual time they found a major flaw and instead of just launching it they delayed it until they fixed it? Oh heaven forbid they do that with all those in other time zones waiting. It would be better to just launch a busted patch right?

The patch went live on the 18th Anet office operating time as promised. Just because you play in a different time zone doesn’t make you a special little snow flake. There isn’t really much else to talk about.

I clearly indicated that they had told us there would be a delay. Problem is the information they gave us was vague at best.

Of course having been someone that stayed up to play the new content I’m ever so happy that they took the extra effort to make sure everything worked as intented sarcasm again

Clearly by trying to indicate why so many people were upset makes me a “special little snowflake”. I wasn’t at all bothered by the delay, I carried on running my dungeons and what not as per usual. Of course I was anxious for the patch to be released and being on a European server I can relate to the people that were left waiting around.
I was merely trying to explain these feelings in my previous post. Though clearly this sentiment couldn’t quite reach up to the pedestal you’ve placed yourself upon.

I waited last night for the patch and I was dissapointed it was late so I could not try it out… I’ll be able to play again in 2 days, at least some bugs might be fixed by then hehe I am still excited about what has changed in LA!

Wait a sec, an American based gaming company is going to release updates on their schedule? HOW DARE THEY.

I always skip the first day of a patch anyway, because being hotfixed into oblivion every time is not fun
