god dangit mini! XD
I think my Mini didn’t respect her all too much.

It could be worse…
Not sure how I managed that, but I think it had to do with my Omnomberry Ghost nourishment.

Yeah mine did as well just off to the side in the lower right hand of the corner view. My mini was holo scarlet sooo…. awkward
Thought the exact same thing, and laughed out loud at a very inappropriate moment haha. My mini southsun kasmeer was just soaking up that golden light.

Got to love the Skritt. got a major lol at it since its almost like he seen the camera~
1.3MB screenshot though since its 3600×1920
My Liadri was looking rather ominous, being all shadowy and revealed as the camera panned back, blocking my view of Caithe entirely.
Great storytelling, y’all. Thanks for sharing.

Yeah, mine had mini evon in it. EVON KNEW? NO WONDER HE WANTED TO BE IN CHARGE INSTEAD OF ELLEN.
I didn’t get a screenshot, but I was shocked when the camera pulled back to reveal Chauncey Von Snuffles cleaning his paws at the scene of the crime. HE KNEW ALL ALONG.

Cleaning his paws?!
What did he know, and when did he know it?

Wipe that smile off of your face Miya!
So the next step is to disable all minis to not interfere with the 2 mins cutscene they offer us each 1.5 month on average.
We were in a party. Look at all the mini ho ho trons. they are actually celebrating :P
A friend of mine shared this with me, Lord Faren.
Is Faren …relieving himself on the rocks in the background?

I had my mini pale tree. She stood there with her unblinking stare unable to believe what she saw.

HAHAHAHAHAH

I hate to ask but what exactly is he doing? Back turned to the camera, facing a nearby rock, both hands before him……

He’s putting on lotion, obviously.
…for tanning! Tanning! Geez. I know where you went with that one.
Terrible. :\

That breaks my immersion.
Did I play the immersion card right?
The same thing happened to me, and I felt horrible because I actually laughed.
Even though mine was fairly inoculous. It was just like ‘shocking revelation, horrible tragedy, llama!’

Forget everything else. There’s an EXTREMELY RARE account bound ghostly wolf pup trying to hide from us!
That breaks my immersion.

This should really be fixed as soon as possible. In that particularly moving moment the last thing i want to see is Faren’s kitten or a laughing doll or a flea-infested gryphon toy.
Classify it as bug, remove minis as long as there is enough resources to create a system that allows turning minis on and off in cutscenes.

I thought video games were supposed to be fun though.
I did the story together with my friends and we were all disturbed with how dark things had gone. It was clear a lot of build up and effort went into making this as dramatic and serious as possible, what with using themes like torture and tragic destiny. And then we all burst out laughing when my mini was just chilling in the foreground.
Another reason I can no longer take gw2 story seriously at all (and no desire to be invested in it after so much pointlessly cruel character death instead of development. Oh, another seemingly interesting character is killed three missions after they’re introduced? You don’t say…).

Exactly. It’s quite horrible and ruining ALL immersion for the story. Not sure how such a crucial bug can be allowed to exist.
Hmm…
The female human idle animations were supposedly (temporarily) removed from the entire game because they were immersion breaking during some cutscenes.
I guess they need to remove all mini pets from the entire game now until they can fix this horrific problem!
(When are we getting those back, Gaile? As you can see, everybody thinks these minipet intrusions are cute and fun. PLEASE restore the female human idle animations!)

HAHAHA.
Well, I kind of think the llama seems to be acting as a lookout. Good job, llama.
I know this “breaks immersion” for some of people, but this just feels right at home for me with the world of Tyria. It has the quality of certain answers you could give in the original Guild Wars for accepting quests, and I love these random moments.

It’s weird how that works, right?

Alright. That’s your opinion. So now that we all know how you really feel…

You can just hide your minipet if it’s killing the moment for you. Don’t try to add that minis are a reason you can’t take the story seriously.
Minipets weren’t going to make or break that for you.
At minipet in the cutscene is better than the Guild Wars 1 cutscenes. Those managed to have creatures in there that would kill you. For example, Necromancer minions might attack your char in the cutscene and you would be unable to fight back because…. It’s a cutscene. It wasn’t unknown for these creatures to kill you. This was especially aggravating for those trying for the Survivor title because those deaths counted and they used to have to delete their char and start completely over again.
There would be cutscenes where your char was standing there talking while a minion was standing beside you hitting you and you just knew that your char was going to be dead when the cut scene ended.
ANet may give it to you.

It’s funny how the same reasoning didn’t mean jackkitten when brought up about the other “immersion breaking” thing. I just hope the devs are aware that we are aware of what they are doing.
If a giggling doll or nude Faren is fine and funny during cutscenese, i would say a stretching Kasmeer was too. And vice versa, if stretching was too much then go ahead and remove minis until we figure out a way to do this.

I like many other players did the story on the day of its release and no one knew about the mini thing at the time. Going in with no spoilers, I experienced the story exactly as the devs intended. And any chance of taking it seriously went out the window when my mini was front and center in the scene.
Could the gw2 story be engaging for me again? Sure, introduce some characters, build them up, and then dont immediately kill them. When the trope happens so often that it can be seen from a mile away it becomes cliche.
No, the minipet isnt to blame for my feelings about the story overall. But it was a nice cherry on top of how impossible it is to get into gw2’s living story, and if there was any chance of taking the final scene of season 2 seriously a goofy dancing mini pet center screen takes care of it imo.
