legendary far too common?!
lol so you want level cap raised?
I think you grossly overestimate the amount of people with Legendarys ;P
I just met a guy with 5 legendary in a dungeon PUG. I have a legendary as well but that guys just made me feel so under-equipped – almost feel like naked even!
Come to think of it, most people in Pug nowadays have at least 1 legendary. Many have 2 or more. If you use the number of people standing outside of the LA bank as an indication, 8 out of 10 people must have at least 1 legendary. The last 20% must be people who have just started, people playing alts, or people simply don’t like the looks of the legendary.
I think it is about time to make legendary weapon legendary again:
TIME TO RAISE THE LEVEL CAP!This will make all current legendary obsolete. New better looking and harder to get level 100 legendary can be introduced. Image your legendary weapons are rare again and not a standard issued piece of tin foil that everyone who wants it has.
You all agree with me? Yes!
Raise the cap because someone has more than you? I disagree, I have a legendary and I’m working on my second. And I’m not a bit concerned about those who already have two, three, four or however many legendaries. Stop worrying about what others have and you don’t.
Windows 10
You want to raise the level cap and keep the game going on a gear treadmill?
Okay I can still play Guild Wars 1 if that happens.
It’s not a difficult thing to achieve, especially for anyone playing since release. And if the level cap were ever raised, Anet would likely default all legendaries and ascendeds to the level cap.
The game has been out over a year.. I am sure most people that wanted 1 got in. A year is plenty of time to get it. I would not doubt you get your wish though and all the gifts will require 500 crafting in the near future. So there is that.
the only time you should be looking in another man’s bowl is to make sure that they have enough.
it sounds to me like you don’t like the idea of other people having more then you. which is incredibly selfish.
if you truly want to have a unique weapon skin, then try some of the less flashy weapon skins. get infinite light or mjolnir or something.
I think a lot less people have a legendary than you think. I know a number of people that just outright bought them, too. Think about that.
Don’t support the Gem Shop, it’s that easy.
I seem to recall a developer or other anet staff members saying that “A legendary should take a year to get”. This I presume would mean for a casual player. And guess what. It’s been over a year so theoretically everyone who wanted one should indeed have one.
Sadly, the richer people get in this game, the easier it actually is to get a legendary. At the end of August I finished my “The Emporer” title and had no gold. Then they added the ascended weapons and because so many of the rich people wanted to be the first, the price of ancient wood and ori raised so much that within a month and a half, I was able to craft Howler, my second legendary. Just from the gold I got from selling what I had gathered. (Though I do have 7 level 80s..)
I do think that perhaps they could include elements from ascended crafting, in which you can’t craft x more than y times a day, for future legendarys. Then at least it’s more of a spread out process.

I’m pretty sure you’re being facetious here, but I really can’t be sure.
Of course you’re going to see a lot of legendary weapons. They’re some of the most popular skins, for their utility, effects, and supposed prestige, so a lot of people are going to go for them. The people who get them are probably going to use them a lot of the time. The people who get them are probably going to be some of the people who play the most.
Ironically, it’s because legendary weapons offer so much reward for so much challenge/grind that you see them so much more often than expensive exotic skins like Foefire’s Essence or Vision of the Mists. If I’m putting that much time and gold into a weapon, I might as well make it the best, and I might as well use it all the time so I can enjoy it. Turning the dial up to eleven won’t solve this dynamic.
…Although turning it down to nine might. Funny how that works.
Yes we need new, harder to get, legendaries, both weapons, armors and back items. The hardest part (in my opinion) is getting gifts of explorations for more legendaries. At least that is my bottleneck.
There is people like that in every online game. Legendaries dont mean jack squat in terms of skill. I met a chick in fractals with 8 and I played better than her with an exotic GS. Remember its all for looks and utility. People who have more than one sit on their kitten and play gw2 all day everyday so don’t feel bad that you only have one because you have a job or other interests.
Most of the people that i know rmt for their legendaries, that is sad

At least now I have an explanation of me not having a Legendary and there are no other reasons! Sounds legit…..

Uhh? NO!
First: legendaries still take like 400 hours of farming to get. Yes, that’s 400 hours of mindlessly hitting 1111111. If you have done it, hey, congrats, but there are people who still play the game to have fun, not to have unique skins, don’t ruin their game because you don’t feel special any longer.
Second: what would happen after 2 months of lvl 100? the same thing. Farmers will have a legendary for every weapon combo they can use, and you won’t feel special anymore.
Alternatively, they could introduce legendary weapons that require skill instead of time to get. I am not against that idea.

Ever stop and think that maybe that guy just bought allll of his legendaries…. lol. In which case don’t feel like your accomplishment is meaningless.

The person with those 5 legendaries would just whip out the credit card again and buy the next set of legendaries. As long as they continue to be bought straight out from the TP. What’s the difference?
I had 52 legendaries but I threw them all in the mystic forge and ended up with 13 white level 2 swords. I was hoping to get a super secret L100 legendary. Oh well it was fun and I made 9 silver selling the swords on the TP.
I understand your issue but the solution doesn’t make sense. ;/
Lotta people with Legendary most likely played and still play a lot so easier to see them around all the time I guess. Some people are practically handed them as well by getting lucky enough to get 2-4 precursors from MF. The joys of RNG.
but it’s not like all of them are amazing or worth it. I got the Incinerator on my thief and didn’t care about any of the other ones. ilex of dreams is cooler than bolt to me personally, as is the original TA sword I used previously. The only other legendary I adore enough to want is Frostfang but Thief and Guardian can’t use it and I don’t care for it on Warrior~ Axe is pretty neglected overall.
I may of worked on Kudzu if it was a Shortbow but the Yellow Super Adventure bow is awesome enough and shows off how much of a ninja/masochist I am.
Only about 3-8% of all players have a legendary I’d estimate.
Having 4k APs puts you in the 90th percentile of all players. Most legendary wielders I’ve seen have at least 5k and have been playing for a year, making them an even smaller portion, which is why I’m guessing 3-8%.
There are tons of players without legendarys, they just don’t play much. So the issue is not the rarity, the issue is that there’s little reason to play the game long term unless you are going for a legendary.

I have 7k ap and don’t have a legendary, I’d say is even less people maybe 1~2% but it all deppends on how much people is playing the game currently
there certainly are people that has crafted many legendaries and if you ask me I think that people that only have 1 legendary is quite rare, or you have none or you have meny, but having only one is quite rare

I have 12k ap and still don’t have a legendary. The precursor is the bottleneck.
My theory: could it be that only the ppl who own a legendary occupy LA to show them off thus giving you a false sence that most people have it?

lol. That guy probably plays GW2 24/7. I have all the time in the world and STILL can’t get a freaking precursor. The Legendary weapons should’ve never been RNG based in the first place, so making another legendary with an even lower drop rate would probably make 80% of the guild wars 2 population quit immediately. After trying to obtain a legendary for 2,500 hours and not getting one, I barely pick up this game anymore, and if they added a legendary that is harder to get with better stats, I would quit this game immediately.
My theory: could it be that only the ppl who own a legendary occupy LA to show them off thus giving you a false sence that most people have it?
LA + Dungeon runners since they have the cash to be able to get the mats.
Unstable Shield, Unstable Light
Why is no one discussing the fact that legendaries were announced to always have the highest stats? If the level cap goes up, the legendary level will go up too.
Your solution does nothing.
As an asura, I do this all the time.”
If you want to be a snowflake get something like Mjolnir. Hardly ever see anyone actually using one aside from the ones summoned by elementalists and even then it usually frost bow/flame axe.
Crafting a legendary weapon isn’t easy, buying them with real money thru 3rd party gold sellers is. People u see with 5-10 legendaries are real-money spenders, they don’t give effort to craft them. Also anet doesn’t earn money from them, because they are not buying their gold from anet.
assuming this thread is serious,,,, how bout…
NO.
I never could get why some people should feel bad because of what other people have. I never cared if the looks/skins i use is commonly used by thousands or so rare barely a handful has it. what matters is always how it works for me.
I don’t agree with raising the cap, nor legendaries being “too” common, BUT i agree the fact that we SEE legendaries all over the place very commonly :P In LA ledge particularly. But this might have to do with the fact that people who’ve got legendaries or multiple legendaries are end game players, who have pretty much exhausted the content and have achieved most or all of their goals, and therefore don’t have too much to do but hang around, and go do things for fun (exaggeratedly generalizing here)
We also need to note that the game has been around for a year and I remember running a legendary guild that literally had every legendary owner on the server for the first few months until they blew up all over the place. Perhaps its just that people have finally reached their goals after months of time.
however, yeah they are common to see. That doesn’t mean its common.
Should there be future goals to achieve? I don’t mind to have further goals. It shouldn’t STOP at legendaries, is what I’d agree on. What about legendary armor with really cool effects and stuff? What about legendary … dyes? XD Like particle effect dyes to put on ur armor omg xD
What about legendary forging? we have eternity with the two gs, what about other possibilities?
Most of the people that i know rmt for their legendaries, that is sad
I think that is fantastic, more money going to development of the game and keeping the servers running.
There are tons of players without legendarys, they just don’t play much.
Not entirely true, some just don’t want to do it because of the inflation of precursors. Its difficult to spend 300-800g on a precursor when the gifts take so much and then there is the problem of being an altoholic.

I think his point is that it doesn’t make them legendary
(edited by Dromar.1027)
wow only 20% without a legendary… more like only 20% HAVE a legendary sure I see 1 here and there but if you take notice its almost always the SAME group of players you see day after day.
Most players don’t even want legendaries. with the expection of a few certain ones. There are tons of even more amazing skins for 1/6 the trouble only think legendaries got for them in a few extra points in their stats. hardly work the pain.

Not to be rude here, but because some guy has five virtual grindfest items and you only have one, you want everybody to deal with a level cap raise so you feel more superior/better/satisfied?
Honestly i don’t think what is wrong is a game issue, seems more personal on your part..
