You get more hp at the expense of a little less damage. To me, staying alive > killing fast. I don’t think I own a single piece of “zerk” gear, but this looks good to me.
I agree the minor change from Soldier’s is silly. Especially because as players become more skilled they tend to rely less on toughness/vitality and prefer more power (and this is a step toward more health).
I’d like to see a stat combination of power, condition damage, condition duration. Probably wouldn’t out-DPS Berserker’s, but it’d sure be fun.
Useless for you, wanted for many. Just because you don’t like it don’t mean everyone else think the same (personally I’ll stick with soldier).
Besides, we already have Knight (T/p/p) and Emerald (P/t/p) so, why we can’t have Soldier and Sentinel?

Toughness, Healing Power, Boon Duration or Precision, Condition Damage, Condition Duration. Or any of the multiple different combos that aren’t in game presently and aren’t centered around DPS.
I hate the snowflake has boon duration mixed with magic find. Though with the new boon-hate my guardian with 72% boon duration is going to have to step very lightly.
Lets make magic find like an agony infusion and get back a stat. I digress.
So many different stat combos that could help condition & boon builds, that are non-existent.

edit: also in spvp we should have better accessibility to whatever gear we desire. I’m thinking of a vendor that lets you make a trinket with -whatever- attributes and you can have a predetermined amount of points on it.

Imo, we should be able to buy all the gear as we can in the pve world. Or at least combine a lot more. If we want some crit chance, some healing power etc. Not pump 3 stats.

Please correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t think this is true. Knight and Emerald are the same set, and in certain specific cases (e.g. when jewels are used as an upgrade), precision becomes the main stat. So creating the same stat combination with a different primary stat (Sentinel) sets a precedent.
In a nutshell, I agree with most other posters on here. There are opportunities for more novel stat combinations like Giver’s.

Some ppl do want the same set but one strong then the other 2 that is not the same as the stander. I would love to see condition dmg as main healing power and toughness as a minor. Or Power as main precision and toughness as minor. More then like they are going to do it for ever set its best you get use to it now.

There is only two uses for defensive stats, and that’s to cover a players incompetent kitten as they are too bad to dodge, alternatively your character is an anchor, where you only want Knights anyway as Vitality is objectively bad (and this role should be a Guardian only). Everybody else should be Rampager/Zerk, no ifs, no buts.
If I have the ability to play full berserker and get a dungeon done quickly, why should I have to carry someone who isn’t pulling there weight?
Oh well, back to gear checking I suppose.

You mean because I’m a competent player you expect me to carry the incapable ones? Not happening my friend, why should I spend twice as long inside a dungeon than I need to because everybody else isn’t up to par? Lemme guess, you want to make GL a 10 minute ranged fight too instead of a 1:30 melee?
It’s definitely a good job I have a like-minded, sensible guild and usually only have to pug 1 player or maybe 2.

I love when people cry and moan and then don’t realize they already know the answer.
They never should have created “primary stats” on gear. It gives so many possible stat combinations that we will never have every possible combination of stats now.

There isn’t a craftable exotic version of Soldier’s gear IIRC, so this is the next best thing.

Bunker Eles and Guardians I guess.
BTW healing/toughness/vitality gear would be the ultimate troll gear for bunker elementalists and guards in WvW
