I think Hammer or Greatsword for Ele would be cool, casting more brutal and epic spells. I know that it would kind of clash with their conjured weapons and would also demand more work and skills to create than a weapon for another profession or an off-hand for ele due to the attunements, though, so I don’t have my hopes up.

oh not sure about a greatsword for the ele, i’m thinking single mage-sword would be more in keeping myself, really hard to cast a spell when you have your two hands wrapped around a big ugly hunk of metal

Sad to inform that even if mesmer got main hand shield as next elite spec you wont be able to use two elites so no shield/shield for you.

Guardian — —> Warhorn, all security systems have an alarm xD
Mesmer --——> Dagger, the true assassin.
Necromancer——> Torch, the Mummy IV i believe would be awesome to be released.
Ranger —-—→ Scepter, strange things happen deep inside the dark forests.

Elementalist: Greatsword
As I’ve suggested elsewhere, make all five attacks auto attacks (just as spear for Rev has two auto attacks). Using them in specific patterns can add effects to the attacks.

Revenant: Longbow
Give us a Tengu archer to channel. Rev really needs another ranged weapon.

Engineer: Mace
It’s a hammer. What kind of engineer can’t swing a hammer? Make some of the attacks do extra damage against non-living targets such as walls.

Thief: Rifle
We need the sniper. The concept is too basic to ignore. Make the snipe shot a stationary charge skill that consumes more initiative the longer you charge it to build damage, and make it leave a revealed condition on the user.

Ranger: Rifle
The sniper concept belongs to the thieves, but the wandering gunman concept belongs to the ranger. Secondary weapon skills can be things like arm and leg shots, with the Grandmaster traits giving you a choice of three additional effects you can add to your rifle attacks.

Warrior: Offhand Pistol
Rytlock pulled this off for years. Well, he’s not a warrior any more, it’s time for him to give up his signature weapon.

Guardian: Shortbow
Healing arrows need to be a thing.

Necromancer: Shortbow
Arrows tipped with all sorts of nasty stuff. Because they would do that, right?

Mesmer: Mainhand Dagger
Skills 2 and 3 are up close and personal. Skill 1 is a three step attack, with the first step having range and teleporting the target to you. Because that’s how a mesmer would use a throwing dagger, right?

I wish they would add whips as melee/mid-range weapons. They are already in game (with existing animations), since Nightmare court uses them. Your sylvari character gets to use it for a while in personal story.

They look pretty epic and have a potential to be used by multiple classes. Think stuff like thief (who can also use them to move around by swinging on it), fiery/electric whip for ele, mirage whip for mesmer, etc.

Every single class has at least two melee options even the engineer has bomb kits and hammer and the elementalist has conjured weapons to go with their daggers.

The exception to this is the Mesmer the have mainhand sword and only mainhand sword no utilities to offer other options or anything. So without a doubt the Mesmer needs a secondary melee option and sure axe, daggers, or mace can fill this roll the mesmer had an offhand weapon last time and that’s a mere two skills so I think they deserve a two hand weapon.

Hammer, Scythe, or Great Axe as long as its a two handed weapon, new type to the class so it gets more legendary weapon options, and melee oriented I’m good.

Warrior: Offhand Pistol
Rytlock pulled this off for years. Well, he’s not a warrior any more, it’s time for him to give up his signature weapon.

Warriors have enough off-hand ranged options (Sword, Mace, Torch). They need Mainhand pistol, giving them a ranged option that also allows them to use off-hand weapons.

Screw that traitor Rytlock. Warmaster Gritblade’s got the look we need to rock.

Longbow on ele, I wanna shoot elemental arrows a la Zelda style. Imagine how sick an elementalist with a stormbow would look.

Elite skill:
Primordial shot
Focus all your elemental magic in a pwoerful shot imbued with your current element:
Piroclastic shot: heavy damage and heavy burning
Glacial shot: low damage, long lasting AoE chill and AoE healing plus water field for 10 secs.
Enervating shot: Very low damage, 15 stacks of vuln for 5 seconds and stun for 5 seconds.
Tectonic shot: Moderate damage, 2 knockdown, blindness and 25 stacks of bleeding for 2 seconds.

OR

Elite skill: Conjure Greater elemental quiver

Conjure a greater elemental quiver depending on your attunement for 10 seconds, gaining additional effects to your attacks.

Piroclasmic arrows: Your attacks burn and do 20% additional damage
Frostbite arrows: Your attacks chill for 2 seconds.
Sparking arrows: Your attacks apply 3 stacks of vulnerability and have a 20% chance of stunning your enemy for 1 second.
Obsidian arrows: Your attacks apply 2 stacks of bleeding and 1 second of cripple.

Secondary choices are warhorn guardian, scepter/focus/greatsword/longbow revenant, scepter/focus thief.

tertiary is basically attempting to find lore reasons to match every weapon with every class (even if I may disagree with some like pistols/rifle for ranger).

EDIT: what’s with the bunny/hammer thing? i’ve seen that twice in this thread and don’t know what that’s about.

Non, would rather them focus on redesigning classes and sticking them into 1 thing before they add anything more painfully broken. Coming form a PvP/WvW player.

Game needs a lot more team play, less one man armying everywhere. Weaken every class but give them powerful support so everyone will have a specific role instead of just raw damage.

No weapons, Just reworks on dead skills and trait system ^^

Swords = Arcanist aka the classical dual weapon wielding “Battlemage” which uses Elemental Spells for Melee Combat to empower this way their Weapons and Armor with enchantments of natural powers.
Old GW1 Elementalist Skills could return with this like:

On an overal level, I would love to see many of the offhand and just main hand weapons be used in the other hand.

Would love to see off hand scepter and main hand torch. To whom they would go to, I have no idea, but I think they could be easily placed.

I also would love to see underutilized weapons get a boost.

Specifically, I would love to see:

Elementalist – Offhand Sheild with great arcane applications.
Engineer – Shortbow with explosive arrowheads
Guardian – Shortbow as it is a natural progression with already having Longbow
Mesmer – Dagger as it fits in with the “entertainer” aspect of the class.
Necromancer – Either offhand axe for the creepiness or torch for the same reason.
Ranger – Shield as it is a natural fit for the class.
Revenant – Warhorn to call things from the mists.
Theif – Rifle for a sniper type of character.
Warrior – Rifle as I think they should be proficient in all mundane weapons.

Yes it was. Good catch. I have never cared for using a Rifle on a warrior, but more than that, they already have about every weapon a warrior would use, I figured that we had to start recycling.

Can you explain me how shield fits to Ranger? It doesn’t fit at all for me.

It fits to me because it is about as basic a weapon as can be had. Leather shields were common to indiginous hunter/gather cultures as well as many fantasy ranger type characters I have read over the years.

Shields don’t all have to be huge, ornate bulwarks crafted for nights and jousters.

I’m operating under the rule that classes that got one handed weapons last xp,
will get two handed this xp and vice versa (even if it turns out not to be true).

Elementalist: Longbow
I see this as a more single target, limited AoE weapon compared to the staff.

Revenant: Greatsword
I’d like to see this as a mid-ranged weapon. Generating fields and auras and such.

Engineer: Mace
We already have a hammer skin for it.

Thief: Offhand sword/torch/axe
Any of these could be cool.

Ranger: Mainhand dagger
Ranger could use more melee choices.

Warrior: Staff
Either this or shortbow.

Guardian: Warhorn
Would probably be everything the ele warhorn isn’t

Necromancer: Torch
Not sure why they don’t already have this.

I’ve wanted rifle on mesmer since shortly after release. The last living story episode kind of hinted at this as a possibility. This will be the mesmer’s power-based projectile weapon.

I really don’t want a wimpy dagger on mesmer. Give us something exciting, like an axe, or something unique like MH focus, or something unheard of for spellcasters (like shortbow).
