poll: new content or core features/bug fixes?
Bug fixes, bug fixes, big fixes. It’s not glamourous and rarely makes headlines and doesnt make any real money for them. But its the #1 driving factor in everyones experience. The more bugs you encounter, the less you enjoy a game regardless of how much content it has. Adding more content to an already buggy title can infact make a game much worse in perfomance / quality and in gaming enjoyment.
There’s two different teams that deal with both, and people on either team might not have the skills to work on the other.
Bob might not have the skills to debug buggy code, since his experience is in creating content, while Jim has experience in debugging code, but no experience in creating content (since content is created through tools created by the programmers. That’s where the bugs come from; buggy tools).
Time is a river.
The door is ajar.
Coders don’t do the art.
Both
Pre-production content and live content are handled by completely different teams. And one could not do the job of the other even if they wanted to.
Both. I don’t really know why they couldn’t do both since they’re done by two different teams as the poster above me said. And honestly, I don’t even see bugs people claim to be all over the place.
bout but if i have to pick content
Do they still run the hardware check under the software?
GW1 is a champion of the software world as it was also capable of error checking the client’s hardware platform to some degree.
The number of “bugs” out there being reported by players that were able to be completely ignored due to evidence that client side platform was at fault was HUGE.
ANet – always getting better at knowing what not to listen to!
It may just be that your original statement was wrong.
Please try again.
Definitely work on fixing the core game before worrying about new content.
And if that new content includes any type of new tier for gear the scrap it completely.

I was going to say new content until I read that, because it hadn’t occurred to me.
I don’t want new content if it’s going to include new tier(s) of gear. Ever.
My preferences in order.
1. Address core issues (condition damage, bleed stacks!!!, others…).
2. Fix bugs.
3. Balance professions.
4. quality of life improvements (guild management, LFG, others…)
5. new content
If A-Net’s teams are weighted towards content instead of improvements/fixes, then reorganize or hire more people. More then half a year into the game and half of all builds having acknowledged issues (condition damage in group play) is awful. Just awful.
