As true as Odin’s spear flies,
There is nowhere to hide.
while guardian and mesmer use spells, i would not exactly call them spellswords. while mesmers being the closest to that playstyle, they don’t quite cut it. this would kind of be a toss up between warrior and elementalist, and i think it might be do-able if done right. they would only be able to use 2 out of 4 of the elemantalist’s attunements, which ones those are would be up to Anet. also, it’s fire and lightning, the fire and lightning damages would only be available in the offhand slot, in the form of focus and dagger and utilities. I guess they’d also be able to imbue their MH swords and etc temporarily with the power of fire depending on attunement.
So, does anyone think this might be feasible? i’d be really excited to play it if it was announced.
Im still hoping the next class will be a heavy armor take on the warlock
We got a Good guy semi magic heavy
A neutral, all strength Heavy
Now we need a bag guy magic heavy.
Bad Guy Magic Heavy***
Im not changing it, cuz It makes me smile

So. in other words, you want an elementalist wielding a sword?

i really don’t know how it could be done but i think it’d be a nice addition. and no, this classes use of magic would be limited but there nonetheless.
I would appreciate a guardian class with magic of an elementalist, armor of a soldier (medium armor), speed of a thief, and generally a very mobile character. I don’t mind at all if its nerfed to light armor.
Battle Mage would fit that role.
So you want an ele with higher defense?
I’d rather have an ele that deals more damage. Deal with it.
3rd heavy armor profession with medium health.
what could it be?
spell sword?
battle mage?
what about …
shapeshifter?
heavy armor shapeshifter feels weird you say?
sauron wears heavy plate armor and is a shapeshifter.

“In J.R.R. Tolkien’s Middle-earth novels, Sauron, the main antagonist of The Lord of the Rings is a shapeshifter.”
though game play mechanic wise there is nothing for them.
okay forget what i said.

Shapeshifter bro. Anet make it happen. Heavy shape shifter with medium hp high dps low armor.

Baggle Mage. OLOLOLOL
I really don’t think they’re going to double up on any class themes. One divine magic user, one dark magic user, etc. is all you’re gong to get. This means there won’t be a heavy armor class that uses dark magic, elemental magic, or arcane magic. The only hope I think you guys have is a class using spirit magic (akin to the Ritualist).
But since the Living Story model has failed to deliver new skills*, new zones*, or new playable races – all of which are easier to implement than new classes – I wouldn’t worry about it.
^Southsun no count for new zone.. it’s abandoned.
Bazaar was fun, but nothing to do when you were finished exploring it and completing achievements (and it’s gone besides).

Necros!
Maybe they should just give EVERY class a new weapon.
Would be nice if they come up with Ritualist or Derwish. But I fear they will never do that…
A magic class without light armor would be nice.
Bag magic class?
That’s called a ranger. You walk near one and a bag magically appears in your inventory.

you’re..really not good at thinking out of the box are you?
You need to flesh out the class idea more.
Convince the devs that you aren’t making an ele with a sword. List the roles, the weapons, the utility skills, the builds, the playstyle. Tell us how you want it designed so it wouldn’t be an ele with a sword.
Technically Dervisher we’re shapeshifters, using blessings of Gods to transform into Avatars of the respective skills.
And, even though they are considered “Leather” wearers (and even aesthetically wise, they wore more cloth like armor), their forms can be considered heavy armor-ing.
But currently, with the multiple races and the Lore (especially Charr and Sylvari) not really believing in the Gods, Dervishes would be hard to implement.
D/D ele seems to kind of fill that maybe a heavy armor class that has the effect from the zerfrites (how ever you spell it the ppl in the sky). So only 3 types of spells lighting sun and wind. You cant give ele elements to another class with out removing what makes ele and ele.
So what lighting would be speed attks, wind would be strong cc knock backs and healing and sun would be burning slow attks. Or something like that.
We’ll get the 3rd heavy armor class when we get the Tengu. Expect it to be a Samurai class, wearing heavy armor, with stances as its mechanic for F1-F4. One utility set will have it giving buffs/debuffs using the “soul” within the weapon.

That was off the top of my head runeblade, I have no citation for that. Though it really would be awesome.

Then don’t mislead others.
What you made up is not what Anet promise.
Did I ever state it was?

What did ANet promise?
^no grind
Never listen to what they promise.. runeblade is more trustworthy in his small toe than the whole of Anet together.
