world of names
I made a thread about this earlier here
Looks like people are ok with lots of names on screen …
You can turn off player names in the options menu. When you first open the menu its on that screen under User Interface. The 5th option down. Hope this helps.
The option to turn them off doesn’t seem to be working right now. I’ve had it off for ages and I’m still seeing a sea of names. I’ve tried turning it on and then off again and it doesn’t change anything.

The option doesn’t work when you have your culling settings on low. It has to show something to represent every character on screen, if you have your culling settings on low then the models are completely culled out, and it shows them as their name plates by default.

This doesn’t work in large groups.

Sorry, I didn’t know it didn’t work.
for those who dont know here some screenshots how epic fights are right now (low graph + max culling + names disabled)
This is an issue. When you have the new culling settings at high and turn off player names they are disabled. When you turn culling settings to low the player names show and everyone is wearing the same colored low resolution armor sets.
Please fix.
OMG this is so anoying remove that freaking names i have turn names off in settings then turn them off :/
Also i would prefer it that only real players will be hidden for me not also the NPC’s

Fix what? those settings are for players whose systems can’t handle the performance hit from that many players at higher levels of quality.
it’s working as intended.

I do not believe it is working as intended. Why would I want to see every players name (regardless of my culling settings at high or low) when I have the ‘show players names’ setting turned off? It is as simple as that.
If your desired outcome is to see neither the player models nor their names, then i can’t really help you… that’s not something you should want, as it hampers your tactical information.

Yes, because I need to know the name and location of all 300 people in a zerg, for tactical reasons.
The ONLY names that should be displayed, (regardless of culling settings) are:
• Guild
• Party
• Team
• Squad
• Commander
• Friends
With an additional hotkey to press to show the name of everything (much like the key to show interactables). I do not need or want to see the name of every NPC or player in the cities. It looks horrible, and it lags almost as much as the models themselves.

location and concentration yes, else how are you effectively making use of fields?
also, location+time=movement. If you can’t see the zerg, how would you know when the zerg starts pulling out, leaving you alone?

We are talking about the player names, not models. If we have our culling settings to low we can still see tons of models. However even with the ‘show players names’ off they still appear while culling settings are set to low.
So yes my desired outcome is to have the player names off when the game settings reflect that.
The OP specifically states: “the culling dont let them be shown on the scren BUT it displays all the names of the crowd around you”.
so in his/her case it is about both the names and models being hidden.
you might be talking about something else, but that’s the context of the thread and of my comments.
