whats really sad is that when halloween eventually goes live , all the angry people will be charging the event with a mental to do timer of what they can get,buy,achieve,accomplish,(all by luck or not, as I do not think a definitive play out of Halloween is known) and they will not enjoy it rushing back and forth from crafting to black lion and…great enjoy, have fun, just personaly looking forward to seeing the new world major area skins oh and the person that said “shut it” to an earlier post, not from myself..“you brought the game and are entitled”..grow up ..shall i ask vigil about their darksiders2 tomb expansion(free) or are you being a b@~ch about pointless things like that as well.The real question if you can sit at 3.54 am gmt here and complain about a game your not happy with..well then just go away and stop playing, simple i would think, your not happy or enjoying then stop

I wish Anet would realize that people on the East coast have jobs and can’t be up til 12-1am waiting for an event to start. To us that’s the 23rd not the 22nd.

It all makes sense. The apocalypse is going to happen this year because people are going to panic and cry because a game update is going to be a bit later than they anticipated. Oh no. What ever will we do while the game is still up and entirely playable.

Anet has always used PST. You know, I can think of another big name that uses PST and doesn’t get reamed over not using GMT. And you know what? It seriously does not even matter. You have the internet at your fingertips. You can look up a time converter, or better yet you can sit in game and set up the clock to display PST.

You guys should probably calm down. The update will happen, and you know what? Even if it’s late, the update will happen. Would you rather have it early and broken, or late and functional? Things come up, Anet handles those things pretty well.

The problem is the people not being able to have a string of patience and understand that things are not going to be perfect.

It is now less than one hour on the US East Coast until the email ArenaNet spammed me with to announce this turns into a toad.

Honestly its a bad update time this late because it inconveniences the vast majority of us. I am not really mad. I just don’t understand it. They set the time table themselves. They could have easily said were having issues or its going to be a little late. We accept that we wouldn’t have a choice and it would help with the QQ. In the long run its not some big disservice but it is a little rude. Honestly if it were me I would delay the thing til 12noon PST tomorrow and let everyone go to bed. It will come out when it comes out so rest if you need to its not going anywhere.

twiddles thumbs no matter how much we complain here, it will not speed up the process. It will be updated when it is updated period end of story, YES I am impatient, and YES I know I can do NOTHING ABOUT IT EXCEPT FOR COMPLAIN! Which does nothing, mudada, useless!

So sit back in your chairs, twiddle your thumbs, go play another game, go level one of your characters in gw2, shoot go play gw1, read a book, something to keep you busy, and if you have to miss the start because you have a job or something else that is more important than guild wars 2 good for you!!!!!!!!

It will come out, that is all you need to know! It is a young game, of course there will be problems so be patient or not just stop complaining!

So that means at the very latest it’ll be out in 4 hours.

Which is just ridiculous. For anyone who actually lives in PST, they get “the 22nd” but it’s actually “as late as possible on the 22nd”, and that’s really awful to do. Never, ever, ever promise something is coming on a certain day and then wait until the very last minute to do it. That’s just mean and it’s shoddy.

And for everyone else…it’s not the 22nd. So it’s bull on their end too.

The misleading timing is what’s making me mad, more than anything. They should not have ever said “The 22nd” if they didn’t mean it. I know, yes, it is still the 22nd where they are for 4 more hours. But that doesn’t mean it isn’t misleading and downright rude.

All they did was get everybody excited for the 22nd, only to make them slowly but surely get kitten off throughout the day. Very bad planning.

One hour left for Oct. 22 (for me anyways) and still nothing.. Might as well have said Oct 23rd and not get us all excited..

Traditionally GW1 never released any Halloween Content until midnight pst.
If they keep the tradition going you still have 4 hours to wait.

ArenaNet, on account of all the patient people that play your game, I’ll apologize for the impatient ones, thank you for doing the updates for free for us and generally supporting the game altogheter. I have faith that this update will be amazing when it goes live, even if it’s not right now. :P

Keep up the good work on the game though and know that there are players out here that understand it takes a lot of work to push through a big update.

Any chance we could get some of the update notes before the update comes out? I’m personally very interested in potential bug fixes and profession balances.

But I hope A-Net isn’t sitting around waiting to release it 11:59 pacific, because I’m going to be seriously ticked. Most of my guild already gave up and left, which takes all the fun out of it.

Please just be clear about when and then we will do something else and come back at the right time. If it because you cannot (bugs) just say it and put it on the 23 … we will go away and play the usual game… It’s a question of telling really what’s happening

Event date : otc. 22 – 7h00 pm PCT
Event delayed : Server problem, expected for 10:00 pm PCT
Event in progress : Server X updated, Y less then 30 min, etc…

Disappointing. I did not hear this subject discussed at all during tonight’s presidential debate. If I were president, I would ensure that all Americans and people around the world get to experience this content on the day it was promised.

Arena Net is doing everything they can not only to launch this event as soon as possible for everybody, but to make sure the event is as good as we the players want it to be, and as good as they want it to be.

No need for us to be complaining that it is not launching on time, just be glad we are getting a free update for Halloween, and that we have a whole new thing to do in the game for the next week!

It looks like someone didn’t learn from Trion’s example. They went through all the teething issues with story and holiday events on a fixed schedule.

Number #1 rule: Stop being so darn vague about your release process slipping up.

I’m not going to debate what free means, and I’m not going to get into an argument over whether or not this update is late. What I am going to do is say: THANK YOU ARENANET! I’m loving this game! The update looks amazing as everything else you have done and I’ll be on the second it goes live! Thanks for taking the time to get things right rather than rushing them out when people start complaining, a lot of us really appreciate all your work and your dedication! So thank you and keep up the good work, guys/girls! You are all AWESOME!

@Lightyears I agree and I am not refuting that I am just stating what has happened on GW1 over the past few years. Arguing for ANET it would count tech. on the 22nd since they would have to push it to the servers at least 1-2 hours in advance but point taken.

And yes, the content update is free. But that is what we paid for when we bought an MMO promised to provide free updates. That is why I planned to buy at least 20 dollars in gems to support the team this event. As customers, providing feedback to the company helps them know what they can do to make a better product.

Anet’s patch release times only benefit those in the pst. I’m on the east coast and by the time the patch hits I will probably be sleep. Certainly Anet can do a better job giving specific dates for their patches. They should say Oct 22nd for pst, Oct 23nd for non pst.

The lack of communication is pretty sad

Well it’s now 1310 23 Oct for a paying customer who recieved an an email advertising new content would be available on the 22nd.
Anet needs to get their wording better in their marketing department so they don’t issue promotions with timings the live game team have no plans to meet.

This update and the PR surrounding it were poorly handled. Expectations could have been set properly, which is to say that you never had plans to release this update prior to 11:59pm Pacific, and folks could have planned accordingly.

Oh well. It’s another case of a company thinking the pacific coast is the epicenter of the universe. Meanwhile the rest of the world has already started Oct. 23.

God you people are unbelievable. I could understand this when it was release, because you literally couldn’t play the game. But for this, god its just not that big of a deal. Go play some WvW for a while, do some karma events, or go to bed and get up and play it tomorrow, the event runs through Nov. I know they said there will be a one time event or something, but I seriously think they have that under control and will be trying to make it very available to everyone. If it happens at a random time, its definitely not gonna yield special items that you can only get during that one time.

My main complaint as many others have stated is that if it goes live at midnight PST then it should be the 23rd not the 22nd. If I would have known that ahead of time, I wouldn’t have to had wasted all this time in front of my computer all night, instead of doing something else. I only have limited time to play the game, and I squandered all of it tonight waiting for an event that’s not going to happen until tomorrow. I was waiting last night as well assuming it would be coming at midnight. That’s the thing people are taking issue with. You guys got the date wrong.

At the very least some non-Halloween related patch notes would do wonders to hold me over until tomorrow. I don’t think that would ruin the Halloween atmosphere. I know you guys are all like “chill it’ll come out soon.” but I have to go to bed soon, I gotta work tomorrow

I have been hoping since the last 20 hours that it would come out in the next 5 minutes but the 5 minutes roll by and I have to hope for another 5 minutes

It’s supposed to be out now, the 22nd, not the 23rd. If they’re dealying it, they need to extend the dates as well. Oct 22 – Nov 1. Needs to extend past nov 1 to how ever many days they delay it.

Sometimes things don’t go the way you plan. I’m sure there’s some people over there typing their fingertips off trying to fix some things that were only discovered when they tried to bring the new release up as live servers.

Its currently 1.15 pm on the 23rd here on the east coast of Australia.
