Forum bugged and ate my post, so I guess I have to type this all over again. Sigh… here goes, short version:

I have the following achievements completed:

• Halloween Huntin’ (150/150)
• Halloween Events (10/10)
• Trick or Treat (100/100)
• Pumpkin Carving (150/150)

And yet, “Emissary of the Mad King” shows “3” achievements completed. Is this a bug or does the mad king just have trouble with basic arithmetic?

Pumpkin carving (and clocktower) don’t count towards the emissary achievement

What’s your (official) source for that? It says it’s counting Halloween achievements, and those are listed in the Halloween achievement section.

Either the counter is bugged or its description is bugged.

I heard the clock tower is not part of the meta too

That wiki page says nothing about which achievements are counted towards the meta achievement.

And wiki pages are often incomplete / outdated anyway.

I clearly have 4 Halloween achievements completed and the counter is showing 4. Either the description of the counter needs to be updated (to list exactly which achievements are counted), or the counter itself needs to count correctly.

Can this be stickied or moved in a Q & A thread…. Anthony’s post answers a lot of questions and would calm a ton of rage

Carving counts. My Emissary was at 3 after finishing Carving, ToT Bags and Huntin’ but i won’t move to 4 after doing the 10 events.

Can’t edit…so it doesn’t count…hmm seemed that way to me.

This is probably why… pumpkin carving has its own title associated with it and the jumping puzzle is ridiculously hard (don’t get me wrong it is nice piece of content, but most jumping puzzles are not required for things like map completion… so I am guessing similar way of thinking here).

Whether I personally agree with all of the above is besides the point, pumpkin carver is pretty easy since you don’t have to carve unique pumpkins for example and the jumping puzzle well is a jumping puzzle.

The issue isn’t the reasoning or how easy each achievement is (personally I found Trick or Treat and Halloween Huntin’ a lot easier than Pumpkin Carving, for example).

The issue is why on Earth does Arena Net clearly state that the meta achievement counts “Halloween Achievements” and then count some but not others. Do they expect people to guess…??

I’m actually thrilled to no end that tower doesn’t count against the title.. It’s pretty and fun (havent been able to finish it) but It would drive me ukittentten wall to stay up all night non stop trying to complete it.

Do the DE’s on the Kryta maps that helps with opening the Mad Realm. Do the door events inside the Mad Realm.

Deserves to be front page just for the information that the jumping puzzle doesn’t count. Was worrying me deeply since unfortunately, I have a low-end machine, and even on the lowest settings I still get visual lag on the clocktower.

If the “Attend the Party” is required for Emissary of the Mad King, that that is terribly planned/designed.
This is assuming that “Attend the Party” is part of the Act 3 Special Event.
If that is required, not a lot of people will be able to get the Emissary of the Mad King title. You’ll be able to get 4 points from Halloween Huntin’, Halloween events completed, Trick or Treat bags opened, and It’s a Mad King’s World.

However, considering how Anthony said Pumpkin Carving doesn’t count, then that means you HAVE to “Attend the Party”.

Which is a piece of crap. I for one probably won’t make the time for the party and many other people will not either.

Of course, there is a possibility that the “Party” isn’t the one time Special Event.

Well I’m glad the clock tower doesn’t count towards the meta achievement because I’m horrible at it. No way am I completing it.

Why are you assuming that “Attend The Party” is part of Act 3’s special event?

They specifically stated attend the party is NOT for the act 3 one off event. Less rage please

Arghs, if “Attend the Party!” happens at the 31st, and with the Timing they have adopted (starting late afternoon/evening in Europe), there’s no way I can do that one ~_~

Can we have an actuall list of which ones count and how to get them?

Right now we have:

1) Halloween hunting -kill the stuff that comes out of the portals (candy corn elementals, plastic spiders, mummys, skeletons etc)
2) Trick or treat (open 100 ToT bags)
3) Halloween events ….??? what are these?
4) Attend the party…..??
5) Mad king’s realm ….??

those that do not count:

mad kings clock tower

Halloween Events = those chain world events that reverse the door portals or playing the group events in the Mad King’s Labyrinth. Those are the ones I’ve found so far anyway.

I finished all 7 achievements under Special Event, and my “Emissary of the Mad King” is still 4/5. Hope it will get a fix soon.

The EXACT same thing is happening to me. Please respond to this ANET! Time IS a factor here!!

Have you tried logging out of the game somewhere other than Lion’s Arch, then logging back in and going there? I don’t know if that will fix it, but it has to be worth a try.

Just want to add that I too am not getting this achievement/title. I am 4/5 and I have everything done that is listed below the Emissary achievement.

I am also having the same exact problem. I have tried zoning out of Lion’s Arch and back. I’ve also tried switching characters as well as restarting the client hoping that would fix it but it didn’t.

It’s kinda trivial not having a title I probably won’t use, but it’s also annoying to see that I’ve done EVERYTHING for the achievements and still only have 4/5 overall XD

I hope I will get the achievement, I just spent 3 hours and a half doing the clock tower to see if I got 5/5 but no luck. Very tired and wanted to go to bed.

Oh no! I was not able to go to the Mad King dungeon this week, does this mean there’s no way I can get the title? Why do those 2 achievements not count?

What events count towards the Halloween Events Completed?

Do the minigames in Mad Realm count? Because I’ve been playing Reaper Rumble and haven’t gotten any progress. I need 3 more events to cap out the achievement…

Yeah, it isn’t a huge issue for me either other than the OCD aspect of seeing 4/5 when I’ve done everything else. Hope you guys find a solution and thanks.

The events achievement you’re talking about seems be counting the door events in the regular non-PvP Labrynth. For every kill-the-Veteran, kill-the-mobs or kill-the-Champion door, it goes up. It’s only a total of 10 events which you can max out very easily by joining a zerg and mindlessly slaying stuff for an hour or so. I don’t think the patch has gone out yet, so you might still have some time left to get it.

The 4/4 Mad King’s Realm needed you to go to the Labrynth, Reapers Rumble, Inquisition and the Dungeon. I am not sure if it counted the Clock Tower waiting room. All I can remember is I visited everything but the dungeon and had 3/4 and after going into the dungeon, I had 4/4.

I am having the same problem, all achievements are completed, and STATE it as well. I am at 4/5. From top to bottom:

i think to clear the problem up with not knowing what counts for what is to separate the achievements in future events

keep the special event tab but design it like this? so the stuff for the title is in its own section rather than everything being put together.

The world must be a wonderful place if this is what we have to rage over. “OMG I did an achievement but it doesnt count towards a second achievement! Ignore the fact I am going to do it anyways from the other events but its not fair!”

Just wanted to add my name to the list of those with 4/5 Emissary of the Mad King. I too have all the Special Event achievements completed, I even finished the Candy Corn Consumption in the Monthly achievements just to be sure. I put in a support request and a bug report in-game to help elevate the issue. I’m reassured by Anthony’s post and am sure a fix will be found. Thanks.

p.s. Really fun event all around. The clock tower was amazing, my wife and I spent over 2 hours on it together but both eventually succeeded. Looking forward to the next special event!
