Server time is 8:17. They have just under 4 hours to release it, relax. Something obviously hasn’t gone exactly to plan and I’m sure they’re doing everything they can to get it out on time.

it will come out at 11:59 pm and there will be a 2 hour patch time as you download 2 gigs at the same time as the whole world perks of a world release

Also, good god you people are the whiniest lot I have ever seen/heard/read. Am I upset that I won’t get to play it tonight? Sure. Do I feel betrayed by a company who still has a pretty fair bit of time to release in their native time zone? No.

Europe, deal with the fact this company is located in PST. Just because an arbitrary marker for time runs through you doesn’t mean you control time itself.

East Coast, yeah it sucks that it didn’t get uploaded sooner. But there’s tomorrow. If you legit run out of time for this event before you say “Nah, I’d rather do something else than play”, I will personally affix a flux capacitor to your vehicle of choice.

For the record, there are just over three hours left in the 22nd of October as per PST. I understand that delays happen, however the lack of communication is rather annoying, especially to see “as of October 22nd” as an ETA by the staff. There are 24 hours in a full day, so that’s a rather large window for an estimation – one that’s quickly vanishing.

For now, I’m going to assume it’ll be live sometime tomorrow (October 23rd).

I played Guild Wars for several years. Guild Wars 2 should first and foremost be a sequel to its predecessor. In the original Guild Wars when arenanet said an event would start they gave a very specific time. You could have made a countdown timer if you so chose. Guild Wars 2 on the other hand is showing to arenanets paying customers that their same attention to time is more than lacking. For instance, any typical Guild Wars event started at forgive me if I’m wrong but I think 6 a.m. Pacific Time so.. 8 a.m. or so in Texas where I live and I could count on that…EVERY time. I had planned on buying all of the gemstore halloween items, but now I don’t even know how many gems I will need and I wanted to be one of the first to be sporting one of these items. I have no clue when I will get to purchase them at all, unless you count before tomorrow. I believe “before tomorrow” is the most unsatisfactory timeframe I have ever heard of ever at all. Except perhaps “before I die.” So, arenanet I commend you on the quality of your game. I instead express immense displeasure with your communication and dedication to living up to the expectations of your dedicated gamers and we really deserve better than this next time.

Just to make one thing clear it does state at the bottom of the “Mad King” information page that:

• All times and dates are shown in US Pacific Time (UTC-7:00)

It states at the top the date for release is Oct 22, 2012 with no time specified, so technically they have until midnight PST which is unfortunate for the rest of us

Sadly it is now past 10pm CST and I have to be up at 4:30 am for work so no more checking tonight for me. I understand sometimes things happen and there are glitches or whatever but to let people know a rough estimate on how many more hours would be nice or that their would be a delay would be nice.

It’s supposed to be out now, the 22nd, not the 23rd. If they’re dealying it, they need to extend the dates as well. Oct 22 – Nov 1. Needs to extend past nov 1 to how ever many days they delay it.

On the contrary, they don’t ‘need’ to do anything. But they most likely will. To everyone waiting on the content, a dev posted about two hours back that it would launch tonight, on the 22nd. Be patient and have faith in our crunchy GW overlords. I’m sure they’re hard at work trying to make sure their first big content patch launches smoothly, if not punctually. As long as it’s quality, I think we’ll be fine.

Is anyone actually surprised they aren’t releasing on time? It takes them weeks just to fix broken skill points.

It’s possible that it isn’t the end of the world, and at the same time ArenaNet screwed up.

In fact, I believe that’s the case.

People want to argue, this gives them the excuse to do so. It doesn’t have to be one of two extremes. Be realistic.

Let alone the mess that is the Arah gates.

If they have some last minute tweaks they want to make, it’s not a huge deal if I have to wait a few more hours…even if it technically drags past midnight in whatever timezone.

Wouldn’t surprise be a bit this patch will broke/destroy something else, fixing some bugs, adding loads anomalies. Pray party split entering a dungeon is not going to happen again haha

Is anyone else unable to connect to GW now?

I am waiting anxiously to play new content and the event but I’m not so buggered about it that I feel entitled to some kind of second by second call out. Unfortunately I do have to say that this is just another example of Arenanet having a VERY poor understanding of how to communicate to its playerbase.

Since the beta they’ve done kitten poor at conveying even the smallest thing. It’s been equal parts conjecture on the part of the community and downright detective work taking quotes from one source or another and trying to apply it to the situations that have come up.

We have never been given direct, straight answers or updates about anything. Remember, they coined the term and are going to cling to it like a Koala on it’s moms back now. When it’s ready. They will not ever be any more specific than that, and we praised them for it.
