4/9 revealed, no repetition of elite weap
The fact that four specialisations don’t have the same weapon doesn’t change the chances of other professions possibly getting the same weapon. It’s just a pattern.
Table Warfare Miniatures - Armatures, Custom Miniatures, Moulds etc.
Right, it’s not about the chance, but the design pattern is becoming obvious.
Yeah, but the Rev specialization has been known for a while to be receiving a shield, just like the Mesmer. That kind of throws a stick in your hopes.

Is Rev speculated to have the shield or unofficially announced/leaked by Anet staffs?

Speculated, but we know it is Glint, and there is a Glint-wing-themed shield in the code. Since we have a tempest-warhorn, reaper Greatsword, druid staff, Chronomancer shield and Dragonhunter bow…aswell as a Staff that looks made for thieves (bo staff) that also is present in one of the datamined specialization backgrounds for thief… Saying thief cannot get Staff because of the current pattern is grasping at the last possible straw.
The fact that 2 of them have both gotten the same utility skill type tells me that repeats of weapons aren’t impossible either.
While not weapons, the tempest did get shouts, just like the reaper, showing that anet has no problem giving the same type to more than one spec.
The fact that there hasnt been anything doubled yet doesnt really say anything at all. actually, knowing that the warhorn that got datamined in the exact same batch as the thief staff only makes it more likely.
ofcourse nothing is officially announced, but i wouldn’t exctly say the chances are any different than they were before there were even any spec announcements to begin with.
Mesmer – Shield
Guard – Longbow
Necro – Greatsword
Elementalist – WarhornSo far, no repetition of elite spec weapon, by induction, we are now 50% safer to say thief is not getting staff.
Ranger-Staff
Engi- Warhammer
we know these from trailers
so thats 6/8
There was a torch as well guys.
Warrior=Torch
And you think I’m kidding? lol. Torch cosmetically looked very warrior-like in the datamine

Thief is torch
Just a thematic thing with thieves being about deception and shadows.
Much more fitting than for a warrior.

The same staff that the new thief specialization back drop (datamined) is holding is in the files as an Ascended weapon, similarly to all the other elite specialization weapons thus far datamined.
Why fight it?

Yea and anet totaly cant do this to troll people like the spear in hot announcement trailer
Edit
Talking about the thief staff and possibly the revenant shield specs here =)

That wasn’t a spear… It was a staff. Revenants use a melee staff. In fact, they had a comment on that, that they wanted the artists to be careful with their item choices as it would cause confusion and frustration. Clearly he was correct.
They aren’t making ascended weapons and art just to “fool” people. That would be a horrible waste of resources…

Yes I know it was a staff but it looked like a spear the same way that thief looks to hold a staff but could be a long rifle
Edit
And yes I looked at your pic´s earlier in this thread but whos saying they arent releaseing that skin theme on every weapon type.

Safer from what?
Those threads are really desperate, for no apparent reason.
Do you think this will have any influence on what ANet has planned for thief?

It came out as an ascended weapon with the other elite specialization weapons. Normal skins are datamined as skins or white items. It’s the same way we knew about Warhorn Ele. Plugging your ears and going lalala doesn’t really change what they added to the games files… :/

Necromancers got shouts. So did Elementalists.
Edit: And it’s 4/9 Elite Specialisations revealed.
You may want to fix the title, it should be 4/9 revealed, don’t forget that rev will also get one.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
At this point I will be incredibly amused if thieves get a staff and it turns out to be awesome. So many people angry about what they are getting.

Revenant casting some dragon thingy…..Is it Glint? Not so sure.
Getting a shield if that’s Glint? Not sure as well.
yeah, many people speculated that each class would get a different set of utilties as well, but that’s out the window since Necro and Ele both got shouts
we should know soon enough, because i would assume thief and druid are coming up quick, since they seem to have more info put into the client than warrior and engie
I’m actually somebody who is looking forward to Thief staff, I think that sounds awesome.
Yup it is 4/9, edited.
So just to recap…
Mesmer – Shield
Guardian – Longbow
Necro – Greatsword
Elementalist – Warhorn
Ranger – Staff
Engineer – Hammer
Thief – Staff
Revenant – Shield
I know its 4/9 confirmed but we can make the very educated assumption that its actually 8/9.
Someone also mentioned something about the warrior getting a torch and that it cosmetically looked very warrior-ish?

There was a picture of what looked to be a warrior holding a great-axe, but if the “Berserker” title is to be believed, then that would indicate either summon weapons or kits for the warrior elite. Even if they get a torch (which I’m honestly surprised they don’t have by default. Who better to carry a torch than a front-line warrior guiding their party through a dungeon?) I doubt it would be the selling point of the profession.
It’s all speculation until it’s released, of course, but I sure hope the teef and jughead elites get revealed soon so this can all be settled.

That skill is, or at least was, certainly Glint related, an NCSoft press image of that same skill, that was published around announcement, was named glint elite.

In other hand, we got repetition of profession skill – Shouts.
In other hand, trough the ele warhorn we got confirmed that those ascended skins datamined are the elite specs weapons skins. There was a glint shield there, and a pole staff there. This is 2 repeated profession weapons right there.
In other hand, Seens like the chances of thief getting pole staff, actually rose to 90%.
In Other hand, Staff thief seens much more amazing than WH ele. Don’t complain, or I’ll curse you to get a off hand torch.

Seriously this. Imagine a melee AoE thief class focused on martial arts. Melee staff could have some amazing animations worked in with the most acrobatic class in the game (even has a traitline named for that too!). Maybe Thief will get stances? Martial arts commonly have different offensive/defensive stances that allow for more efficient combat.

if so then theif’s sword would have ranger sword animations
as ranger’s sword is light on feet and agile. like acrobatics.
theif sword is NOT acrobatic but fits a warrior more than an acrobat…
….oh god….if the theif elite proff is a martial arts class and (in addition to staff) they give it the ranger’s sword animation to further fill the “acrobatic theme” i’d actually be happy!

I said nothing of thief sword, but it is a completely different play style than the Ranger sword, or Mesmer sword, or Warrior sword, or Guardian sword. Currently, we don’t have a martial, staff-wielding melee profession aside from the slightly-martial Revenant staff build. There is much potential with the melee staff on thief.
The fact that four specialisations don’t have the same weapon doesn’t change the chances of other professions possibly getting the same weapon. It’s just a pattern.
Thank you for knowing basic probability theory.

There were two staves, none of which looked druid-like.

the other staff looks very similar to the one the revenant was wielding in the HoT trailer, only difference is the spikey part on the top but that could be an effect that happens when it “activated” instead of sheated. (the top thing opening and putting the spikes outward)

This is very interesting. I’d love Staff for Thief. Though I was told to expect Rifle but I have no problem with Staff. I also bet that a Staff will give thieves Monk-like skills and I wouldn’t be too surprised.

Yup, even the fact that the sun rised for each day you lived as a human being doesn’t entail that it will rise again tomorrow. But I still have a good argument that it will rise again tomorrow based on induction. But the chance shouldn’t be involve because there’re too many unknowns.

Based on the available data-mined “evidences”, it is hard to argue for or against it since they are vague and ambiguous.
Based on the class/weapon revealed, we can predict unique weapon for each class (since Druid is known to have staff, so thief doesn’t). Revenant is not a good case against it since the Glint photo can very well be Glint himself.

Edit: I’m not talking about random speculation based on people wanting to use bolt on eles. I’m talking about all of the weapons being data mined and shown. There’s a pattern with the reapers gs, the tempests warhorn, the Mesmers shield and honestly it’s the same reason I believe revs are getting shield and thieves are getting staves.

Kits could make up some new weapons (2h axe) or duplicate weapons (staff) also w/o actually equipping in weapon slot.

No. You are making logical leaps here between the e-spec/weapon reveals and your predictions, which are rooted in your unfounded presumptions. Based on the class/weapons revealed, we know the class/weapons that have been revealed. Nothing more.
The idea that no first generation e-spec shall share an unlocked weapon with another first generation e-spec is a groundless assumption that is unsupported by anything ArenaNet has said on the matter. If you can find evidence from ArenaNet saying otherwise, you are more than welcome to correct me. Until then, it’s a myth, an urban legend, and an unsubstantiated assumption that somehow persists within the popular imagination of some players.
In the meantime we do have other evidence that must be taken into consideration when making predictions: datamining. And the datamined materials around the time of late June provide a much stronger case than informal logic rooted in baseless assumptions. The datamined longbow was the Dragonhunter longbow. The datamined greatsword was the Reaper greatsword. The datamined shield was the Chronomancer shield. The datamined warhorn was the Tempest warhorn. ArenaNet confirmed that the Revenant’s e-spec will be tied to Glint, and amidst this same batch of datamined e-spec weapons was a shield that looked like a crystalline dragon wing shield that is highly suggestive of a Glint motif. Furthermore, there was a staff whose design pattern is virtually identical to the weapon held by a thief in another piece of datamined concept art.
Revenant is not a good case against it since the Glint photo can very well be Glint himself.
Glint has undergone a complete ontological change and became a shield then? Is that what you are saying? This shield is Glint now?

Let me rephrase the question for you, then. Do we have any proof that Druid gets staff? Proof other than a video where ANet admitted that the art team took confusing liberties with things? A video older than the datamined Elementalist sword skills? Yes, they’ve stated the name of the Elite, but have they ever actually said that they get staff for their weapon?
Is it really a good idea to say we know what weapon Druid has?
