BETA weekend achievements [merged]
Good catch.
I think it is there to give players an idea of where to go and what to complete (so that they are knowing what to test), but as to whether it is for BWE2 or perhaps an Open Beta down the line, I’m not sure.
One would think that we could actually earn these permanently, as why else would they have actually given them an AP value if they to be removed at the end of the beta?
Just my thoughts.
I’m more interested by the 5 mastery point than the 5 APs.
i wish if some dev would answer this
Hey guys, in preparation for HoT I am interested in gaining many Achievement points as my last goal before the expansion. right now in just under 7k and im wondering if any one has any advice as to how i can make dramatic gains (if possible) in the month and a half till release.
I do the dailies. (Some from the PvE and some from WvW. One the PvE side I do have quite a few nodes in my home instance so I can usually get those done fast. Then there is the “View a Vista” that is easy. Oh of course there is the other easy one of “Mystic Forge” thing. Even if you don’t like WvW there are a few there that are super easy like “Big Spender” or “Take a Ruin” or even “Kill a Veteran” there are 2 easy to get to and the vet animals are pretty easy to kill.)
After the dailies there are the AP given for the “Slayer” ones. One of my chars is set up with just certain weapon’s just to do some of the “Weapon Master” ones. There are also some of the Basic Collections that are easy to do for those AP’s. You could also do the all the JP’s and the Diving Goggles. Then there is also the AP’s for doing the story on different races and stuff. Then there are the “Explorer” ones.
Lots of ways to get AP’s if that’s what you want. Trick for me was to not work on any one achievement all at once as that could (and did) get very boring very fast. It took me getting a Zap precursor dropped in SW from a trash mob to get me to finally buckle down to do “Map Completion” about 2 months ago and that’s after playing the game since head start.
Living Story achievements will give a nice chunk as well and aren’t terribly difficult.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
I’m pretty high ranked on the leader board and I’m willing to help out.
If I’m in your situation, my priority would be to get the achievements that might actually disappear first.
Active Guild Member is 45 points. it’s super easy to get (you can buy it) and its almost certainly gone when influence goes.
I’m also worried about what will happen with Karma, so go ahead and get those now too.
Drunkard 10 points, buy it with 700,000 karma
Fashion finish the cheap avhievements here by getting all of the cheap skins you can for karma, then getting all of the cheap badges.
Once that low hanging fruit is gone, try
Salvage. 150 points for salvaging, and if you buy the right materials and sell the mats, it’s profitable too.
Belchers Bluff 80 points for playing 5 fun mini games against AI and then finding a buddy to grind out the rest. Really fast!
Edge of the Mists 75 points available just for doing the upgrade events at the speciality and jumping off the tower. really fast, not grindy.
Southsun Survival. The first 60 games of this that you play, you will get about 95 achievement points, or more than one point per game! Then the rate falls off and you do other things.
Costume Brawl. Hard to get most of the time, but you can level up 6 points of thus fast during the Halloween event which iscoming!
Jumping Puzzles. 450 points. Get ports for kittenes! The diving goggles are also mostly really easy to get and you can get an additional 20 points fast which skipping the challenging ones. anet previously teased reworks to jumping puzzles, which means some of these achievements could be retired so get them now
Dungeons. get Dungeon master. There are paths that are hard to pug, pay for these if you have to but get dungeon master. Once you get dungeon master, the next 200 dungeon paths that you do give you one point each
Aetherpath. I see people selling all 17/17 achievements on the LFG
Silverwastes & Dry Top. There are a lot of avhievements available just or spending some (not even a lot) of time in the area
Personal Story. Its a good time to finish this if you haven’t already. Then, doing a black lion key run once or each Race is another 20 points per race.

nekretaal.6485’s advice is good. (I was looking for nits to pick and I can’t find any. )
GW1 HoM is also a good choice, especially if you are looking for a change from same-old GW2 stuff. (Disclaimer: I loved GW1 and now I can’t play it any longer — I’ve been spoiled by GW2.)
The downside is you have to buy one campaign (Prophecies, Factions, or Nightfall) and the expansion (Eye of the North) and invest a fair bit of time. Also, you’re not going to get all 500 points between now and 23 October. 300 points is doable, if you have friends/guildies donate materials (esp minis) to the cause.
I think the money is a worthwhile investment — many people love the game and play it still. Just remember: it’s a 10-year old co-play game, with none of the bells & whistles (or massively multiplayer features) of GW2.
There’s also a lot of explorer achievements beyond just unlocking areas. You can consult the Dulfy guides to zip through them for 10 AP each.
I noticed the Beta Weekend achievements in the General achievements tab. I really like the Mastery Point reward for completing those achievements!! It also acts as a nice guide for things to do while playing in BWE2!

Many threads already open on the topic, one large example to be this one.

We don’t know yet. There is a new achievement set in the hero panel which might be for this beta and might transfer over to the main account, but ANet has yet to clarify it.
ANet may give it to you.
Highly unlikely. Beta is like Vegas. What happens in Beta stays in Beta. This was a necessary system to put in place to stop people from unlocking things they shouldn’t be in beta and then having access to them in the normal game.

There are six beta achievements you can only unlock during BWEs with your beta characters. The rewards are mastery points and achievement points.
Yeah, but everything you gain or lose on a beta character is not saved to your main account. Those six 1 AP’s are probably just for testing out as part of making sure they unlock/reward properly in the new zone.

So I did some transmuting of my armor on my beta character last weekend, did they refund those?

The transmutation was off of a copy of your main account so it didn’t even touch the main account’s T charges.
ANet may give it to you.

Sweet! I was hoping that I had not lost them but never checked the counts to see if I had.

I can’t play this weekend due to labor day camping trip.
I am hoping these are optional, but I think they are not.

They have no influence on your official account. The beta characters will be deleted before launch and the achievements as well.
I wonder why have beta achievements in the list if it not for your main anyways, even if it just 5 points.
The easiest way to tell if they carry over is to complete one event at either outpost, then log out and back on your main account and see if the achievement unlocked there as well. If it didn’t, then they’re obviously only for helping beta characters get a few more Mastery points for playing around.
As an AP hunter myself, I’ll be doing that first thing on the weekend to see if it’s worthwhile completing them.

Another reason to do them is the meta reward of an extra Mastery point (or two, don’t remember). Might be just what is needed to unlock something you want.
ANet may give it to you.
It will be so kittening stupid if those points add up in your live account.
any news wether these achievements will carry over to non beta chars?
So, i noticed under the “General” there is a “Beta Weekend” category. The achievements themselves don’t look hard, but from the way I understand it, beta characters create a clone of your account. So, if that is true, how does it record your achievement.
It is rather late here and I’m tired, so if I’m missing something obvious don’t judge me too hard
Record the achievement on the main account? It doesn’t.
An update to whether the Beta Weekend achievements apply to the main account would be nice.
So how this will work. Is it added to my main account or only to beta characters? If its for main account should I achieve it with normal or beta char?
Tekkit’s Workshop
After the Deus Ex pre-order rubbish, wouldn’t be surprised if achievements were behind a pre-order paywall.
Nobody knows for sure right now, but since normal characters can’t get into Verdant Brink, only beta characters will be able to complete them. So the real question is whether the AP and Mastery points earned via these achievements will carry back to your main account, or disappear once the BWE’s end.
You’ll be able to test that easily by just completing a single event at either of the two outposts on a beta character, then switching to a normal character and seeing if the achievement is unlocked on your main account. If it is, odds are likely it will stay.
My personal feeling is that it will. It’s a way to reward the early pre-purchasers of HoT with a teeny bit extra AP and Mastery points to give them a jumpstart when HoT is out. (We don’t know yet how many Mastery points HoT will have, but I suspect that there will be more than enough to max out all the different Masteries.)
Dailies are also “permanently missable achievements” if your gripe is missing out on achievement points. So are event achievements.
Dailies are capped. Js.
Does anyone know if the Beta Achievements save to your many account when the beta is completed?
And were these achievements here for the last beta?
Player asks a question about information that has not been disseminated.
A) Dev reads and as the information being requested is pertinent to a lot of players and is a simple yes/no answer, takes less than a minute of their time to respond accordingly – Result: Everyone happy – Well done Anet +1 for communication
B) Dev reads and ignores. Result: This is why many players consider Anet’s communication to so be poor.
I’m curious about the Beta Weekend achievements that got added on update less than two weeks ago. I’ve seen many question threads regarding them but no answer by far.
I have a problem. I’m one of those achievement hunters who likes to do every achievement that’s available. I’m assuming those achievements are something that get awarded permanently as there is no reasonable reasons to add AP awarding achievements to general section if they will get wiped after BWE ends. So after I found out about the Beta Weekend achievements I realized that I have to order HoT to complete them. I decided to go for official retailer in Finland, because that way I can get the dvd-cover and it was a kitteneaper too (I’m a student so every cent counts). Well, the order did not come by today which means I won’t get to play on this BWE. But if the achievements that got added are made so you cannot complete them on the next BWE, then I need to complete them now which means I have to buy HoT directly ingame and return the other order. Which is quite a bit of useless hassling if the achievements are still doable on the next BWE.
So is it possible to get clarification about those achievements, are they only placeholder of something that will get removed anyways or something that you achieve to your account permanently (kind of bonus gift to those who play on BWE), and will I be able to complete those same achivements on the next BWE so I won’t miss out those if I can’t play on this BWE.
And just to clarify, I will buy HoT in either ways so it’s not about that.
I wonder why it takes anet so long to give us a simple and short yes or no answer.
Ok I just tested this. Did the kill 1 Hylek one. Does not appear on your regular character. So unless Anet will transfer those achievements to the real accounts after Beta they are useless to do.
These achievements make little sense to me, and what is worse is that no dev has attempted to explain their purpose or any of our questions about them, you know if you don’t want to take 2 minutes to explain it then I wont bother testing your game.

You do them for the mastery points, not the AP.

In addition, they are probably testing the achievement systems with the Masteries in the new area.
ANet may give it to you.
What is the point of them if they don’t carry over into the real game?
Gives you something to do while you test on your beta characters.
You get mastery points and you help them test them out to make sure the achievements progress and complete properly. It’s also a nice checklist of things to do.

each of the six (?) gives a mastery point?
Please give us a keyring…

I only briefly glanced at them but I seem to remember that they all awarded mastery points. I know that Guide to the Perplexed definitely does.

I guess I’ll have to spam this thread so it stays on top until we get some kind of clarification. Spam.
I wanna know too

What more clarification do you need? They’ve stated numerous times, it’s even at the top of the screen in game, that all progress on beta characters is not saved. Nothing received or done on a beta character will transfer over to your main account.
This is probably included to make sure people have enough mastery points to keep advancing their masteries since most other ways of acquiring mastery point are not available yet.
