Hello. I pre-purchased HoT already, but I wanted to know if you can play the expansion with pre-existing characters or if you need to create a new one to enable to new features? Thanks.

You will be able to use all existing characters to play HoT once the expansion launches on 23rd October.

The beta characters you are using now are solely for that – the beta – and will be deleted come the release of HoT. This is to prevent players from receiving new items and progressing the new systems (masteries etc) before the expansion actually launches, and of course, to test.

You need to make a Beta Character to play the Beta but when the full expansion releases on the 23rd Oct then you will play it with pre-existing characters.

You can play with your old characters when it comes out if you have linked (might not be the right terminology) your old account with the HoT purchase.
