Q:

Sorry if somebody already asked about this, but I can’t find anything. Elite Specializations will be avaliable for everyone or just for HoT buyers?

I suspect that only those who have purchased Heart of Thorns will have access to the new Elite Specializations.

However, as sPvP will automatically unlock the Elite Specializations for you without having to unlock them yourselves, part of me thinks they will be available for everyone in sPVP in order to keep equality and balance in check.

They are HoT-only. However, the aim is that they are not stronger than core specializations thus people without HoT should be as strong as people with HoT. To what extent that is true is something that is difficult to predict.

Yeah, I’m pretty worried about p2w with this elite specs. Scary stuff, you know. Epsecially in sPvP

That’s not scary. For now, if anything most elite seem underpowered versus the core specialisation. So even if one or two end up on the meta list, they won’t be that much powerful than the core build. I don’t see any problem. Now if one of those elite create a very powerful build like the DD Cele Elementalist, that could be a problem, but I douldt that from what I saw until now.

I don’t see a hint of trinity in GW2.

In PvE it’s a duality. DPS and Support. And there is no specialisation. Everybody participate in both.

In sPvP it’s more of different role. Brawler, Bunker, Roamer, etc

The backlash of that would be nasty. They thought they had an issue with free core game + free character slot issues with newbies/vets…..let them give elite specs to pvp players without even purchasing HoT and see how that works out lol.

I would like to agree with a previous poster that said that the new elite specs are looking less powerful than core specs, but then again…there’s always the warrior bias in GW2.
