Gerent much easier now
HAHAHHAHAHAH
Finally.
I’m glad they did this. It needed to be brought more in line with the other metas. It was failing way too much.
I’ve done it a couple of times before this nerf and it used a lot of effort. Especially, it was a DPS check and I don’t think this belongs into an open world. Hence it’s a good decision to tone it down.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
Now, about that pesky Triple Trouble…..
This make me sad. :[
This kinda makes me sad as well.
I don’t think the problem wasn’t that much that it was a DPS race, but that it took waaaaaay too long from the point where the map finished the events up until the Gerent event started, so people in an organised map had to choose between leaving the map to do other stuff and risk not getting back in the same instance, or remaining there faffing about uselessly for about 60-90 minutes. Yes, there are other events and adventures, but those are not really something to fill your hour with, unless you really really like those specific adventures (and since one of them is the golem punchy one…). It’s just such a huge time sink. Well, at least for me, but I got this impression as well from a lot more players.
We didn’t need another world boss-type encounter to add to the tour…
I pug orga this map and have over 30 kills and got hivemaster last week. This is sad that people just couldn’t learn to talk and read. I’m at least glad I see others with the same opinions now though. I hope they have messed up the scaling and the reason its easy now is we are actually getting lowest level gerants possible as it is trying to not raise the scale too much as people join and being too slow about it.
Gerent is now fun open world content.you want hard go do raids.thanks for listening to your players anet.
fun open world content taxi 5 mins before boss and rush it pressing 1? ok. I guess you guys are the one who stomp spores when no beetles are nearby

I’m with berserk on this one. The only problem was the timer making it too frustrating when you failed, who wants to stand around a flipping hour and a half after meta events doing nothing?
Well the mindless “we want Netflix content” people finally convinced ANet to tone it down. Sad because now its just as boring as DS and AB, press 1 to win woohoo!
Gonna be fun to see when they nerf the next piece of content for being “too hardcorez” for the scrubs who play this game.
It’s been a while since I’ve played the Dragon Stand or Auric Basin meta, but I’m sure you have to do a lot more than press 1 to win.
You really don’t Nilk, AB can be done with no nunlocked wps on a low tier map by 12-15 in lane now, I have orga’d it 5 mins in to challenge on map jump now. DS is a literal zerg, the only people who have even a slight job are the boss kill teams.
There are prons and cons to these changes.
Pros -
You’ll have more people playing TD, more people doing the events and perhaps giving the map a chance. (I believe this is what Anet wants, for everyone to get a chance to enjoy the content. For in all honesty, the vast majority of players I saw during Chak Gerent before were averaging 90 mastery or so.)
Easier to drop in for a down and be done with it, as in you don’t have to tie yourself down for the event chain for hours on end to find a decent map.
Cons -
Less of a challenge for those seeking it, which in turn equals another zergfest. (Honestly I can’t think of anymore drawbacks than this to it.)
—
I figured they would nerf the content sooner or later as but a fraction of the playerbase cared to head into TD, and one could argue day and night about it being justified or not. More so since you have three casual maps to play, leaving TD quite a challenge in comparison to the others.
Personally, I found the pre-nerf TD pretty awesome. It was a challenge, but it wasn’t too hard in my opinion. Ran through it with Steve in the previous posts, some runs were successful, others not. But with Anet giving fails rewards as well, it remained fun even while failing.
However, I do understand why this nerf was handed down. TD was for most part empty, unless you ran it with a pug commander. Teamspeak wasn’t needed, but some kind of organisation was required I’d say. Commanders communicating with the new people, hoping they listened or knew their business. And most importantly of all, you couldn’t slack with the dishing of damage.
With that being said though, I’m sure there are more pros and cons to this (obviously.) but I personally don’t mind this change, intended or not. I’ll still be going through it, shame about it being easier now, but I understand them changing Gerent.

Doesn’t matter, more ppl will enjoy it.
your glee about the change really shows the motivation behind your crusade to get this nerfed, hope the next season of Lost pairs well with pressing 1 and f
Lol @ all you people complaining about “Press 1 to win”
You sure seem to know a lot about good game design, I’d love to hear how you would create genuinely challenging open-world content with the systems of GW2 that is also accessible to enough people that it’s worth the tremendous effort of making it. Oh by the way, you only have like 20 developers for your brand new amazing content team, and the deadline is in 9 months, so good luck!
Or you can just keep fluffing your own egos by belittling people who don’t have the same skills and/or interests as you. You definitely look really smart and talented.
I don’t think DS is about press 1 to win, the failure chance is also around 20-30%, it just gave u chance to try again before time ran out.
This game should not be used to accomplish success in life…for that you have real life.
This is a game to enjoy and relax. ANet saw the light and decreased the difficulty of Chak Gerent…good move.
For the hardcore gamers you still have the raids…enjoy them.

Sorry we don’t really enjoy dragging our knuckles across the keyboard. we were just hoping HoT would be what the advertised for PvE. Now was Chak garent a bit hard, yeah, in comparison to the amount of time you need to do the pre events to the actual thing happening. That was what made it frustrating, also it is the only way to realiably get crystals.
But hey, no worries, keep on crusading and pretty soon you guys will have this game back to tyria level of difficulty. Cause who wants to actually think?
A bit hard? Failing over and over after a hour or so of preparation each time because of a slip up or bug was not “a bit hard”. It was ridiculous.
And, unless they removed all the mechanics involved in that meta aside from the gerent itself, saying it’s now “press 1 to win” is just wrong, period.
