Guild Hall Decorations limit is not 2k.
I would also like to hear some clarification to this since we are having the same problem too.
Still no information about this.. Is the actual limit some kind of secret and if it is, for what reason?

It’s the holidays. Don’t expect much word for another week on any topic.
At least you can still place them…
Still want an answer on this one pwease
The maximum number of decorations is 1000.
Thanks for the answer.
Is there any chances for the cap to rise? 1000 is very low cap considering the huge size of the halls. Ours still feels almost empty at cap and we don’t even have the lvl 40 exploration yet.
1000 would be fine for a hall 1/10 of current size.
The maximum number of decorations is 1000.
Well I hate to point this out….but that is not what I was told. I was told by two GMs literally two-three days ago in an email that the limit is still 2000.
This was the reply I got when asked if the limit was still 2000 and why it was that my guild had reached the limit at 994 decorations placed.
“I did some investigation into this issue for you. From what I was able to uncover is that yes there is a limit of 2000 items to be used in a Guild Hall, however, from what I’ve read there is a limit in each area of the Guild Hall. So for the specific area you are placing items down the limit could be 994 as you’ve stated. I know some other players have stated certain rooms they can only place so much furniture before they reach a cap for that specific area.
I hope this info helps clear up the issue a bit more. I know it’s a bummer to hit a cap, but maybe if a lot of folks voice their concern maybe in the future something could change. Let me know if there is anything else we can help you with.

After this I pointed out why their theory about the cap limit being 994 due to “specific areas” didn’t make sense and was unlikely to be the problem (which I won’t repost here – look to link at bottom for details). I then ask them if the 2000 decoration cap was locked behind the Further Exploration Upgrade:
“That might be the case here. I would say the jumping puzzle might have had too many pieces to it. If you don’t mind, could you tell us if the cap increases after upgrading? It is logical that the development team would make the limit size upgradeable. I’m pretty sure its suppose to go by the size per small room, to add up to the limit of 2000. Let us know when you have more information though, Please.

In both cases I was told that the cap limit was indeed, factually 2000. So why the two different answers now? If you want I still have the entire email chain. I be more than happy to forward it to you to see what we’ve discussed thus far, just pm an address to send it to.
Better yet, I’ll just leave this here: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Decoration-Limit-is-not-2000-it-is-994/first#post5903807
Happy reading.
Oh and 994=/1000. I don’t care it only 6 off. It still not 1000. And yes… I have checked on two separate occasions on two separate days. It is still 994. No, I am not checking a third time- I have a headache and I am going to go rest my head now.
@Xanthia, The cap is 1000, and supported by what others and Zachary have said about not being able to place more than that. No need to get your knickers in a twist because someone in customer support may have gotten it wrong.
@Baamoink I am simply informing you that when I checked the count for how many decorations where actually placed in the guildhall (Gilded Hallow) it came up with exactly 994 and no more. I had to do the count on two separate occasions (one on discovery and another for testing purposes). There really isn’t anything more I can say about that…it is what it is. Honestly though, this really isn’t the point I wanted to focus on.
I do want to discuss that there is discrepancy between what is being stated as the actual intended cap for decorations. Two say it is 2000. One says it is 1000. They are both recent statements that were made by official employees of Anet. I am just pointing out the conflicting statement and hoping someone here (an employee with the codes in front of them) can recheck and confirm what it is. I am pretty sure that is a reasonable request.
I get it, some of you are going to say “They did just say it is 1000! Look! Right there!” But as I said, in the emails I had, two (or one with different names?) employee(s) said otherwise to me recently, and even stated they “investigated” that it was indeed 2000. So forgive me if I am a little confused. I mean you are assuming that the employees stating it was 2000 are wrong. So why can’t I assume the one stating 1000 is mistaken? Because people aren’t able to place more than 1000 decorations? How do we know that is not a bug? We could argue all day back and forth who we think is right….but I’d rather just wait for a higher up to drop in and lay it down. That is why I am asking.
I am not accusing anyone of making false claims, and I am not screaming for someone to get fire over a mistake. Relax. I am just pointing out there is a difference in what was said… and I would like to be clarified on what the actual official statement is on this matter. If it turns out it really is coded at 1000…okay that is it then. Then we can move on to the next step (rallying for them to increase it! wink wink ).
Oh and ummm if it is 1000 you(Anet employee) might want to consider letting someone at your support team know. I think it will help them. I could do it but I am not really getting paid to be their messenger. XD Or don’t….I guess it doesn’t really matter. shrugs Who knows!

Sorry, I don’t normally moan, it this is crap
There was a poi video or some other video or blog information before HoT saying decor space would be in the thousands.
Now I just need to find this again.
Guild halls are a big money and time waster, members don’t use them at least allow to to make cool jumpy things for fun without limitations

Don’t worry about it, I already have it here. I bookmarked it (plus other 3rd party sources) in case someone randomly wanted to suggest that the 2000 cap limit thing was entirely made up by the player base. I know, crazy idea but that is what popped into my head so I went ahead and gathered some stuff. I didn’t really end up using it though.

Thanks for this. I also did a stealth edit on my post. My phone changes stuff lol
So we can add this onto the list of broken promises/screws along with fractals, dungeons and WvW.
Happy new year

I did not write this code so I unfortunately do not have a definite answer to this, but I think this number is based on a technical constraint.

but is there any chance that the number of items that can be placed will be increased?
in my Bank Guild hall i just hit the 1000 limit when working on a 600 piece stairway through the skies after already having done 2 jumping puzzles that lead all around the GH but i cant finish the last bit of the stairway to the bottom because of this limit
:/
just want to know if there is any chance this will be possible or if i have to completely rework everything and try to save any item that i can

Anet, please increase the decoration limit or remove it entirely. You have huge maps filled with decorations. Does every map have a 1k cap? If you can’t remove or raise it, please explain why. We’re finding ourselves stressing over the limit.

It’s an arbitrary number (1000) tied to a technical issue (most computers can’t process that many decorations without crashing people out of the GH). It sounds as if someone might have hard-coded the “1000” to prevent the game from accidentally overriding the limit, which would complicate changing the number. However, it also sounds as if there needs to be a limit and it’s going to be close to 1000, no matter how much time ANet spends trying to change it. (At least, until they overhaul the graphics engine, which probably isn’t something on the table until GW3, if that ever happens.)
1000 map decoration limit is less of an issue than the radius limit IMO.
1000 decorations is a lot, but when you can only get like 10 decorations, regardless of size, within a 30 foor area it makes a lot of the small decos like cushions, candles, etc. nearly useless. You can’t decorate a room with furniture and also put a couple candles and cushions in logical places, etc.

Yes, it would be great if the limit was increased. We just hit the limit too and there are still so many areas that are bare, welove decorating the guild hall. And a lot of the stuff is just really small… I mean: Candles? Lamps? Just tiny but often they just look so awesome, especially placed in trees.
Building jumping puzzles and stuff is also way too much fun And now we have a ton of super adventure clouds….
It would also be beneficial to actually have some kind of count so you can see how many things you have placed in the guild hall.
Bump.
Still highly requested for a lot of people. Would love to hear any updates if this cap is gonna get increased someday.

I think this topic should be kept toward the top for discussion. My reasoning there is not that many guilds that have even realized the decoration cap yet. It is an expensive and tedious process for many smaller guilds and even medium sized ones to even reach that point. Myself I feel it is a very small cap when you have so many things and options that you can pick from.
I would like to see the current cap raised if possible and maybe even a counter in the decoration panel which would show how close the guild is to reaching it’s cap. If the current cap is not going to be raised then at least a guild which is spending gold on decorating would be able to see how close it is to reaching a cap before it spends hours on decorating. Until looking into the decorating process itself, I have guild members that have made and sold legendary weapons to help with decorating. A very cool and nice touch to personalize a guild hall but I doubt anyone would have done such a thing if they realized that only a fraction of a guild hall would be able to be decorated. It’s definitely a gold sink and something I’m sure was intended as such but as it stands a lot of guild halls will probably go without being decorated because of the time also involved. It is probably the most timely and costly thing a gamer can do at the moment.
I would like to see a counter which shows the number of decorations currently spent without having to add up each one individually. A percentage bar showing how close the guild hall is toward saturation would also be nice since placement on items will also factor in. As it stands now, you only know when you reach this cap after you’re unable to place anything at all in your guild hall. You are then left to decide which things you want to delete so you can decorate other areas after spending hours getting areas where you like them in the first place. This will only anger many players and you have not IMO seen very many guild halls reach this point yet.

Technical constraint? That’s unfortunate. Hopefully you guys can figure out a way to increase the limit, because the halls are really huge

The idea of a counter for currently placed items is that something which would even work ? It would be a help when planning what to decorate and what not to decorate so guilds could leave some things bare perhaps and leave them open for holiday and special decorations when the time comes around.
