So with the October 23rd release date (exciting!), a thought occurred to me. If you guys do a 3-day head start for it like you did with the release of the core game, it would be on my cake day. I’m not going to beg for a 3 day head start, but if you did do one it would be awesome because of the day. Sure, it would be on a Tuesday, but the core game was officially released on 28 August 2012 (a Tuesday).

Here’s to hoping I can have my cake and eat it, too.

For vacation planning purposes, are prepurchasers going to get any type of headstart similar to core game release date?

I presume they will release any potential for a headstart date with tomorrow’s PAX announcements.

If they were going to do a head start, it would have been listed as one of the bonuses when purchasing it.

It would be good to know for those of us who want to take time off work for the release, but who would qualify for an early release? Since it’s digital purchase we have all pretty much “preordered”, otherwise someone can purchase the game at any time now.

If they had a headstart then that would just become the new release day since people could just buy HoT on whatever day it’s first open for play.

I hope not. Will mess up with my vacation week in taking off work. Coming out on a Tuesday or Wednesday would kinda stink

You are right, but I still think it would have been awesome timing. Besides, who says they can’t add it in later? It would boost sales, that’s for sure.

Yeah I understand what you mean. But remember, the core game was officially released on a Tuesday. Those who did not get the head start started on a Tuesday.

Or if not this, then IGN would have bungled this out as well.

Headstarts don’t really happen with expansions :P

not much info is known. Arenanet only ever released one expansion ever. That was Eye of the North. There people had a sneak peak weekend bout 4 days before launch (but not till launch). That however was more the equivalent of the BWE’s I don’t think there will be a headstart. only GW2 core game had that and it was announced as a pre-order bonus.

I always thought a big part of the reason for doing a headstart was to reduce the load on the servers by staggering when people start, and so the inevitable crashes and lag which result from everyone trying to get on at the same time affect preorder/purchase customers who are more likely to stick with the game in spite of that.

Since HoT uses the same servers and everyone who bought it can play already that’s not needed.

That would be cool.

Unlikely that there would be one since it is not part of the pre-purchase information.

I’d be happy if they just let me use revenant early. So I can at least get it through personal story and pvp with it.

I’m more concerned if the new maps can handle the large swarm of new players.

After all we don’t want this to happen….
