No thanks.
We did sort of already have that. It was called Living World Season 1.
On a serious note, the “Watchwork Invasions” of Season 1 used to occasionally appear on a random map, which were effectively invasions of NPC’s swarming in random spawn locations around a map. After some time and certain conditions being met, a boss (Scarlet) would spawn, and the invasion would end upon its death.
It would be nice if something like that was re-implemented, although it might cause some frustration to newer players that would have their progress interrupted suddenly by large zergs invading their map.

If you noticed, the Scarlet ones on random maps fizzled out after a while. They would get announced on the UI, be well attended for some days, then you could go and be lucky to run into more than a handful of people. Whatever zerg type content that is thought up, has to be short term or highly rewarding if you want to keep people returning.
ANet may give it to you.
absolutely i do!
i’ve always thought blizzard should have done this in WoW..outside of hyjal raid
take LS1 to the next level imo
especially with the new elite specializations and types of mobs we are fighting
+1 to this one. to avoid any interruptions to the new players this could be kept in the level 80 maps.
I find extremely boring the one big immobile hit box as world bosses, mobile champions is so interesting so you can’t spam 1 while afking for 10 minutes.
For those who says with scarlet didn’t work i just have to say that then it wasn’t implemented the megaservers and thus it was very difficult to organize anything during the week.
But for the shake of Melandru please allow the trash mobs to drop something. it’s very frustrating to have to kill so many trash mobs and get nothing in return. Gives the impression they are promoting the AFK behavior until the boss comes (best example bottom lane in SW VW)
Anyone ever played fly for fun xD they had this. Would be fun if done right cos it really gives a sense of unity between players if the mobs raid an absolute normally safe zone city or at least like if they were to invade the ebonhawke city/fortress in fields of ruin for example.
