I don’t think there was an official price announced yet, but I found this kind of interesting …

$44? That’s kind of a lot for most of the content that should have already been in the game.

So will we be paying for another full rich game like the orginal? Or are we paying full price for a few more map zones, a new class, and a new mastery system that can only be used in those zones?

No.
We had the same kind of stuff happening leading up to the original release of GW2. Some sites started listing speculative dates and such, possibly just because they needed place-holders in their databases.

Until you see information officially from Arena Net themselves, anything else cannot be relied upon to be correct.

Even $44 would not be the full price of the game at release. The most inexpensive edition was $60. The DDE was $80.

Regardless, there has been no official announcement about price or release, so no one has any idea (save the Devs, themselves).

I for one would be happy to pay $44, as I do not pay a sub fee for this game

Exactly. The hundreds of dollars you save over the years of playing a buy-to-play MMO such as this is well worth it.
If I pay monthly for an MMO I feel more obligated to log in for daily quests, meet personal goals faster and overall feeling rushed to do things. I don’t feel that way about this game which is good.

Since the launch of this game I’ve only reached 30 as my highest character level. Now that isn’t to say I don’t like it, I just feel that I have the ability to prioritize life and other games accordingly without feeling obligated to hop in due to a monthly fee and the time constraint that comes with one.

I look forward to trying out the druid-ish looking alternate option for my 30 Ranger.

Seeing as I’ve played this game for about three Years (counting betas) and still have fun with it, and A net IMO are one of the most respectable gaming companies. I’d gladly pay $44 for HoT
In fact I’m putting about 100 aside in case they have a shiny CE .. Can’t wait till they let us preorder and release >.>

All proffesions 80

I don’t think they’d charge more for the expansion than they do the full game. My guess is it will be $20-30, probably $24.99. I can’t see them charging much more for three maps, a new profession, and no new race.

44$ is too much for that kind of content. This is maybe preorder. Fair price would be 20-30$ (if they want to bring back players)

It is basically unheard of with AAA game-expansions for under 39,99$.
We also KNOW we don’t have all information about what will be in the expansion.

So a new proffession
Specializations for every profession (including the new one)
New maps ( cause we dont know if it will be 3 with multiple layers or 5)
Guild halls
New in game mechanics ( condi-cap raise, gliding, crafting + what ever they decide to reveal)
New story
New WvW map ( which is huge )
New PvP game mode
New skins
New achievements
New jumping puzzles
New legendaries
New weapons
New Armor

AND NO MONTHLY FEE’S

39.99-59.99 is what I expect
that is reasonable for a company like Arena Net ( especially seeing as how other games that had a monthly fee charged you the same thing)
Would I like a new dungeon added to that
Yes.
But, seeing as how they can add them later, I’m not to worried

Not really.

The expansion feels like Living World Season 3 with a few extras. If we didn’t already have a lack of content in game due to the Gem Store I would still agree with you, though, in that 39.99 would be a fair price.

But with ArenaNet saying that they will only manage to add a “handful” of legendaries with HoT while they keep a steady flow of new complex weapon skins in the Gem Store… Sorry. We don’t pay a monthly fee, but we already lose enough due to the in-game store.

Actually you don’t lose anything because of the gem store.

You don’t lost the ability to play.
You aren’t forced to buy skins
You aren’t forced to grind.

Everything you pay for in this game is by choice.
YOU CHOOSE to waste money on skins.

Secondly, having played the entry level beta, I had fun. I look forward to the change we get to classes and I look forward to the Rev.

I could understand if the information we have gotten was the entirety of HoT.
So far, we have gotten vague responses and speculations.

But unless you know more about the expansion, How do you figure its a Living world Season 3?

Do you know specifically how many legendaries they are adding?
Do you know how the classes will change with specalizations?
Do you know of the other boss and world encounters they are adding?
Do you know about how guild halls will work?
Did you see the new game improvements they are adding(like the condi cap raise)?

Have you explored all the new maps?
Do you even know how many new maps we are getting?
Did you find the new achievements to be to trivial?

Do you have any indepth information to basically compare this expansion with the living world seasons?

I predict a price between 19.99 Euro and 29.99 Euro, The expansion is smaller than the original game. Therefore HoT should be cheaper at launch.

I was thinking the same thing,i was compairing it to blizzards expansions being like what..30-50$? activision is money hungry, but anet isn’t, so yeah maybe 20$

It will be $40 or a bit more. If you are too cheap to pay that then the rest of us will have fun in the jungle without you.

They lost so many players in this recent years, putting way too much price will drove ppl away.

Probably not.
There is no way of knowing who will buy it unless you make a pole.
And I’m going to guess, the majority are going to buy it.

The people that left the game didn’t leave because of the price.
They left because the game offered nothing else new they were interested in.
Put in a new shiny and the majority of those players will come back, clear the content and leave again.
But they will come back none the less.

Then you will have people that wont buy it because they don’t want to pay for it.
5 months later those players will be left behind or cave and buy it sooner.

I’m guessing the latter.

The price honestly has nothing to do with people that have already left. They didn’t leave because the game cost to much. That arguement for a $20 dollar price tag is kinda silly.

$40 is pretty standard for an expansion. It is like when a new subscription based mmo comes out. At first they say they don’t have pricing details yet but everyone knows it’s going to be $15 a month.
