I feel like revenant is a very forced conclusion and dont believe its anything to do with it. To me i instantly got the challenging content vibe. But it could equally just be lore or some non class/spec feature.

I think people are just grasping too hard to seem creative. It’s most likely more Revenant coverage with the Ventari line, or something about Maguuma Wastes lore.
My far-fetched argument for why it isn’t challenging group content or druid is because Ventari’s stats are all defensive and Asura rangers can’t devolve into lesser beings! /sarcasm

Revealing a single legend, and possibly one of their weapons, is the same content as an elite spec reveal for any other profession. Why would transforming into a centaur have anything to do with it? I never mentioned that and only people talking about druids have said that.
Also, I doubt challenging content would solely deal with centaurs, let alone Ventari himself. That’s like if they showed off Fractals for the first time with just a teaser image of Mai Trin. Like that would make any sense.
It only makes sense as a lore reference. But a lore reference can also be related to challenging content. Id say its most likely to do with pure lore like some kind of deep dive into centaurs (similar to the jungle hylek blog post). But theres a slim chance its something else linked to lore.
Class and spec reveal images have been really obvious and representative of the class/spec they are teasing. This is a centaur with thorns. So the only way thats representative of revenants ventari legend is if we get to transform into a centaur as one of the abilities. But thats highly unlikely to me. Hence i feel revenant is a major grasp at straws.

Okay but I think whatever it is, is clearly not a Druid thing. I’m betting on Rev with an outlook of being:

June 19th: Review of E3 information released

I’d like to above all bet this has literally zilch to do with Rangers. I mean, come on, this should be obvious fact by now. Sit down Rangers and wait your turn.
With that said I’m going to place my bet on Revenant Legend. Those talking about grasping at straws, that’s just silly. Everyone is grasping at straws, and no one argument is more convincing than the next, unless you’re talking about druids, in which case you’re just flat out wrong.

The revenant assumption seems silly to me. Its a centaur, not a playable race. Theres no revenant style symbol/colouring either. A transform into something like a centaur seems pretty odd. Its no less odd than a druid transforming into a centaur.
Im not saying its impossible. Just seems pretty much equally unlikely as druid (putting dev comments aside).

Ventari is one of the Revenant legends, like the current Jalis and Mallyx. Why would showing Ventari for showing off the Revenant Ventari legend be silly in any way?

Easy answer: It could just be showing the legend that Revenants are getting. If Ventari is the new Revenant Legend, and Ventari is a Centaur, then showing that legend would be showing a centaur.

They still haven’t shown off all the revenant weapons. They could easily show off a weapon, the trait line specialization that goes with the new legend and the utility skills that go with it. That is the exact same amount of info that Elite Specializations have been getting. Why couldn’t they do that for Revenant? Why wouldn’t they seeing as it’s a new class and they want to hype it up to help sell the expansion.

Except a Rev line would have the same amount of information to it as an elite specialization reveal. Skills 6 through 0, any associated special mechanics, probably another weapon for the class, and the traits themselves.

Yeah not sure where the disconnect is. We already know what the Revenant looks like, it would be boring of the art team to just post yet another image of a Revenant. If they are deciding to focus only on revealing 1 other Legend the Revenant will channel this week, namely Ventari, it makes complete sense to show a teaser image of Ventari. It in no way means that the Revenant will shapeshift into Ventari, though I suppose that always is a possibilty.
But I get where you’re coming from as far as the reveals being slow and them dragging this out. But it makes sense, the Revenant is an entirely new profession with a mechanic unlike any other in the game so far, so I get the feeling Anet is just proud and showing off it’s new toy and trying to build up as much hype as possible for it.

I don’t know as if they want to do all of Revenant in one go. It’ll take 45 minutes just to go through the traits on the stream. This way they can explain the content in manageable chunks.

I’m not sure why you consider it dragging it out, though? It’s not like HoT is ready and they are putting off releasing it until they release every tidbit. This is information to hold us over until they are finished, that’s all.
I agree that just one legend reveal wouldn’t be enough to fill an hour, but there is so much about Rev we don’t know yet officially, like weapons and weapon skills. Underwater mechanics. 2 trait lines. They could add any one of those things to pad out the rest of the time.
Well of course they are going to drag it out. It buys them time to work out kinks. Personally, I say let them take as much time as they need to get kitten right. The reveals are at least mildly entertaining in the interim.
While I’m not personally overly interested in the Rev, I can live with their release cadence. Not all the information will pertain to me anyway, but it pertains to someone. Just like when they did the WvW announcement, it did nothing for me as I’m not a WvW player. Doesn’t mean those players don’t deserve some love and some info though (which you’d like was what a lot of people thought based on the amount of kittening around here).

Whether it is the druid or a legend, I’m all excited. If it ends up being lore related, I would be a bit disappointed: while I like to see new things explained before, I prefer to see the story and universe by myself. Wait and see, we’re only 48h away from the answer
Id rather have no info for a few weeks and all the rev stuff in one go than have it spread over several weeks. Maybe thats just me.
No I agree with you there. Right now we just have fragmented glimpses of this new Profession of theirs. It’d be nice to see the whole picture. Would also be nice for them to open a Revenant sub-forum in the Professions Forums after doing such a reveal, and let all those future Revenants go crazy and theory craft for a while with their new found information.

i’m 90% sure it has nothing to do with druid and everything to do with the future struggles of the sylvari.
Pretty sure you’ve hit it on the head. The devs have been strongly hinting at Sylvari-exclusive content since announcing HoT, and the image shows Ventari standing firm amidst the vines of Mordremoth. I think we’re going to hear about things happening on a psychological front with the Sylvari.
It’s probably Ventari just because he lived in the Magumma Jungle and that’s basically what HoT is about.

As has been covered already in this thread, unfortunately this will likely just be some more information about Revenant, or even worse, some lore snore. A crying shame, really. After three professions had their specialisations revealed in quick succession, followed by last week’s information drought, it would feel like a bit of a cop out. It’s high time we heard something more about some of the other classes – particularly Warrior and Thief, for which nothing is currently known. Engineer would be great too. Any of the remaining classes would feel more like progress. Perhaps I mainly feel this way as I couldn’t care less about any of the classes that have been revealed thus far, though regardless the flow of information of substance has to this point been disappointing.

It’s not even an elite specialization. Not the same as any other reveal. It’s just a single normal specialization with a support weapon that matches the traits, like Greatsword and Strength for warrior. We don’t even get the name for this specialization.
Very let down by this. It’s just pointless filler. Multiple specializations, weapons, the elite specialization, Druid or “Difficult PvE content” would be better. This is barely a step above a Maguuma Centaur lore drop.
Conversely there is nothing stating definitively that he’s not either. Your logic goes both ways.

I shouldn’t, but I can’t resist. I just want to point out this is completely wrong. The burden of proof lies on the one making a claim. I don’t need any evidence that says Ventari isn’t a rev spec. It’s actually impossible to prove a negative or unfalsifiable claim like that. Therefore the default and base stance is to assume that it is not, and it is the responsibility of the first party to create an argument that shows evidence and demonstrates that their claim is correct. Finding Ventari strings and models in the game files for a Maguuma zone is not evidence that he is a specialization. It’s evidence that he will appear in some form in the expansion, and people speculate that will take the form of a Revenant legend. It could just as easily be a Mist cameo, or a flashback, or even related to the Druid. It could not appear at all.
