Say I get 1 point in gliding, but swap to gain xp for mushroom jumping, do I still get to glide around or do I need to switch back to gliding for that to happen?

Basically: if I unlocked a mastery ability, do I need to stay on that Mastery line to keep its benefits or is it unlocked on all my characters forever?

Once it is unlocked, you have that ability applied passively (always active) on all of your account characters. You don’t have to change back once you have it unlocked.
