whats the point having players with 5 portal drops in one day and others that have been grinding for days without a single one? at least let them gift the extra ones to guild mates and friends…

Most of those “five portals in one day” people are just flat out lying. The drop rate is too low to get that consistently. I saw some dumb crap in map chat this morning about people linking single portals and telling you then had 5-25 (the 25 was obviously a lie, the 5 is slightly more believable, but really really really unlikely)

People will end up selling portals for something like 100g a piece. Which isnt a bad thing; would make farming more than one portal worthwhile

ArenaNet does not want people to earn potentially 100 of dollars for being lucky

I can see the TP now brimming with massively over priced portals to the beta all over the place rivaling the prices of the most expensive precursors out there to date. Yea that’s not the solution.

What about few stacked portals? They either got em or changed code – waht is against rules and they should be banned for that right?

Well, that wouldn’t really change anything in the overall situation.

ANet have so and so many “spots” for their next beta, let’s say 1000.

That doesn’t mean that 1000 portal stones will drop.

It means that portal stones keep dropping, until 1000 accounts are flagged. At that point more than 1000 virtual portal stones will sit in people’s accounts, but it doesn’t matter.

If they were tradable, “everybody has a chance to get one, but people who play a lot have a higher chance to get one” wold turn into “the richest players are guaranteed a spot”.

If that’s what ANet wanted, then they might just as well have put the portal stone in the gem store.
