I found myself at the point where I’m literally logging in doing dailys and logging out spending more time just browsing waiting for HoT info or any little update at all. Now I’m so over dailys I find myself just logging in for log in rewards. What I would like is to hear how many others are reduced to this presuming its not just me. And I don’t need the blah blah do this and that etc, I’ve done plenty and and interested in what I am not what others tell me to be.

I’m currently doing the same thing. As much as I know there are other gamemodes such as pvp or wvw, I just don’t really give a kitten about them. Especially now that most of my guild is on vacation im just logging in doing the daily in like 5 minutes and logging back out. The LA patch was the only patch with content this year and that kept me a little busy. It wasn’t much but it’s nice to do something new. I hope that with next expansion they pay more attention to the ‘’content drought’’ they create, I love this game but it’s just frustrating to log in every day for like a minute and then leave because you don’t feel like doing the content because you’ve allready done it a lot of times…

I’ve been playing since the first day of headstart but ‘only’ reached about 2,500 hours. So between that and the fact that I’ve got 5 permanent characters and I’m planning a 6th I’ve still got tons of stuff to do.

I can’t see myself ever getting to the point where I’m logging in just to do dailies. I rarely do them as it is, unless I’m levelling up a character, they can be done in areas I want to play and I don’t have any better ideas. I’d just stop playing as much as play something else instead.

Im not actively doing as much, but thats a natural consequence of a reduced content calendar. I potter away with alts and their story/world completion though.

I’m not too fussed about the content drought, but I was looking forward to maybe 1 festival over the summer

I’ve been pretty much logging in for my dailies and then logging out. When I’ve reached the daily AP cap then I’ll likely be logging in for the daily rewards. I miss Season 1 when there was new content every two weeks but this is expected when a game has an expansion on the horizon.

I mostly log in for the rewards. For the most part this is so that I dont feel as if I have fallen too far behind if I decide tp play more in the future. Occasionally I will play for a bit longer but a lack of BiS gear prevents me from connecting with my characters to the degree that would keep me playing.

I’m a guild leader so I get on to run dungeons and do pvp with the guild. If I weren’t a guild leader, I would have quit the game a while ago tbh.

Something that helps me not get too bored is making new goals. But I’ve gotten to the point where I’ve accomplished almost everything I’ve wanted to. World map completion, crafted legendary, rank 80 pvp, champ title for my main, level 80 on all professions, dungeon master, level 50 fractals, etc. My current goal is to max all the crafting professions which will be done soon (got to get two professions from 400 to 500 and I have the gold to do it right now). I guess I can get the TT achievements or the LS2 achievements, but I’m scraping the bottom of the barrel for things to do.

Bought ESO when it was on sale a few days ago and really enjoying it since it’s something new.

Im doing/finishing stuff that I know I shouldnt do in HoT, I want to effectivize the time we have now so that time can be better spent/focused when HoT is out.

For me that is to get the glorious armor set, get as much obsidian shards/karma/laurels as possible, save up gold for new legendary longbow, ascended gearing, make sure the 4 chars I enjoy playing have 100% world and story completion. This is all happening at an average phase so that I dont get too fussed and bored. When I think of it its kinda surprising im enjoying this time since GW2 doesnt have any special content updates till HoT.

If you tried everything and nothing holds you atm, its totally fine just log in take rewards and log out. Its a good time to fresh out, try some other games and come back once you miss gw2, I’ve been into this situation several times.

For me at the moment, I do a daily fractal 50 (the game type that I love at most), and spend some time on Spvp, since it can be a lot of fun and grants me some sweet achievments.

I’ve been around since the betas, and when I do have time to log in, I still have plenty to do. I’m lvling a sylvari ranger (my third ranger), an asura guardian, and I just rolled a charr ele. What can I say? I enjoy building them.

Unfortunately, life just keeps getting in the way and I only have a couple of hours to play on the weekends anymore.

Edit: I should probably add that I have a slot set aside for the first of the 3 revenants I have planned. I’m also attempting to get better at pvp, when my ping allows for it. And I still have yet to get the dungeon master title, which is on my “to do” list. Just the tip of the ice berg…

Don’t look at me like that. Whatever you’ve heard, it’s probably not true.

I’ve had a few breaks from gw2 but never completely stopped playing, there’s so much stuffy stuff i want to get for my toons.
If i’m playing something else : log in → dailies → maybe CoF p1 → crafting → log out.
If i’m farming : log in → dailies → world bosses → 4-5 dungeon runs → crafting → log with my 2nd acc → tea kettle → dungeons → crafting → SW → faints
So far over 7k hours played, 10 toons, finished my 6th legendary yesterday, and there’s still A LOT of things i want to get.
Also who knows how many more “shinies” HoT will bring, need to prepare for those as well lol.

I understand completely how a person might feel about the anticipation of upcoming content trivializing present content, I cant bring myself to play Diablo 3 at present because of this very thing. – This could be because of the ‘ladder season’ feature though. Gw2 however hasn’t lost any momentum for me, there is simply too much to do, and I enjoy the world enough to find fun in it.

HoT isn’t going to change your mind about the game if you aren’t already interested in it now. You might find a few hours enjoyment, but you will be ready to move on sooner then later, so best to just stop anticipating now and save yourself the perceived let-down.

Getting more skins, more achievements (like yesterday farmed crab toss achievements for a bit), farming gold (always usefull, I buy gems to keep a huge backup pile, so if a good sale comes I can buy it all, i’m at 10 000 backup gems now – most are meant to use on char slots when on sale). Getting more unique weapon skins (Daydreamer is cute, Scientific is good for engineer I think, so getting more gold for that). Preparing for new legendaries. Like if Ele would have gotten sword with Tempest I would have made bolt, but now that remains to be seen. I could make another legendary though.

I keep high variation in my playstyles to slow boredom down. I also met a lot of nice people lately, wich makes it more fun. For instance, I didn’t do Honour of the waves dungeon in a while cause most pugs fail at this bigtime. Then I met a guild, who did a lot of dungeons runs, but was that day 1 person short (4/5). I joined them for 12 dungeons runs, including HoTW. Had a lot of fun, added them to friendlist. They called me yesterday again to join HoTW. Ofc i joined. Was fun! Almost like playing new content, with the time that has passed since I played that dungeon.

New specs. The new trait options make gameplay a lot different on all professions. So far only 3 professions, I played since the Core Specialization updates. That’s 5 more to playtest/have fun with.

Sidegoals: Getting more alts, wanting some fun/Rpg elements bonus I wanted to get Permanent Hair style contract. Got it about a month now. Took a lot of dedication to farm it, but now being able to change hair style on the fly is a lot of fun. And to be honest, there’s a lot of new (exlusive to hair style and make over kits) hairstyles now. Being able to experiment with them is nice (Making a new char doesn’t show them so, so making char, not being happy, delete, make it again, doesnt work for new hairstyles). These kit makes that possible, and its account bound so works on all char. Quite happy with it. Good example of what an endgoal could be (and one that improve gameplay if you like this sort of stuff – changing hair).

Anticipation goals also keep me busy. HoT will for sure have stuff that costs a lot of money (legendaries? other skins?), but that we want. Why not farm it now, and then just enjoy content? Few thins certainly will come: 3th birthday sale (farm goal in anticipation of sale – this is even double win, cause you get enough gold before sale, and you get cheaper gems (they will go up in price when sale happens). Halloween is the first even coming that’s almost garanteed, it’s not to far away tbh, so while they will still make HoT they are force to finally release a temporary event then. Clear your stock of halloween items, practise some jumping puzzles to do the Clocktower achievement Stuff like that.

Upgrading home instance: personal goal. Got all but 1 node (and the treasure chest) now. When other goals that require gold are done, I will go for treasure hunter title (Already completed Exotic hunter). These things keep you quite busy

But most important is, put variation in gameplay (change profession every now and then, change gamemode, change map etc, switch between your open goals). I’m 9500 hours now, still having fun.

Legendary weapons can be hidden now!
No excuse anymore for not giving ‘hide mounts’-option
No thanks to unidentified weapons.

Other then that the only area where spending time could bear a meaning for me would be the sPvP… But I don’t like PvP (in general).

I play for a couple of hours each day at least. My advice would be to not get into a daily routine- some days do dungeons, other days do world bosses. That way you won’t get bored as quickly. With 3k hours played in just over 2 years, I admit I am playing a bit less than I used to, however I still play a lot and earn gold/mats while I am doing it and sometimes I really enjoy it. Currently I am farming for my ‘Grand Artisan’ title. Giving yourself a goal ingame also allows you to enjoy the game more- there will be a reward for you at the end.

I log in for the login rewards and do the dailies some days but they haven’t added any new content in over six months (as in stuff you can do) so there’s little incentive to do anything. I parked a few characters by some cypress groves for foxfire clusters (assembling mawdrey now) but pressing F at some trees is about as exciting as it gets these days.

I miss the living story one release cadence; I didn’t like how they removed the content so quickly but I did like the content, zergy though it was. LS2 was good but too sparse and with far too long breaks. I hope that HoT can actually deliver content at launch and afterwards at frequent intervals without long breaks.

Log in other people to get a couple skins from somewhere.

About an hour before reset go have dinner, when I come back log on my ele to get ready for teq (help defenses set up, go on champ trains if any). Then fight teq.

Do dailies. Ho hum.

Log out. Log in my alt account to get the login reward. Log out. Login and out of my main account so it is ready to go again the next day.

Even though I still play a bit I have fallen into a rut. The now-boring dailies (and Teq) both hitting at 8 pm in my time zone does not help either as I want the nag to do them gone ASAP (so feel I have to do them right after the Teq fight).

I’ve played this game since the headstart, and I’ve never been bored with it yet! If I was, I would just log off and do something else lol. But I don’t play on a daily basis or anything. I love making and leveling characters in this game, and I mean lovelovelove. :p Since I love the setting, lore, art/character/armour/world design I have tons of fun wandering through zones and completing them, since they nailed the atmosphere and for me that’s a big part in if I enjoy a game.

I never focus on the rewards (unless it’s fashion!), so I do dailies only when I don’t forget them, which is maybe half of the time. I’m not in the least bit interested in one of the legendaries, though the shield may tempt me – but I never use the Mystic Forge so I’ll probably never see a precursor drop. :p Despite having played since the start, I have like 10 gold to my name haha. But! What I use my gold for, is not fresh materials to flush through the mystic toilet, but character slots! My Guardian is my undisputable main, but I have um…well 26 chars in total haha, I think 9 or so at max level (and a lot around 20-30). I just love designing awesome looking characters that fit the GW setting and lore. I’m one of those sad people that uses some transmute stones around level 20-30ish to make the perfect look and then level as far as I can, trying not to change their armour until as close to max as I can, then remake the same ‘primary’ set at max level with exotics, now also with matching weapons. All my characters have different builds and weapon sets suited to their theme. So if I wanted to play a warrior this evening, I could choose between the ‘stereotypical’ male Norn scarred veteran wielding axe/shield or 2h hammer, female Norn bear shaman wielding dual axes and 2h hammer, male Elonian wanderer looking like a mysterious desert prince wielding dual swords or longbow, female Canthan noblewoman wielding sword/shield or 2h sword, or male Charr Blood Legionnaire wielding 2h sword or rifle. First 2 are 80, the others between 21-40. So yeah, this keeps me from getting bored ever haha. I also don’t speedrun, don’t use optimal builds (though I definitely know how to make/play them if I somehow reallyreally wanted that) and focus on the atmosphere and enjoyment instead of the loot or goals (there is no loot :p).

In a twist of irony, by focusing so kitten rewards over the last couple of years, they got exactly what they wanted….. everyone following a schedule. And as the inevitable conclusion that such a system spirals towards, the players have become over satiated, and the rewards no longer fill the void that it tried to fill from the lack of engaging content.

So much of the game’s basic mechanics are woefully under utilized, or left in need of refinement; yet they’ve focused almost exclusively on gimmicks (that don’t even reuse mind you), that we’ve come to burn through them faster as the content drought becomes more severe.

Enjoyed it until we got tired of paying the monthly fee. Came back on, pretty much log on, do the daily, Teq, maybe a couple of other world bosses, then log off. I don’t craft (can’t stand the concept of working in a game), and my guild of 5 doesn’t usually run dungeons and we won’t touch fractals. WvW happens if my husband can drag me out with him, and no way in Hades will I step foot in sPvP (got my fill of that elitist crap in Warhammer). So far, this is the go to time kill.
