I was wondering if the number of ‘elite specializations’ per class will stay at one, or if more are going to be released in the future?

They’ve stated that this is how they want to expand the options available to classes. So yes, we will see more ‘elite’ specs in the future. No details have been given specifically saying they will only come with expacs though, so we could potentially see new ones with living world (not holding my breath though).

More will be released in the future.

They are planning to add more Elite Specializations in future updates/expansions. On the release of Heart of Thorns, each profession will be getting one new Elite Specialization.

I think what will slow it down is that they most likely would have to release an equal amount of elites for all professions. So they can’t just give us the next Guardian one when it’s ready, they have to deploy multiples of nine at once. With the amount of work that goes into each elite spec, that turns any elite release into a massive game update.

Given the time it’s taken them to work on the current set plus revenant, getting new ones even every six months seems optimistic. I hope they surprise me, but I think it will be more of an annual thing at best.

Devs have said that they have allready plan 3 elite / prof for HoT.
So it should be more… but in 2013 they also said new full set of legendary weapon for the end of the year…

I never said they plan to release all elite spe at the release. I just said that they allready have plan 3 elite / prof wich its true, never said it is yet ready… They will be only one at release indeed. But learn to read…

Please link to an official source stating that there will be 3 elite specializations for each profession for HoT. My understanding is the next elite spec will not come out until the next expansion is released.

It was said in live, wich one I honestly don’t remember.
They said that they plan 3 for HoT. But plan doesn’t mean that they will stick to it. As I said before, back in 2013 they said we’ll get a full new set of legendary before the end of the year and yet we’ll get only 3 new legendary at HoT release and it may not be in 2015… So between what they plan and what they do there is a big difference^^.
My guess is 1 elite for each gameplay melee dps/condi; range support and something tanky.
