She, not he.
And it’s less of a question and more of a demand for playable Tengu. Heartbreak if we have to wait another three years for them.
are proffessions gonna get more than 1 specialisation choosable? if not it would just be like, not really a specilaisation , but just adding more skills to one proffession n stuff

I feel a bit daft now, cheers though, edited the thread a bit!

Gathering questions may not be a bad idea, but I can tell you that until we release the “deep dives” into each feature, there won’t be a lot that we can answer in response to specific questions. Still and all, a thread that tries to gather things together is perfectly fine with me!
P.S. No worries on the sex/gender thing, JoshuaRAWR, it’s a common misconception and a lot of people refer to me as “he” until I set them straight. If I bother to do. I mean, end of the day it really doesn’t matter too much either way in an Internetz sense.

Is there only one specialization available for each profession or are there more? (No I dont want exact numbers or anything like that)
Gaile: I heard you already have access to the new profession:

I was looking at all the questions and wondering what I could merge, but I feel that each should stand alone for now because I don’t want to cause too much confusion with merges of potentially unrelated comments or questions.
We may be able to come up with a better format for questions, but as I mentioned, the “deep dives” into the features will start up in a few weeks and those will give a lot of desired info!

Q: Will one eventually be able to attain all masteries, or will there be a need to choose which ones to pursue and which to lock out?
As they are account wide, I’d hope they are all available.
Maybe the frog can give us some answers? Please, Gaile.
Are there some secret features left to be revealed?
Two questions/two concerns about the new expansion:-
1) The new region, apparently ‘vertical’ was used to describe it and its got 3 tiers a canopy level, a ground and a tree level. Now hand gliding around the canopy level sounds great and awesome to me. However, I am concerned the new region will largely be a massive jumping puzzle or series of jumping puzzles. Is this the case/true. I HATE were getting from a to b to c is much harder to do than the dynamic events themselves.
2) The new WvW map, it mentions ‘blowing other players off high places to fall to there certain deaths’, I hope this is not the case, certain players will troll other players 24/7 if they can do that. Spoiling all the other activities on the map.
I am assuming some things like the hang gliding, once learned, will be particular only to the expansion region. It would be nice to know what things would be specific only to that region and what could also be done throughout the rest of the world.
I think it would be neat to be able to use some of the mastered skills outside of the new area in the rest of Tyria (*cough*hang gliding*cough*) and it would also be a good marketing tool for folk to see what they would gain by getting the expansion.
I am definitely looking forward to the ‘deep dives’ into the features!

exactly how classes will expand
This may stray into the realm of spoilers, but those of us with RP’d sylvaris would love to know something of the expected effect. Do we have a Dream shield? What does Mordremoth’s attempt to suborn us feel like? (Obviously nothing stops someone from RPing falling to the dragon if they want to, but those who don’t want to should have some explanation ready).
Just a couple of general guidelines would help keep the RP canon. It seems we’ll have a few months of story freeze right now but the RP plots will be chugging right along!
- How will the WvW changes impact those without the expansion? (new borderlands in rotation sounds like it will have be available to all, unless you’ll prevent certain people of playing wvw in some weeks)
- I’m guess the new pvp mode will have new maps. Will the new pvp map(s) be available in (un)ranked arena? If so what happens with people who don’t have the expansion?
- When will we get to know more about ‘Profession Specialization’? Because access to new skill/traits/weapons is on itself not a specialization. I’m guessing it’s something like if you choose ‘specialization A’ you get a greatsword, otherwise a longbow?
- Will the specializations also be balanced against players who don’t have the expansion (so that if wvw a zerg of specializations meets a zerg of expansionless players, both have an equal chance?)
- ‘Guild halls’ – ‘As you build out your guild hall, your guild members can go on great adventures’. How does this impact those without the expansion? I assume they can’t join these adventures?
- Can we buy the Expansion from within the game (doesn’t necessarily have to be with gems though)
- How big are the new maps (and story) compared to the base game?
- Will our character finally be important again (a.k.a. know how to make decisions and know how to talk)?
Edit: please tell me you removed all pve junk from wvw and it does have edges to knock/fear people off every 2 inches (a.k.a. tell me it is NOTHING like EOTM as that is only used as a champ/karma. train and is nothing like wvw should be)

The main thing I want to know is how many specializations there are per class.
If it’s just one, why would a player not want to specialize?
Can a Druid only use a staff for example so a Ranger can’t use a staff but can use 2x of any of the other weapons whereas a Druid can’t use any of the weapons but a single staff?
Will we be getting new game content before the expansion?
Is there more than one specialization for each profession?
Q: How will you handle PvP for people who decide not to buy HoT? Will it not completely break the balance when you throw in a new class and unlocks for other classes and do not allow players only having access to base-game together? Will this divide the playerbase?
OK So with the expax I’m assuming we will get some form of story campain right followed by LS updates?
What happens if someone doesn’t buy the expansion? I would assume that the new zone is not available, of course. But what about WvW? If I don’t have the expansion, what happens if I enter WvW? Will I see the new zone and any other changes to WvW in general?
Will we be getting new game content before the expansion?
This. Assuming a Summer release at the earliest, will there be no content for at least/up to six months?
And if there is new content, how will it work? Festivals? How would that work with the end of S2 :O
“Omg, everyone crashed. … Hey, alright. Lets go bash some piñatas.”
1) So lorewise (and rolewise) we will find out what the sylvari did only with the expansion pack? Not before? Now our characters (and the characters sylvari first) don’t know what happened with the pact, correct?
2) When HoT will be out how the story would be narrated there? Like the LS or like the PS? Starting from what point?
3) On Dulfy it is said that it will be playable in 6 weeks at PAX East… So we can expect it to drop on August like the main game? Before or after? :p There will be available a pre-purchase like the one we had for the main game? :p i had to try and ask these questions XD

Guild Wars 2 had a playable demo in GamesCom 2010. It was released two years later, in 2012.
So, the fact we will have a playable demo in 6 weeks means your release window is anything from 6 weeks plus one day to two years
1) Presuming their are multiple specializations, can we unlock them all on one character and respec into them or is it final?
2) Will my Mesmer ever be able to run fast without focus?
3) Your are saving playable Skritt for my birthday right?
One thing which has stood out to me for a while now is the animation engine. Movements in cutscenes often seem linear and roughly scripted. (Although perhaps a poll would be a better way to evaluate this since I work in Graphics)
I am curious if any changes in that regard have been made in this expansion. (and if they are game wide, or restricted to the new content)
It seems like justifying an improved character rigging and animation system would be hard, seeing how it doesn’t add to the “content” of the game, but I’ll hold a small glimmer of hope until I hear otherwise :P
My first question is: Will rangers get to have new pets? And will this be like GW1 with Nightfall and Factions where we could bounce back and forth? And will there be extra character slots or will we have to buy them?
If half the people (and the guild leader) own HOTS and others don’t, can we still allow them to see our guild hall?
A few small things I’d adore seeing that don’t quite make it into big announcements, so asking just in case!
Fishing – can we has it?
Rare pets worth seeking out for rangers specialized into that.. possible? Plausible?
I noticed the revenent had tattoos in the artwork on the new site – will there be new ink-like armours possibly? I LOVED Monk and Rit armours in GW1.. been praying for those or something like them for some time now!
Lord Ahrwit Valdyr/Isambard FitzValdyr/many more…
well to answer the corruption on sylvari im betting my theory is you already fought its corruption in the starting sylvari mission. you fight aginst the shadow. thus your fighting for your freedom and soul in that battle[ orignaly though to be death dragon] but could it be more your sort of the spirit that goes to the vial to defend it the dream and thus you faced the corruption and didn’t give in to it and beat it.
A few things:
“Glint was the last good dragon alive” , did Collin think of Kuunavang or the other dragons from the past frenchise?
Are we getting multiple maps with this expansion or just one big map?
Will the new upgrades/seccond class/new weapons work outside Maguuma Jungle like in WvW or sPvP?
Q: Specialisations will give each profession a new weapon. Many players are using BLTC skins and enjoy having a consistent set of weapons (appearance wise) yet may not have in store the skins corresponding to the new weapons available in future.
Therefore, will you reintroduce before or during the HoT release all the BLTC skins at once (if possible at their original ticket price) to allow players to buy the skins they will be missing and avoid having to carry a weapon that do not match their other weapon skins ?
To answer some of the questions above, there will be one specialisation per profession at the time being (as of today accouncement). I suspect more will come in the future (akin to some JRPG).
You may however not want to follow your profession specialisation as Colin said it will change some parts of your profession core gameplay. As such, I think we can see specialisations as the classical choice between staying a pure class (more powerful with the core class traits) or dual-classing (less powerful with the core class traits but able to complete it with a different array of skills).
I therefore expect that specialisations will sport a different gameplay, but won’t be enforced (it would certainly create some hate if players were forced into playing differently their profession, especially if they do not enjoy that new way) and will be balanced with base classes.
Q: Will Bull’s Strike make a return?
-Release Date
-Will we be able to buy the expansion with gems
-Do we get to experience the Druid before converting our Ranger to one or will we have to go to YouTube and see what they are like via others playing it before choosing whether or not to convert our Rangers?
-Will we see new WvW/EOTM rewards with our badges of honor? (cause right now I’m not seeing anything worth spending mine on and the rewards department is severely lacking here)
-Will we be able to group all our crafting skills (chef/jeweller etc. etc.) into an account-wide thing so that we can delete our characters with, say, 500 armorsmith, without losing 500 armorsmith? Cause right now I have a norn that I don’t play, but she has 500 armorsmith, and it cost me an arm and a leg to obtain, but I don’t want to delete her and have all that time and money go to waste, so in the meantime she’s just a storage mule clogging up precious character slot space simply because I can’t transfer her 500 armorsmith craft to another character >_<
-What’s happening with underwater weapon skins? The last few black lion weapon sets have excluded them entirely. Are they being scrapped? What’s happening with all the trident/harpoon gun/spear skins, if anything? What’s going on?
Questions:
-Will we get additional character slots when we purchase HoT?
-Can we have a current level 80 character switch professions to a Revenant? (This would be awesome!)
- Will there be new pets for Rangers?
- When will the first beta be?
(Can I be in the beta by just calling dibs? Just in case, dibs! If not, when can I give you my money?)
-Can we have a current level 80 character switch professions to a Revenant? (This would be awesome!)
I’d hazard not, as the lead in to announcing the Revenant was something along the lines of “But what if I’m new to the game and I still want to play something new that no one else has?” I got the sense that all the Revenants would start fresh.
My Questions:
1) As we are all aware the most recent world boss to be added has been the Three Wurms in Bloodtide Coast, this boss is by far the most interesting world boss we have to fight. For HoT can we expect additional world boss or are we only getting ‘raid’ type bosses? Also can we expect an update to existing World Bosses?
2) It seems like a lot of people are asking this next question in a variety of different ways, so I’ll be as general as possible. What content mentioned in the press release/anouncement of Guildwars2: Heart of Throns is exclusive to players who own HoT?
(edited by Goomba.6248)
Q: Will WvW achievements be fixed with the expansion, so they are finnally realistic goals which do not take a whole lifetime to complete?
- When will the first beta be?
On the Website heartofthorns.guildwars2.com there is an FAQ and they answered this question. Pretty much they don’t know yet.
More of a request than a question: Could we get one of those pretty watercolor-looking desktop backgrounds for Heart of Thorns like there have been for other releases? I’m ready to jump on the hype train.

To be honest we can rely on the expected earnings report of NCSOFT. They have projected their earnings from their guildwars 2 franchise to triple in the 3rd Quater (June-September) of this year, now this could mean 1 of 2 things. 1) This is when the pre-order will be available (most likely) or 2) This is the expected release window for HoT(hopefully).
Will there be a living world update next Tuesday?
Will we continue to have an update each 2 weeks until HoT is out?
Thank you

Those are nice, thank you, but I meant one of the concept art ones with a logo.
Is the Beta only for players at Pax East, or will it be available for all players with a current version of GW2 – so we can experience HoT from our home?
I wish I had the money and time to fly anywhere across the world to go to some Beta event, but if it’s what I think it is (only being available for those at Pax East), it’s just unrealistic for the average joe blog to get to see what Heart of Thorns will be like to play, and that’s unfortunate :-/
Q: Until HoT comes out, you have a lot of time to fill. Is there a tentative schedule of what you’re going to do and when? I’m assuming that some variation of Dragon Bash will be in there somewhere, perhaps retooled for Chinese New Year?
delicate, brick-like subtlety.
Q: Will the PvE not be terrible?
(Yes, got done watching that video.)
More seriously . . .
Q: Will the expansion have significantly different/higher minimum system requirements? If so, where would a baseline be for “adequately running 15-20 fps during major events”?
Also
Q: How tightly will the expansion content be sealed off from players who have not purchased it? What will be permitted to be used by “non-expansion” players and what will they need to buy the expansion for? To wit, will I need to buy it if I just want to have the new pretty weapon/armor skins which drop and are able to be traded? What about the new Borderlands, will only Expansion players be allowed to fight in there and thus impact the rest of WvW?
