I have a long list of QoL’s but honestly, these are my top 3 ! See I’m not greedy.

This one is a deal breaker

  • PVE Build templates: This has been a community request since 2012, it should be a top priority if you really hope to sell X-pack 2 to anyone.

These below would be nice but not a deal breaker if number one above is implemented, had to add this cause some people seem to have no common sense at all.

  • Food/utility: Duration should stack up to say 6 hours. (w/o Gemstore items)
  • Rich node reset: Please for the love of Dwayna make them reset at daily reset.
LOVE: Raids & Fractals.
HATE: Jumping puzzles.
DESPISE: TIME GATES, RNG & THE TRINITY !

I can understand the build templates being a top priority, but not buying because nodes don’t reset on a specific schedule? That seems a very strange reason not to buy an entire expansion.

Shrugs. Oh well to each his own.

None of these would stop me from buying the next expansion if it didn’t include them, so please don’t pretend that you actually speak for everyone.

They’re not saying that they’re speaking for everyone. If you read their post you’ll see they clearly state its their own top 3 requirements for the next XP. Not everyone’s.

Expansions are primarily PvE content as the majority tend to be PvE players. Why would PvP feature prevent the expansion from being sold to PvE players? Would PvP players really not buy the expansion just because there are no build templates regardless as to whether there are other appealing PvP content that’s a part of the expansion?

I understand that these things are what you really desire but I wouldn’t go so far as to speak for the majority or to assume that these are “musts” or “common sense”.

Edit: Misread PvE as PvP for some reason. Still though, would people really hold off on buying an expansion because it lacked this even if the expansion contained content they found appealing?

Except OP’s talking about PvE build templates, not PvP. And I agree with him on that. Not that I wouldn’t buy the expansion if it doesn’t implement build templates, because I most certainly will get a next expansion. But build templates are sorely lacking in this game and it would satisfy a considerable part of the community, especially Fractal and Raid players.

Ah. Not sure why I read it as PvP.

While it would be a nice QoL improvement, how many players actually change between builds often enough to make use of it? Most of the time it also means that the player would need to change their gear which likely would not be covered by this. It could be a great feature but I don’t really see it as one that would stop players from buying an expansion.

Its been a while so I no longer have a source, but at one point a dev said that part of the hold up on build templates is that they would want to include gear in such a system.

I remember the same thing (which doesn’t mean it’s true — might mean we both read what we wanted to).

Still, I think that’s a silly pursuit of the perfect getting in the way of giving us something useful now. Even just being able to save a list of what’s in the build would be helpful, so we don’t have to store stuff separately or go to 3rd party sites. Heck, even a per-character set of notes would be valuable at this point.

I won’t buy it at all until after players get a look and comment. And even then:

  • It can’t as hard to play as HoT was.
  • Gating cannot exist beyond a small amount. LS S3 has gating about where it needs to be. HoT was and still is gross as regards gating.
  • The maps need to be not as disgustingly hard to navigate. Some kind of clear method of showing up and down needs to exist. Similar to how nodes are now, except for passages (once they’ve been discovered, of course).

Those are deal-breakers for me. It needs to be much more casual-friendly (than HoT was) for me. If it’s clear they listened only to the tiny minority of players who want things harder, I won’t buy it.

What was gated in HoT which was unreasonable? There was poison mastery but they changed that within the first week or something. Everything else only requires the first level of the mastery line except for updrafts.

I’m hoping that it’s on the same level of difficulty as HoT as anything less would be boring and dull.

Maps have the distance indicator with up/down arrows. There are map icons that indicated whether you’re going into caves and such. These were useful for navigating TD.

Yeah, I should have said, " I remember a dev saying…" rather than, “a dev said.”

I also agree about the silly pursuit of perfection comment. Its why I consider the approach to runes in Legendary Armor to be acceptable. Sure they ould have delayed the project even more to develop a more elegant solution, only, near the end, to conceive of a yet more elegant solution, delaying theproject further, and so on. Some times it is best to say, “yep, that’ll work. Lets make it happen.”

Yeah, I’m with you on the legendary rune swaps — it’s not the solution I wanted, but it most definitely beats what we have with legendary weapons.

They’re obviously running out of money and most people top 10 items won’t ever make it into the game. Right now, they need to ID the players actually making gem store purchasing and make sure they keep playing. Legendary armor is probably a good start even though it doesn’t appeal to me at all. They just MIGHT be starting to learn something after 4 years.

For me personally, traits are broken and need to be fixed, and…if you’re never going to add a new race or revamp the 1-80 experience…why are you even bothering with an MMO? I doubt we’ll see any of that in the new x-pac though.

Mounts are despised by a very vehement group, through good arguments, insulting shouts and horse beating gifs; and I’m sure I don’t have to point the classic reaction to proposals of Open World PvP…

Screen clutter and how ridiculous (imo) it would be to see them in the open world. They’re also largely unnecessary as we have WP’s and speed buffs.

Yea but no one cares that you find it offensive because of the 4.5M people who bought GW2, less than a million of them have bought HoT. If Anet just keeps making you happy by continuing to dole out story, they won’t survive. You want your story? Tell Anet to listen to the 3.5M people who quit playing there game between GW2 and HoT.

There’s nothing particularly offensive about saying, “This is the feature that would convince me to give you more money, and without it I’m likely to play other games instead.”

Like…I’m about to go play Overwatch right now instead of GW2, because i find that the character classes in that game are actually balanced, and I’m enjoying the minimal progression system. If GW2 wants me to reinvest in their game instead of just play Overwatch till Crowfall or Ashes of Creation come out, they need to have balanced classes and make the game more casual and solo friendly—or promise as much in an x-pac.

Considering the many, many posts about mounts in the past few years and the overwhelming negative response to such requests, I don’t think it would create that much revenue. GW2 has speed buffs and WP’s. No mounts needed.

The game even pre hot didnt pass more than 500k players online on regular bases. The fact that the expansion sold less than the base game means that ppl that bought the base game lost interest in it and moved on. The loyal fans of the game that play it regularly they bought the game but who ever quit it before did the same now.

How is gliding not a mount. I can move faster while gliding. I can get from one place to another faster. In addition I can also stealth over certain things. And people have complained about certain gliders being too big and blocking views. Gliders aren’t any different than mounts, and they’re in the game for a year and a half.

They sell glider skins in the gem store. Many of us have bought more than one.

I’m sorry I don’t see the difference. I’d love to see mounts in an upcoming expansion.

Of course, my interest in mounts is more from the collecting/immersion aspect.

Gliders require you to be in the air to use, mounts do not. Which means that in areas where there are no tall cliffs or jump pads, gliders are not good for traveling, whereas mounts could still be used for travel.

I have a long list of QoL’s but honestly, these are my top 3 ! See I’m not greedy.
This one is a deal breaker
PVE Build templates: This has been a community request since 2012, it should be a top priority if you really hope to sell X-pack 2 to anyone.

Yes PVE Build templates would be great. I would rather have something else for now though. Most professions have switchable weapons so I would like the traits to follow those weapons. Example have a Greatsword Set your traits up for that. When you change to a Longbow Your traits automatically set for the longbow from the switch over. This way you always have the best traits for what you are using. This is done with the weapon swap key.

Now those with 1 weapon only they would have the ability to set up for example an elementalist uses its elements as a second weapon. So It would have the ability to set its traits up for those so when things switch around they have the best build for that element. This is done with the element keys.

And lets not forget Engineer they use things like gadgets, kits, etc. If you set up a build with kits all the kits when they change in use uses the best traits for those same with turrets and gizmo’s. And this is done with the set up that is being used

All the traits are set up by the players kinda like when you go into the water the skills change. Although I cannot understand why shadow refuge and smoke screen don’t work underwater for thief, but hide in shadows does kinda makes no sense.

Regardless of OPs radical reaction to when it’s not implemented, the first two QoL features I would definitely like.

The third I wouldn’t really care about, I don’t camp at rich nodes. Sounds boring.

i dont understand whats so bad about mounts?

My point here is not about mounts being bad. My point is mounts aren’t widely accepted.

Here is my proud summary about the subject.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Suggestion-Mounts-in-GW2/first#post6352809

PS: I DO think they would be bad for the game IF they have an speed boost. But that’s not the theme here.

why would they be bad for the game if they had a speed boost exactly?

Ground mounts? Makes the movement speed traits redundant, which might reduce or increase build diversity, but fundamentally just comes down to “replace those with something else.”

I’ve personally no particular issue with ground mounts, movement speed boost or not, though faster than +33% travel does somewhat change the nature of some of the maps (eg: silverwastes) now that people can get between things sooner.

Flying mounts usually means “flying full time” as opposed to what we have with gliders, and ends up being “skip directly to the thing to do”, taking you out of the world. Might as well have “push button to get directly to world boss”, “push button to get to next one”.

Interesting interesting post guys since we are talking about the next Xpack I have a suggestion of my own and I do hope its an idea for anet.

My topic is for conversations. the conversations in the first game release what pretty good except the odd backgrounds the first xpack conversations was better but you were only seeing the characters.

So my suggestion change that no special background please when in a conversation next have the camera viewing the person that is talking example when a player is taking the camera views the player when an npc talks the camera switches to the npc. Similar system that been done with shows and movies for years. With this new system I would also recommend to add more facial expressions to make the person actually express their emotion when in conversation as well as body language and arm movement. One last thing is when a person is suppose to hold an item they are holding an item not a person holding something that isn’t their. Now I am sure some people ask if theirs a crowed doing the same conversation that’s simple just phase out the background players exception of the players your in group with.

So that’s my suggestion is to improve the conversation system making the conversation fun to watch.

Also make the story more enjoyable not boring.

Mounts:

Yea I do agree SlippyCheeze ground mounts I feel we do need to make thing more realistic speed boost isn’t really a problem as long the speed isn’t like World of Warcraft using the current speed boost for a mount I would say adding the speed a bit more for the mount as beasts move faster than a person for a horse example they move 15 mph more than a human or faster if they are race horses. So making the boost speed for mounts could be like 40% than 33% or 45% no faster will indeed make it faster to get to were ya need to go the current maps are big enough for the ground mounts so everything should be fine even if anet removes half of the waypoints from each of the maps.

Now my idea for the mounts them selves would be similar to how a character is created. First choose your species / then choose the animals skin, fur, or scale color and pattern / last armor if you want your animal to have armor and its colors / last your saddle and its style and color. If you want more than one mount you can but only certain limit to each character for me I would suggest max to 3 mounts. As for changing the animals style you still can even when Anet adds new stuff to your mount.

This way it won’t be like other games were you have a big collection of mounts fixed on style and color.

Do you really think they can balance a 33%(or more) speed boost ITEM in such a way it doesn’t affect speed related traits, runes, skills and sigils? Do you really think the item speed boost will NOT become mandatory once it make permaswiftness builds, scape skills and swiftness sharing obsolete?

Gliding barely affect speed. While you feel to move faster, that is only true when the slopes are steep enough (Some other players have made the measurement). However Gliding has already made all the “falling” traits obsolete, useless. These were really situational traits. Speed traits aren’t situational. They are a basic part of half the game (The game is not just combat. Is exploration too).

I’m literally praying they don’t mess everything up just to sell mounts. And I’m not a religious man.

I agree Daddicus, in fact I have no faith that anet can produce a game as exciting as the core game. For me, it will depend upon whether there is a good mix of differing game styles or just more of the same of poor mastery and hero point collections and platforming of HoT.

Where as I have the opposite problem. I’m not sure that Anet can produce an expansion as good as HoT which I like considerably more than the core game.

I would hope that Anet is capable of producing an expansion better than HoT. If not, that does not bode well for the future of the game.

I remember that Mike O’Brien made a point to assure the gw2 community that they had learned from the mistakes of HoT. I don’t remember the core game ever needing that kind of caveat.

You really don’t think they can match HoT, a rushed expansion?

HoT may have been rushed, but the maps are still better than most maps on any MMORPG. I think they can make better, but sometimes I doubt they have the will and ability to avoid “koreanizing” the game…

That’s it exactly though HoT was incredibly rushed, and yet still has some of the best maps in the game. You honestly don’t think Anet can do better than that when they take their time with the maps for the second expansion?

Hopefully there is enough for all to enjoy, and maybe an overdose of mastery points, so we only have to do the things we enjoy to complete the tracks.
