Q:
After watching the Points of Interest stream I was a little curious whether or not Revenants can actually choose the skills that occupy the 6 – 0 slots (the healing, three utility and elite).
I know this class features a unique mechanic that changes the last five skills depending on who you’re channeling, but do we gets ‘purchasable’ skills to put into those slots, which then change depending on the legend that’s active, or will they be locked to certain skills that we can’t swap around?
I guess the easiest way to put this is do legends act as weapon bundles (flamethrower, ice bow, so on) that decide what skills we use, or do we get a choice in what appears on our hotbar?

A:
I seem to remember an official response saying they haven’t decided if Legends dictate all your non-weapon skills or just the pool of skills you chose from…
Ah, here it is:
The skills on the right half of your bar are tied to the legend which you are currently invoking.
Lets see if I can phrase this unambiguously:
When I am invoking Bob the Mighty, will I have a Bob-themed pool of skills to choose from when filling out my right-hand tray, or does channeling Bob the Mighty give me an absolutely specific set of 5 skills without variation from any other Revenant invoking Bob?
I realize the answer may be different for buttons 6 and 0 than it is for buttons 7, 8, & 9.
That is not set in stone yet and something we are deciding still.
Although they never explicitly said this, they made it sound like they will be locked, and unchangeable, but there will be loads of different legends to cater for loads of different styles.

To add to this question: also, how does this and the new resource for revenants interact with racial skills?
Noone knows how it will work, but you wil deffinitly can swap some skills from 6-0 becouse even on stream there was little arrow above them which is for changing skills in other classes

yeah, racial skills is what made me think it couldn’t all be locked, otherwise those skills could never be accessed… I’m not liking the idea of a locked skill bar at all.

From all speculations there will be 4 Legends for revenant. There are 3 Traitlines: one for Mallyx, second for dwarf and third is profesion mechanism. So it’s obvious that last 2 Traitlines are made for another 2 Legends (offensive and healing).

Well, since you can spam them as long you have enough energy, it would be reasonable that revenants shouldn’t learn and equip their skills just like the other classes.
Or maybe you are allowed to equip skill from a pool just like the other professions, as long they match the equiped legend (maybe there are more Mallyx/Jalis skills and they just showed some on this POI)
Well probably it is confirmed that we have an choice for choosing at least utilities from a pool.
Because of this:
“Cronacher describes one of Jalis’ utility skills. Revenants using this legend will be able to call down a rune from the sky that damages and weakens enemies as it descends. Once it actually hits the ground, it will push enemies away in order to form a safe space for allies.”
Does anyone recognize the spell that is described in the interview? No, me neither. But it is an “Jalis-Skill” and we know five other “Jalis-Skills” – so there have to be an pool of skills for every legend.

Inspiring Reinforcement: Create a stone road that damages and weakens foes as it’s created. Once it’s created it will pulse, granting stability to allies.
Third utility skills shown while under Jalis’ legend. Too similar to what you described to be a different skill.

Great find, I missed that one on the dev tracker.
You know what this means- everybody better start begging incessantly for what they want. It might actually make a difference.
(For those that didn’t click the link: they stated that it hasn’t yet been decided.)

If they lock it, this will be bad game design, because a major party of the game is skill builds. Well Revenant lacks that so far.. We would be no different from other Revenant’s using same channel.

Trait lines. 1 for each legend can get creative.
It’s not like sigils, runes, stats don’t allow customization. So far classes, balance and modes suffered from the current one.

Currently signs point to no. I hope signs are wrong.

Just taking a look at the PoI and I’m not as impressed yet. Still waiting to see more info on other weapons. A question I do have is, since they name off 3 traits so far, does that leave 2 left for just 2 more legends? So possibly Shiro and another? (Hopefully Master Togo, even if his trait line is healing. I’d just like a pure ritualist inspired trait line & legend).

Sorry but Sigils, ruins, and stats don’t compare to utility skills, elite skills and heals.
All classes have those as well.

Likely 3 more lines to go.
Remember don’t forget the Revenant Specialization..

The revenant has them, just fix ones so far ,the whole legend control partially makes sense. I think they are learning from the past and trying new ways ,just like with stability change,Silverwastes.
I can’t deny it’s not similar to other classes but they failed to satisfy players with some and ruin some for others when making balance. Not meta balance but supportive content that requires it, they lack accuracy and frequency. There is only a handful of useful customization possible and even less situations suited for it. 4-5 utilities for each legend wouldn’t be overdoing it tough the pool just shouldn’t be too much but there is more to come about the class.

Äh, no. A road is not a rune. It do not fall from the sky, it appears before you. And pushing enemies away is definitly not the same than granding your allies stability. If these two skills are the same, than Cronacher is bad at explaining things or the writer of the article had same weird dreams. The only similarity they if is that they weaken your enemy, bur with this argumentation “Call your arms” and " Fierce Blow" fom the warrior would also be the same skill.

If you watch the POI, while out of combat the arrows still appear above the heal, utility and elite skills. So even if it’s not set in stone it does seem like you have some choice at the minute.

Maybe it’s for racial skills?

I think they could possibly shoehorn multiple legends into 1 traitline if they change a few traits to make room. 4 legends seems a bit restricted to me. I would’ve liked a 5th legend for mobility, because the Revenant was rumoured to be as fast as the Thief outside of combat. I also would have liked something really unique to just the Revenant, because currently, all the legends seem to be rip-offs of other professions.
