I want to be able to channel Prince Rurik and then just run in and cast healing signet while saying, “I remember this place from when I was a boy.”

I hope the summons are not just engine tool kits or ele conjured weapon like ;-(

Don’t need another “10thousand different skills” class that would massively benefit from celestial gear.

So if we could summon anyone huh,

Kanaxai – nothing like a dual axed demon smashing your face in.
Duncan the Black – oh look I just summoned 40 spirits and now your dead.

Well, if we can summon the powers of a demon….Why not Shiro Tagachi? That man was sort of the best swordsman of his time.

I don’t know how ArenaNet is going to decide! So many options, it’s like a huge nostalgia bomb for GW1 players or a fascinating chance to look at Tyria from the perspective of the other races and put some of the non-game heroes (like Kala Scorchrazer) into perspective with the ones we are more familiar with (like Jalis).

It sounds like we will see a diverse selection both in terms of mechanics (I think Mallyx represents conditions) and races (so it’s not focused around humans or even good guys).

With that in mind I suspect Ventari will be one with some kind of support ability, I want to see Bonfaz and maybe Gwen (is she on the same level as Glint?).

Rurik would be nice because I liked him, but when I think about it he wasn’t the most useful or epic NPC.

It’ll be interesting to see which non-humans we will see, especially now that they can also be villains. It reminds me of the urn and spear, from Factions, that allowed you to summon Archemorus and Viktor for powerful effects.

I would summon Snaff

I see a number of options here, but I think the ones Rytlock will be able to channel will be different to the players if for any other reason, to differ him as one of the main story people than anything else.

Rytlock -
- Rurik (through his sword)
- Glint (through his previous encounter with her)
- Bonfazz Burntfur (channel the energies and power of the Flame Legion for and to his own ends)

Players -
- King Jalis Ironhammer (confirmed we are getting him, although, I still don’t think he’s dead so it doesn’t make sense (stone dwarf and all that going deep to face Primordus)
- Mallyx (already know of this one)
- Turai Ossa (already met him in Living Story so makes sense for him to stick around somewhere)
- One more from the almost endless possibilities of NPC’s of GW1 (my guess is the last being race specific, Asuran’s get Vekk, Sylvari get Ventari, Charr get Pyre, Norn get Jora, Humans get Gwen)

From the the trailer we’ve been given, it looks like we might get Nika or Vizu. The Factions cinematic with Vizu is one of the coolest they’ve ever done I thought.

Yeah, that stealth/shadow step attack Rytlock does reminds me so much of Vizu from the Factions cinematic.

Rodgort, who else. He was my favourite mystic character never revealed. I mean, all you ever saw of him was two skills. Considering them I always figured him as a fire elementalist or demon or something who left book of overpowered magic all over the world. can you imagine channeling that?

- Shiro Tagachi since we know he was last in the Realm of Torment like Mallyx, so accessible through the Mists (we did kill him there though)

- Master Togo, just cuz GW2 needs an Uncle Iroh character.

- Kuunavang. The dragon other than Glint Rytlock could be channeling in the trailer?

- Turai Ossa. C’mon, they already have his character model

Someone mentioned Palawa Joko, but I believe the lore is that he’s still running things in Elona.

But more seriously, I’d enjoy summoning Shiro Tagachi. He was one of my favorite enemies in GW1.

Or The Lost – who wouldn’t want to summon one of the two Margonites to side with the good?

How about Optimus Caliph! Summon Mursaat Lord Soul to sight by your side (and potentially against mursaat!).

Shiro was last seen in the Realm of Torment. Which is where Kormir ruled, and where Mallyx – a confirmed spirit to call upon – was.

Master Togo and Mhenlo for sure.. Cynn for the crazy jealouses. Probably any of the gw1 henchies would be great!

Don’t be so sure Mallyxx is confirmed and he was last seen in the Domain of Anguish which is the area you are referencing.

At least Rurik ran ahead, and you had to catch up…. as opposed to having to go back for Trahearne over and over again and hold his hand and make sure he is following.

Rurik was a great hero, and I’m sure he would prove to be a valuable ally in any situation.

They flat-out listed him off as one of the legends during the announcement. He is 100% confirmed.

My bet goes for Archemorus. As seen in the trailer, Rytlock was using a spear on land while also having a sword. I guess that he was able to use the spear because he summoned Archemorus.

The new class seems like a ritualist on steroids! Not that it’s a bad thing. Ritualists are awesome. I’m looking forward to the new class, but honestly, from an outside perspective, the class seems pretty OP.
“Here we have the ranger! It uses a bond with animals to tackle obstacles! Here’s an elementalist who uses neat spells to conquer foes. Engineers use portable turrets and gadgets!
And here’s the Revenant. It breaks the barrier between dimensions to channel powerful heroes and demigods and kills you with the universe.”

Of course I probably exaggerated it in my head, and I’m positive the revenant won’t be a god-crushing force that towers over other classes. I just thought it was interesting.
