Not everyone bought HOT. Adding it to the dailies would disadvantage some of the player base.
By your logic, adding gliding in core Tyria should never be done because it would “disadvantage” some of the player base, so obviously they would never do that…..oh wait.
By my logic adding HOT to the dailies will see players who bought it being able to receive more rewards from the dailies than those who didn’t. Irrespective of achievement points it would be turning the dailies into something that could alienate part of the player base.
Also, this “disadvantaged player base” sure is going to feel glum when Living story 3 comes around and is locked to them as an expansion only series of events.
Your knowledge of Living Story 3 exceeds mine, I had no definite understanding that non HOT players were going to be locked out of it.
Basically, I agree completely with the OP, adding this would be great and does no harm to anyone else.
It would harm the non HOT players for the reasons I’ve already stated.
There are lots of rewards and things that HoT players have access to that non HoT owners don’t. You are really over embellishing things.
I buy gems for gold and bought a legendary, is that unfair or “harming” someone else?
I can level up a character to 80 in a couple hours and have full ascended gear on them, is that going to “harm” someone else?
I can buy any weapon skin off the bltc, will that “harm” another player?
I can glide by all the players who didn’t buy HoT, is that “harming” them?
Honestly, I don’t feel bad for players who are unwilling to buy an expansion then complain that they don’t get something out of it or complain that other players have access to things they paid for.
I’m sorry, but your arguments aren’t valid.

They clarified this before HoT was released – basically, most (if not all) parts of LS3 are going to take place in HoT areas, and as such, will be inaccessible to core players.

Not in the dailies.

Don’t get me started on how un-Legendary a Legendary actually is.

The topic was about adding HOT to the dailies in some manner. Everyone can do the dailies, but not everyone can play HOT. The dailies are about earning 10 achievement points and obtaining sundry rewards. If you can’t see that giving HOT owners more ways to get those gives them an advantage over non HOT owners then I really can’t help you.

Im fully aware, I’m the one who made this topic. I suggested to add hot dailies to the current daily list.
Your augment is invalid and doesn’t make any sense.
Players can buy the expansion if they want. If the don’t want to buy HoT, then they don’t get stuff from HoT.

I said that players who don’t have HOT would be disadvantaged in the acquisition of dailies and they would be. HOT players would have more options, non hot players would have less options than the HOT players. That’s not an argument, that’s a fact.
Isn’t that the whole point of buying an expansion? Getting more options?

Then they can buy the expansion to get those additional options that others paid $50-$100 to access…
I’d like to quote you…
“I think you might be confusing “casual” with “entitled” and it’s a common misconception on these forums. An allegedly “casual” player who won’t do fractals complaining that he’s being denied access to the ascended gear doesn’t mean that every casual player is complaining about it.”
If you don’t buy something then you are not entitled to it.
Players who won’t buy HoT shouldn’t be complaining about being denied access to dailies, masteries, gliding, certain rewards, raids, future living story 3, future legendary armor…

They won’t have to if HOT isn’t added to the dailies.

That’s not actually me you’re quoting, but we’re not talking about not wanting to do something, we’re talking about not being able to.

I don’t know if players are complaining about being denied to areas of HOT, but they would certainly have a right to question the addition of HOT areas to the dailies, which, as I’ve already stated, would put them at a disadvantage in obtaining the dailies.
That is you I am quoting to make a point. You either buy something or earn it, players can’t complain if they are not willing to either of those. Players who bought HoT are entitled to everything it offers or could offer, those that don’t buy are not entitled to anything.
No. “Hard core” and “Casual” players can not co-exist, because each demands the others content be destroyed. It’s as simple as that.
I get what you are saying, but with the world as big as it is, don’t you think they could create areas that would cater to both. Maybe a section of the world would cater to hard core gamers, and another that casual players would get a lot of fun out of without being over challenged.
I see the need for both. There are people who only use a game for entertainment and often don’t have time to commit to it in any way. And the hard core gamers that use it for sport need to be challenged.
In my opinion, I just thing there could be areas geared toward one or another like zones are character leveled.
In terms of -actual- content? yes, you can design an MMO to facilitate the needs of all. However, that isn’t how it works out.
See…the hard core people need rewards in terms of loot, the casual people see that loot, and want it, but they don’t actually want to put in the time to get it.
Thus begins the great decline. Casual players aren’t satisfied with just having their own content, that they can do. They want to do (and benefit from) all content, regardless if they put in the time or have to skill to actually do said content.
Example: The Jumping puzzles that came with the holiday events. Even know the reward is useless and cosmetic, people flamed and roared on the forums about how difficult the puzzle was, and that they wanted easy mode versions of it, but still wanted the rewards.
It’s because of this, that casual and hardcore can never co-exist.

I’m a casual player and I’ve been co-existing with hardcore players since launch, so have many others. Not every casual player wants the rewards without putting in the effort. I’m not brilliant at jumping puzzles, I couldn’t do the Mad King’s Clock Tower to save myself. I complained a lot about that one… to my friends. I shouted at my monitor, my mouse, my keyboard and even my hands a couple of times but it was my fault I couldn’t do it, nobody else to blame. Making it easier probably wouldn’t have helped me much. I did the rest of the Mad King stuff and it was fine.
I didn’t even attempt the Wintersday jumping puzzle because I’m not brilliant at jumping puzzles. I did the rest of the Wintersday stuff and it was fine. I did Flame and Frost and I did Southsun Cove, no real drama there it just took me longer.
It took me months to get 100% World Completion but I got there. It’s going to take me much longer to get my legendary, but, barring accident, injury or illness, I’ll get there too.

Right, I’ve got you, I thought you meant from this thread. Boy, you went back a long way to find that one didn’t you? Two years…. I’d forgotten about that. However, it’s not relevant to this thread because it was about content that was available to everyone. Right here, right now, you’re talking about taking content that isn’t available to everyone and bolting it on to content that currently is available to everyone. You’d be giving HOT players more opportunities to acquire the dailies and the fact that you can’t see that the imbalance unfairly favours HOT players is beyond my understanding.
However, the solution is quite simple… Don’t add HOT to the dailies.
It would harm the non HOT players for the reasons I’ve already stated.
I don’t PVP so I’m ‘harmed’ by not having 8 out of the 12 daily options available to me .. that’s my choice, same as someone who CHOOSES not to buy HOT.
That said, I don’t agree with this suggestion, assuming the OP is suggesting a zone meta is selected for the day .. and given that the HOT zonse are meta-or-die affairs there’s nothing else to have as a ‘daily’, unless you’re going to suggest a daily Adventure, but I can’t believe you’re that much of a masochist .. Anet haven’t provided any figures about the percentage of failed metas over successes but I expect the success rate is a pitifully low percentage .. not least because so many events in the chains are bugged and stall!

Eh, no need to assume when you could just read.
Dailies at this point are pretty self explanatory and obviously there are a number of different ones.
Players have been wrecking the meta events for months.
Bugs exist around the game, just what it is. There are a plethora of non bugged events and such.
If you don’t buy something then you are not entitled to it.
I am inclined to agree with this statement. It does apply to you as well of course. For example, you did not pay for dailies in HoT.
Adding my vote to having dailies for HoT. They have dailies for the old maps already. They should include the new maps on their own daily tab.
Update from Reddit last night from developer @mikezadorojny…

So it’s official, HoT daily achievements are coming. Good news.
