There are 2 types of people...
I’ll be standing in LA wishing I had money for the expansion.
If the specializations turn out to be good, the second. If they don’t, both.
I’ll be the guy who didn’t buy the expansion because of hobosacks.
If they do fix hobosacks, I’ll probably do both.
Both.
On the day of release, ill advance my Revenant to level 80 with tomes of knowledge, then ill go to the jungle, and explore it, while learning how to play Revenant.
There are two kinds of people: Those who think there are two kinds of people and everyone else.
Seriously though: Probably jungle first Revenant second OR both simultaneously if the final version of the class looks fun enough.
Acrobatics trait line. Then sell it back
to them for $50. Brilliant! – ghost of P.T. Barnum
There are those who will join the army of Revenants.
And there are those who will explore the inner ends of the jungle.
Who will you be when the expansion comes out?
People that play pvp even casually have tons of tomes, I for one, have few stacks.
I’ll be standing in LA wishing I had money for the expansion.
Aww. Is there really nothing you could do to save 2-3 $/€/£ a week? You’d have pretty much the money needed by release date that way.
I can’t imagine that people who have pc and internet can’t afford an expansion. I simply can’t…
Anyway, that’s a tough question: I think I will first start a revenant and from time to time switch to one of my other classes (usually Guardian, Warrior, Ranger, Thief).
‘would of been’ —> wrong
I’ll be either taking my instant 80’d rev into the jungle or my ele into the jungle to get its specialisation.
I guess ill be the 3rd type. I’ll use this. Teleport to a friend. I’ll let them do all the work then port my Revenant to them. ^^
I’ll be either taking my instant 80’d rev into the jungle or my ele into the jungle to get its specialisation.
Gonna have exotic+ gear ready?
20 tomes still missing for an instant 80 Revenant but I guess I still can get enough before the HoT. I just started to farm some ascended materials to gear it (weapons at least…). I have enough Karma and badges to sort out the armour problem. Also I have some ascended trinkets/accessories hidden in my bank (condi damage mostly but who cares…).
10 minutes after I geared my Rev I gonna head into the Jungle and terrorise everybody with the lack of my skill to play the profession :P
This is my plan
And Garambola is right… If somebody cannot give up a bottle of coke every week to buy the HoT….? I don’t know what to say…
Both !
Instant 80 my revenant (look already set) with ascended gear (bank golem <3), and TP to Maguuma.
I have a level 20 scroll, 60 tomes and a bunch of skill points in my inventory. I’m getting the time gated materials crafted now for the ascended weapons and I’m planning to get temple armor for the first set at least. I’ve got the commendations for the accessories and hopefully enough laurels for the rest.
I plan to have my Revenant fully set up in the least amount of time I can manage.
There are those who will join the army of Revenants.
And there are those who will explore the inner ends of the jungle.
Who will you be when the expansion comes out?
You missed the 3rd type, who has 200+ skill books and can level up 3 revenants to 80 right away and explore the inner ends of the jungle with them.
I’ll be either taking my instant 80’d rev into the jungle or my ele into the jungle to get its specialisation.
Gonna have exotic+ gear ready?
It’s easy enough to get a full set of exotic. Between WvW, karma armor, and throwing some gold on the TP getting fully suited in exotics should happen day one.
And that’s not accounting for account-bound ascended (thanks again, ArenaNet!). Strip down your other characters and you’re good to go.
You know..you can always be both. Just powerlevel a revenant to 80 with books and such and u can explore the jungle together with other players day 1. It’s an available option.
I’ll be doing both. Thanks for the POI I have a build set up already for the Revenant to start with (assuming they don’t make any wild changes and that the unknown trait lines and specialisation don’t catch my eye more) so I’ll be able to jump straight into the jungle with an instant level 80, fully built Rev.
Ill probably let the Revenant onslaught die down first, and see what people say about it. It actually seems like a class I want to play even if it wasn’t the new class, prolly will roll one sooner or later.
That and I really want to get down to exploring and earning masteries, so I’ll probably dive into Maguuma first. That virgin journey where no one can claim some superiority of “how to do thing properly” is the most fun in an MMo for me.
Why can’t I be both. I plan to make a Revenant, insta-level to 80 with my tomes, and jump into the jungle to learn the jungle and the Revenant at the same time. That’ makes me both type of people by your definition.
making a revenant, as awesome as it looks, is definitely not on my list of priorities. i want to experience new content before i go through old content with new lens.

and then you won’t play either because your wrist will go on a strike after opening and confirming 79 level up notifications (including destroying all the unsellable soulbound gear they throw your way)

Touche. That made me laugh and cry a little bit at the same time
With so many people trying to learn a new class on the fly, the world boss fights (if any) are going to be absolute train wrecks.

i power leveled an engi to like, 55 a few weeks ago. it wasn’t fun.

All the new Revenants should get together and start a leveling zerg.

I’ve opened over 750 gold Pavilion chests, 250 silver Pavilion chests, 10,000+ champ bags, and salvaged everything that came out of ‘em and went right back into chasing Kuraii in the Pavilion. 79 levels of item is nothin’!

In the first days the new area will be completely flooded with players. I’m going to wait a few days and play around with revenant/specializations first
~Sincerely, Scissors
my insta 80 revenant will explore the jungles
i’m going into the new xpac locations first thing, and probably going to be focusing on specializations and masteries. I have very little interest in the revenant and it’s class mechanic outside of fancy new skills (which specializations will hopefully offer) so i’m probably not even going to make one, especially if they don’t include an extra character slot. (for the first couple months at least)
well i most likely gonna be one of the goofs who fall over the edges like the lemmings before i check out the rev in detail.

it’s not a carpal tunnel because your bone structure is just an empty hollow by now
There are 10 types of people: Those who understand binary and those who don’t.
With that aside, probably explore first, let the Revenant get at least first balancing patch through so I won’t end up either playing horribly underpowered or overpowered character.
You do realize many veteran players can be a LVL 80 Revenant less than a minute after the Expansion goes live, right?
Fate is just the weight of circumstances
That’s the way that lady luck dances
I’ll be the second. I ain’t leader of Jungle Krewe for nothing!:>

Sounds about right, but it was worth it! Thirty days to go from 10g to making a legendary was well worth how long it actually took to open them all. lol
Was also quite an enlightening learning experience on how low of a chance you got to get exotics from those darn bags. I only found 69 out of all of ’em.
Uh….. both. Cause both is goooooood.

please bind double click to the scroll wheel or something. it hurts just to think of you manually double clicking through all of that.
I’ll be trying out the specialisation on my Guardian first and exploring the new content. After a few days I’ll probably tome a revenant to 80 to try out. My focus won’t be on a revenant though, not until the profession as a whole is balanced after launch. I want a more stable idea of what I’d be investing time into – the new profession might be pretty weak in an area I play a lot and don’t want to waste my time if thats the case
Guardian / WvW Enthusiast
80 tomes of knowledge and instant access to exotic gear…… MY BODY IS READY
I, for one, will simply take my Necro and go visit that jungle. And that Necro just happens to be a Sylvari, too, so if there really are unique tidbits of dialogue for them (mostly “we hate you all” and “you kitten plants can’t be trusted” I’d imagine), I’ll get to see them. Then I’ll try to seek out the specialization and have fun playing switcharoo between that and Necro. And then I’ll propably start a Revenant… which might go the same way all other classes went I treid out : Abandoned below lvl 20. Or, actually not cause i have a scroll. And propably a lot of tomes for finishing dungeon-paths to get weaponcrates and the high-cost-parts of the armor, so i have my Necro equipped to brave the jungle.
After POI I lost every last bit of interest about Revenant and if they dont add free cahracter slot I dont think I even will creating one. My engi with hammer into the jungle!
Tekkit’s Workshop
I’ll be too busy playing with specializations on my existing 80s to fret over Revenants too much (initially).
I wonder what your basis for comparison is…”

I lol’ed.
After I saw some rev skills/traits, I think will spend 1 hour with rev, get bored and relog to my main to get the specialisation.
I’ll be in the army of Revenants, waiting for any bugs and overflow problems in the Jungle to calm down.

Really? Please tell me this is meant to be humor. If it isn’t, I apologize, but I cannot fathom that hobo sacks would be the sole cause of a person not getting the expansion. It made me actually laugh out loud.
I will be doing both. I will level my Rev to 80 using a level 20 scroll and then tomes. Then I will explore the new content. Learn both of them at the same time.
im explore the jungle with my revenant lal
