Today's PoI: Pact Commander Masteries
So if I get this mastery maxed I will automatically get all loot from anything I kill.
Can I please turn this off if I want? If I’m wandering around a level 1 to 15 zone killing things I don’t want the loot.
And does it work in WvW or is it just more pve kittykitty?
Rubi, why didn’t you tell us if auto loot works in WvW or not? chat was blowing up and you ignored us
Will auto-loot work in WvW?
Edit:
And sorry for the other thread on the frontpage that I made literally 30sec ago. Didn’t see your post back then.

Having a tag, will we be able to disable these from maps if we wish to? I think a lot of players will have it I don’t want to see 1000 on my map always.
The new auto loot, can I disable that if I don’t want to use it in low level areas?
There is a really long and punishing jump puzzle in LA — can we turn off the speed boost given by the mastery line if we wish?
Sorrows Furnace
When I tuned into todays POI this was the only thing I wanted to know, and despite chat blowing up asking it, we still have not been told. /sadface
For the Supply Line mastery level, can you please, please, please create a recipe for one of the merchants to let us craft a molten jetpack (preferably an account bound, I think). Still really disappointed this hasn’t been rereleased for both all the new player and those of us (like me) that were not lucky enough to be graced with it as a drop (no matter how many times we ran molten facility).
While the crafting one is nice, its a wasted line for us that have maxed crafting Is there anything else that can go with it on that “level” (not sure what else to call them)?
Please give us a keyring…

I don’t care how many ascended materials I’d need to craft it, but please make this skin affordable for less than 3k gold!
Especially since Engis are now liberated from the hobosack oppression, this skin is one of the most-wanted one amongst many engineers, not to mention other classes’ players who want to give their characters a mechanized look.
And just a suggestion, spinal blades backpack, molten jetpack, as well as other “winged” backpack skins should be customization options for our glider-skins

Can you make sure to include a way to disable the city speed boost, or at least turn off the visuals for it?
I really don’t want to have swiftness lines coming out of my calves all the time, to the extent that I won’t be taking this mastery line at all if they’re enforced. And that’s as someone who’s really interested in the helping-others elements, who already helps people a fair bit, and who was planning on taking this mastery line first, right up until I saw those swiftness lines.
I already use 25% speed boosts on all my characters for running around the non-city maps and having forced visuals for something that won’t even be useful for me until I take the last tier of the mastery line really irritates me.
It’s just not a look I care for in the least, especially since in the cities I want to show off what I look like, not what mastery track I’ve gone down.
Also, as both a roleplayer and a jump puzzle fanatic, I’m less than fond of the speed for other reasons. Sprinting around all the time breaks my immersion a bit when wandering around the city in-character, and having it enforced removes the option to tailor your movement speed to how your character acts.
For the jumping puzzles, having a different speed level in the cities than in the other parts of the world will likely cause me to miss a bunch of jumps when doing the Lion’s Arch puzzles. I already have to pause and wait should someone puts swiftness on me to let that clear, to ensure I don’t over-jump.
Darn it, I was going to beta after the PoI. But then beta started early and the next time I saw the clock the PoI had been over for an hour …. is it on YouTube yet?

Will you drop that commander pact mastery line before expansion? I would be nice move from your side.
There should be option to turn on / off that bonus speed.
Divide / make more transparent info about bonus speed only in cities and about auto-loot; becouse people are a bit confused and think that auto-loot is only restricted to city areas.
The Dulfy notes picked up on the WvW auto-loot (though keep in mind it is not an official source, but is very reliable):
“The exception is WvW, since loot bags always spawns at your feet. If you waypoint, the loot will spawn at your location and should get immediately picked up.”
That sounds to me like it will be turned on for WvW also.
1) Will the “Pact Commander Masteries” be locked until one of our characters has reached the point in the vanilla story of becoming a pact commander.
2) Any plans in place to stop people trolling, or scamming, with the “newb friendly help” map marker?.

1) It doesn’t look like it will be locked, mainly as Season 2 wasn’t locked off if you had not completed the personal story (and that referenced the personal story a lot); if you have Heart of Thorns, you will almost certainly be able to rank up this mastery line without completing the original personal story.
2) From the livestream, they seemed to just hope that the majority of players won’t use it in a negative way. Of course, they did also mention that you can report players that are abusing the marker, but as to whether they are adding a new report option for that, I don’t know.
Just saw the live stream notes now. So absolutely no tie between pact commander masteries and being pact commander. And 98% of players won’t troll so there is no problem -.-

I have only 1 question:
Do the bonuses from this mastery line are activated all the time even when you don’t activate mentor mode?

From the livestream, Josh clarified that the passive bonuses (such as auto loot and run speed in cities) will always be active as soon as the mastery rank is unlocked, even if you don’t have the mentor tag turned on.
Is there a summary of it up somewhere?

This. I just logged in to write about the permanent swiftness being not so good idea, considering jumping puzzles. Sometimes you do not want the swiftness to be on.
Rubi, why didn’t you tell us if auto loot works in WvW or not? chat was blowing up and you ignored us
No, not ignoring, I promise! I don’t watch chat while the show is live. It’s way too distracting. Mark tries to keep an eye on it from the production desk, and copypastes questions onto the monitor that I can see when he’s able.
So even when chat’s blowing up I will only see it once–if/when Mark has time to feed it to my monitor while producing the show.
As far as the question itself, I had to check on that and it takes extra time with so many people away at gamescom. Something that I mentioned during the show is that there are some questions that we simply can’t answer with certainty yet because developers are still doing work on the Mastery System. We haven’t decided how we’d like instant loot to appear in WvW yet, but we’re looking at lots of ways to make sure this is accessible to players there.

People won’t troll? Yikes. It sounds like you read some inaccurate notes. The episode is on YouTube, so you can see it firsthand. Josh and I talked about the fact that people do troll, they do abuse stuff like this, and they do take advantage of it. We cover the mentor section at the beginning of the episode.
Can you make sure to include a way to disable the city speed boost, or at least turn off the visuals for it?
Josh and I talked about this after we read your post and he’s going to look into the mechanics of it from the dev side. (As always, this is not me saying "Yes, that’s a great idea, it’s DONE! ) Thank you for giving your feedback on this, seriously. Stuff like this is helpful.

I like it.
I love speed buffs. Especially when I dont have to trait or skill for it. Would 33% speed boost for PvE open world, and out of combat, be too much to ask?
Auto loot, it really sounds like a QoL improvement that should be added as baseline for everyone. But, this mastery doesn’t sound as difficult as others. You get it by playing new content. Something most of us are going to do anyway. So I cant see a reason it would be an issue.
Crafting- Not my thing past 80
New merchants? I have my good eye on that one.
Revive Speed. Yes! I actually like the downed state mechanic. I cant tell you how many times I’ve seen or been a player rezzing another player and almost get there, and boom, the rezzer gets blindsided/stuck and death. Maybe this will give us that extra second or two for a dramatic rescue. Combined with the DP reduction, you can turn the tide of battle quickly if your a mentor. It also encourages reviving. No, dont WP back. Rez here where we can keep our buffs and numbers. Instead of everyone getting slaughtered running back one by one. There are situations where WP back will be the correct choice. But when its not, this mastery will help.
Other than that, it looks like a great mastery to expand in the future. I cant think if anything specific. Maybe some small incremental bonuses to magic find or stats while you have a party.
Loot should be mailed to you instead of losing it due to inventory full.
Watching the PoI now, here are the questions that occur to me:
Will there be color choices for the Mentor star like with commander tags? To help discern which mentor in a map you want to go to?
What is the range on the new auto loot? When I was sniping Mordrem during an escort I could see there was loot on the mobs at the bottom of the cliff but of course could not abandon my post to go get it.
I assume that even starting with a stockpile of mastery points veterans will still have to spend the time XPing them up for each unlock. Is this correct?
All I can say on this topic is, I really am dissapointed that this is one of the 7 masteries we are getting, let me preface by saying if you want to use this track or are excited about it then that is absolutely fine good for you! Now with that said, the only thing really interesting was the final thing in which you can get non-existent recipes now, everything else just seems… very situational at best, I guess it’s just not for me then?
Now please do excuse me while I go laugh hysterically at the comment about being able to help “newer players progress through difficult pve content” you mean the content that is non-existent in the game right now? Post-level 80 maybe I’m being a little unfair, but pre-level 80 the game is a cake-walk right now and if you truly believe that the mentor system’s reviving will actually be necessary to do anything pre-level 80 your way out of touch with your game, unless your a level 20 character throwing your head against a level 50 champion I just don’t get what you guys are talking about

You are excused. When you return, I can help you with a few things you missed. There will be 39 masteries when HoT launches, not seven. It does sound like this isn’t for you, but with 38 others to choose from and more to come after launch, you will very likely find a lot that are for you.
While it’s all well and good to let people know that you have a high level of expertise and the game is easy for you, people just coming into the game don’t feel that way. There are a lot of skilled veteran players who realize this and spend their time and expertise to help newcomers. We really appreciate that, and the Pact Commander Mastery track is something we can give that portion of our player base to help them continue making our community better. It’s one mastery out of 39. I personally feel that it’s the least we could do.
(Edited because I typoed in a fairly significant way. Sorry about that!)

I’m confused. I was under the impression that there are 7 mastery tracks, but 39 masteries within those tracks

You are right, that was a bad typo on my part. I was typing while talking to someone here in the room with me and put words where they weren’t supposed to be. 39 masteries and seven tracks!
I actually came back here to fix this because I was off doing something else and stopped in the middle of my task, thinking “Hold on… did you you say… Oh nooo go check now.” Sorry about that!
Re: Auto loot (as opposed to AoE loot that we currently have)
Right now I can kill things at 1500 range on my ranger but I can’t AoE loot that far away and have to run closer before the loot key works.
What’s the range on the real auto looting that we can earn?
Rubi, why didn’t you tell us if auto loot works in WvW or not? chat was blowing up and you ignored us

Alright, thx Rubi, I sort of came to the conclusion after not getting a straight answer the first time we asked that auto loot in WvW maybe added into the wvw masteries instead, so I’m going to assume you will make it available that way, it does make sense, because I can imagine the qq of people saying they don’t want to PVE for it, so yeah I see the logic.

So here is a short bit of feedback/questions regarding this mastery line:
1. Please provide some option to disable viewing the tags on map/mini-map
2. with “Productive Down Time” could you find a way to give some value for this to those of us who have already maxed all the crafting levels, other than a minor speed boost in town?
3. Will “Productive Down Time” bonuses stack with crafting booster bonuses? If so, how?
4. Can you make an option to disable the speed boost for those who need to for JPs?
5. Will the revive speed increase stack with traits that provide a similar bonus (i.e. Medic’s Feedback; Ritual of Life; Arcane Resurrection; Merciful Ambush; Allies’ Aid)

Thanks for your honesty, I understand that the Pact Commander mastery track probably isn’t aimed towards players like me at all, but it still does frustrate me a little bit to get so many details on the one mastery track that I have no interest in XD
Also in case you can’t tell yes I am also a little frustrated by the lack of real challenging but fun end-game content in GW2 at the moment… Fingers crossed HoT fixes that problem for me since Fractals are just… frustrating
