Q:
Turn off friendly AOE particle effects?
There isn’t a way to completely disable them. You can reduce the amount that you see during world bosses by setting the amount of players you see on screen to the lowest setting though. It’s very noticeable when doing shaman (Maw)
You cant turn off spell effects from other players, there are no options in the graphics setting for it.
Im sure people have asked anet this question for the past 3 years, but its been ignored for some unknown reason.

This has been requested for years, and ANet has done little beyond an option that does almost nothing. Ayri’s workaround is the state-of-the-art.
They probably never separated the effects from the skills, which means it would be a lot of work. It is a serious QoL issue to me, but obviously not one to A-net.
Would love an ally spell transparency setting.
Too many particles flying everywhere makes those orange / red circles kitten near impossible to see at times.
It’s called fog of war. With 50 players throwing all sorts of skills against a boss, how would anyone be expected to see anything? I always feel like my one or two little contributions just get put into the big mix of death.
Ok so it’s just a game. But it’s a war game.
Just like they figure out how many players are around during an event in order to scale it, They should be able to do the same for the In-combat players during an event, to make them and their skills transparent after they reach a certain number.
It would be nice to turn off, or at least turn down, the flashy effects… especially in large groups. In raids, the ability to see your enemy will undoubtedly be crucial.
Gameplay means being able to play the game. If the flashy effects are blocking the view, it hampers gameplay.
This would be awesome. It’d be really nice to be able to see Mossman’s windup animation in all that fire.

Honestly, if this is something the engine just can’t do, telling us so at least says that you know it’s an issue.
If they’ve acknowledged this, can anyone provide a link?
They shouldn’t turn them off completely, because it’s important to know what is being cast (especially in smaller groups), but ideally there would be a “low impact” setting, where spell effects are replaced with much lighter and more simplified versions, so that it requires less processing and makes it easier to read each individual effect.
you spend complaining about it on the forums, you’d be
done by now.”
At the very least, there needs to be some setting or option that makes the flames from the many Burning stacks on a boss not show up. It makes it problematic to make out animated telegraph tells. (and asura in general.)
I’d also LOVE to be able to, on my end, either tone down or turn off the trail visuals for legendary greatswords… a couple of max-size male norns swinging Twilights in a small area might as well be an AoE player blind. >.<
The other stuff is mostly manageable, but those two things are problematic.
I support this, just like the last two dozen times when we didn’t get a reaction from A’m-not-talking-to-you-Net.
Pet project: Outfit overhaul.

I actually felt a bit guilty at one point testing out my Reaper with that huge scythe and all the particle effects. There was a standard size human character that was barely visible. Forget catching a glimpse of an Asura!

I find this very annoying too. I’ve used the option to turn particle effects down and its liveable in most big fights, but with the raid in HOTS, it was really difficult to see what was going on with the Vale Guardian, talk about add pressure lol

Been asking for this for years. Still very much needed especially on enemies such as Mossman.
Ditto, let us set it to outlines only or something like that…
Rift has this option, it would be great for GW2.
