Its the necromancer!! Woot Woot!!

The pvp community reminds me of what Obi-kittenenobi describes Mos Eisley as from star wars.

With the preview being necromancers, it can be deduced they’ll be getting “shouts” as their utility.

Interestingly the specialization post foreshadowed the upcoming previews. All we had to do was fill in the blanks which class would fit the skills.

“One specialization will have access to traps, while at least one profession’s elite specialization will be a full set of six shouts.”

Whatever they might be called, a banshee type archetype sounds appealing. Would also nice giving Necro a support option they lacked.

Namewise, hmm, the concept art seems to incorporate a lot of thorns — the green is just the profession color but still, very jungly — so what HoT-focused concept might fit?

Given that they avoided “Paragon” for Guardian, I think they might avoid “Ritualist” here — that was a GW1 class, right?

That was a joke on the back of the dumb dragon hunter phys

However, it could also end up as a good alternative as “Ritualist”
That woudl brign back at least some nostalgia back, Necros already have now Spectral Magic and the whole thing about marjory and her dead sister reincarnated soul embodied into her famaly blade whould have been all so useless and unimportant, if that stuff wouldnt have been all hints for ritualistic style gameplay elements gettign merged more with the already more into ritualistic gameplay changed necromancer design with all their Spectral Skills

PS: banshee is no profession name. It is a same as stupid garbage as like dragon hunter.
That here is a banshee >.<:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Banshee

Plus, its females only!!

Personally, I don’t think Banshee is at all relatable to “Dragonhunter”, but if it’s a female-only name (which I only realized just now), then it needs to not be the case just the same as why Valkyrie can never be a class.

Hmm I can see that actually lol male banshees….Manshees!! Jokes aside another concept that this spec.

  • Glyphs – Where they do either Debuffs for a short perior of time.
  • Manipulations – Well like mesmers where you can steal boons you can create a false state of fear in your allies.
  • Banners – This is my favorite one where mainly because having a banner that causes debuffs in a area and you can move them can bring alot of party utility.
  • Spirits – Perhaps pulse out debuffs to.

HOORAY!

Again, quite pleased to be wrong. Necro is one I have been waiting for, quite impatiently to be honest. Of course, I about bounced out of my chair with giddiness at Mesmer, and I’m stoked for Ele as well.

What can I say? I’m a Scholar at heart…

Don’t look at me like that. Whatever you’ve heard, it’s probably not true.

I’m thinking Reaper might work. There’s the association with the Grim Reaper and harvesting souls/lives, but there is also an association with reaping an agricultural harvest (also known as chopping up plants) that works with the Plant-theme of Mordremoth’s minions.

Also, the prospect of a vampiric Necro-Specialization, especially if it can transfer life from enemies to allies, is getting me all excited.

-are there shadows of blades/swords like a peafowl’ tail (not full) or just leaf symbolize jungle,
-beetwen necro and sword/leaf thingy its look like calling DS 3 skill, I’m pointing at word “calling” and simillar words to that.
I’m going too far with analyzing concept art, but still 2 days more.

My most personal favourite would be “Witcher” with banner gameplay named for them not Banners, but instead “Hex Crystals” that they use like ritualistic “Ash Urns” which change their gameplaay skilsl while they hold them and cause debuff effects for enemies, while they are placed, because working like counter effects to banners reducing Stats instead of increasing them.

Death Shroud would get changed for Witchers, due to their whole gameplay beign based more on melee combat ,their traits, their hex crystals and new skilsl will help them to survive alot better in melee, thus they don’t need anymore the death shroud as a second life bar to protect themself from lethal attacks.

Death Shroud would get changed into “Soul Connectivity”, a status that you need to build up to become able to infuse your used weapon with various special souls so that your weapon skills will gain temporary based on the infused soul special unique effects or even complete effect changes, like Skill 5 of the greatsword gettign completely changed based on your infused spirit together with like 3 to 4 different Souls that you can infuse your weapon with which are based on a genreral theme of negative “Emotions”

  • Hatred (red and bloody style)
  • Sadness (purple and darkness style)
  • Angst (green and terror/bone style)
  • Greed (black and ??? style, no clues/idea now)

which witchers turn into manifestative Soul Weapons (animation of their weapons change based on their soul’s emotion that is infused to it)

The Hex Crystals could look like some kind of “obelisks/necrotic totems in crystal form made of bloodstone dust/crystals gg

something on the line of this would I find awesome, especialyl when it brings bakc “Hexes” as their unique gameplay for utilities which would be not so easy removablre conditions then, unless you kill the origin…

In my humble opinion, I doubt ANet would give emotional sway over to Necromancers (other than, obviously, Fear/Terror), because they are in the realm of the Mesmer (since GW1)

ritualist used already emotional spirits, mesmer is nothign at all about emotions, at least not the ones that have to do with negative emotions in that kind of way, how they would fit to the necromancer and its specializasting, as they already use “Fear” against their enemie,s which is kind a part of “Angst” already and very similar …

An elite specialization about negative emotions is not so unlikely as you may believe, maybe not now, but surely later with another elite spec.
Negative Emotions, hexes and Banner like Gameplay together with a melee weapon orientated condition hybrid weapon is imo, what a “Witcher” as GW2 version would stand out for me.

So far, there is no greatsword build under the other classes that can wield creatswords, that is good for condition,s all through the bank just power build greatsword skill bardes. It makes only sense, that the greatsword ksills for the necro this time need to be some melee orientated condition hybrid skills so that theres finalyl also a build in this game, for that it makes more sense to use greatswords with condition damage as main stat, rathe than power.

PS: @ Ferever, this is no dumb concept, in fact this is also somethign that I had back in mind and not just only the connection between you and the the chosen emotional soul, but also to connect you with the souls of your allies.
There is 1 class gameplay I still have back in my mind that I want to see back in a good MMORPG of latest days, a gameplay concept, that I once played in m life in an old MMORPG and have never ever seen before beign used somewhere else in a MMORPG.

Mesmer (in GW1, mind you) had quite a few abilities that made opponents feel certain emotions: Empathy, Remorse, Shame, Regret, etc. (http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/List_of_mesmer_skills)

My guess is that they’ll keep this functionality in the Mesmer profession for future Elite Specs.

Also, Reaper is to classy for the necro if you want a profession that reap things… Well… There is always Peon that reap grain in fields. Even Better, the Dragon Peon elite spec. (I’m amazed at myself for this one…)

I think chances are good we’re getting a medium armor class. So either thief, ranger or engineer. But the engineer still looked like it needed some work (last we saw) so in my mind it’s between thief and ranger. I’d go ranger since they’ve already released the specialisation name and weapon.

This is my thinking as well, though I am more thinking they will not reveal ranger yet because we already know more stuff about it than thief. I think that because we know less about thief, and so far we have had reveals where we only knew the weapons, it seems likely to be thief to me.

And I was wrong.

As it seems armour weight has no/little bearing on the reveal order, it may be based on the elite spec name. So far they have been in alphabetical order, so if the Necro elite spec’s name follows suit we may not be able to deduce the order of the profession reveals without knowing the elite names. However, by that logic that would mean the necro elite spec’s name would need to begin with ‘Dr’, as we already know the ranger’s elite spec is Druid.

Of course, there may not be any logical order to it at all, but I am now more inclined to believe that the reveal order is based on the state of finish of each elite spec, and that the profs we have had so far are simply in a better state to show than the others.

Simplicity is complex.

Good feedback is key to getting the developers to listen to you.

You can see the Necro using the Mesmer auto animation (sword floating and rotating between his hands). That animation doesn’t really lend itself to melee attacks.

But you do see him autoattacking right after in melee range, so it’s a mixed weapon.

Dreadknight sounds good, but I doubt Anet will use the word knight, as I do not think it would fit the lore of Tyria. Maybe Dreadblade? Dreadreaper?

The more I think about it the more I am thinking it is based on the state of completion.

Simplicity is complex.

Good feedback is key to getting the developers to listen to you.

Them green beams could simply be a skill effect. Kind of like the slashes that happen during 100B.

You can see the Necro using the Mesmer auto animation (sword floating and rotating between his hands). That animation doesn’t really lend itself to melee attacks.

But you do see him autoattacking right after in melee range, so it’s a mixed weapon.

Ahh, I wasn’t watching the video. I took it from the image.

Life is a journey.
