Which race will your Revenant be?
Charr are far from spiritual as well, yet Rytlock is the first Revenant.
Asura works given Tessa, the asura who studies the fractals of the Mists.

Human is my choice, I have a human warrior as my main.
So i have decided delete my warrior and remake it into a charr and use the revenant as my new main.
I build my characters whit a story behind them and i want one that represents me.
Its pointless to have two of me.
Charr are far from spiritual as well, yet Rytlock is the first Revenant.
When I thought about it, I had the shamans from the flame legion in my mind.
Could style my Revenant like some converted flame legion charr. o:
Or maybe like an still actual flame legion charr, who just tries to secretly invade the other legions or something o_o
But now that you mentioned it, some cute female Asura could make a lovely ritu- ehh, Revenant, too…
I’m sick of the leveling campaign, having played all of the human and sylvari lines, along with a Norn line and bits of charr and asura lines. I’m really not looking forward to leveling a Revenant, but if I had to choose, I’d probably make another sylvari or a human.

I’m going to make my revenant a Male Sylvari, with the name Aconitum Mistgrown. Aconitum is Wolf’s bane, a poisonous plant. The story behind him is that when his pod fell from the tree, the Mother opened a portal to the mists under him. He had to rely on the Dream and the voice of his Mother to find his way out. like this his connection to the dream is unbreakable and Mordremoth has no influence over him. (sorry, I like to make these stories about my characters :p )
Err I already made a thread on it-
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/hot/Your-picked-races-for-your-Revenant/first
In saying so, despite what I had typed on my thread, I actually now going to make a female human now.
I had a mess about in the wardrobe with my Asuran character which didn’t give me a good result (the armor proportation are worse on a heavy armor Asuran!) and when I made a female human (I got a spare slot) I had many good armor combination!
The female armours are quite different to a male (the female Barbaric helm look so much nicer compared to the male versions) however female Asuran (and female Charr) only get to used male armorus.
Female norn.
If constructed right they’re much easier on the eyes if ya know what I mean…
My current 8 characters are Charr. The ninth shall be Charr also.
Regarding you’re take on how the Charr don’t suit the Revenant because its not fitting, in theory, none of the races are fitting, because we have next to no information about the lore of the Revenant. (yet)
Im sure ArenaNet will come up with something multi-racial enough so I can shoehorn a reasonably lore-friendly backstory for my new Charr.
Human!
Sry but I played too much GW1, all my chars are Human, I hate all other races.
If there would be the possibility, I would go to war with all other races.
Better ask who going to main him. I know i will for that sword skill alone where he transform into fog and starts to teleport and stab enemies. kitten.
I will probably go for charr but tbh im not sure about it when i take a look on armors..New Rytlock armor seems to look alright tho
Good tip, I guess I just compare a few heavy armors. Even though, I guess there will be a few nice new armors in HoM (hall of monuments, lol… no) that will fit better to Revenants. So maybe I just wait till its out and take a look at the wardrobe then.

That may not be possible. Just think about how traitorous the Sylvari are. It’d be really cool -and hoping- that they can not be played in HoT. Here’s hoping….

Careful… That might have been the Art Team at it again like the on-land spear…

I’m going to wait till I can preview the armor and then I’ll decide based on that.
Obviously the race/gender on which armors/weapons look best for Revenant. I will let a whole community of beta testers to make me decide which one after the expansion goes live.
Most likely human.
Sylvari, for sure. With the inclusion of their mental struggle against Mordremoth, they’re just so much more interesting than everyone else.
Etheus is a Sylvari whose dream brought him directly into the Mists. He awoke with an incredible knowledge of Tyrian history, and he was able to build up his own proficiency with the unique magics of a Revenant, independent of Rytlock, who views him, like other Sylvari, with suspicion. His link to the Mists makes him more resilient to Mordremoth’s influence, but he still hears the call, and he still struggles to maintain himself.
Human!

but… but that’s Racist…
Charr are far from spiritual as well, yet Rytlock is the first Revenant.

Does this mean we can call Rytlock ‘Shaman Brimstone’ now?
anyway, i’d probably make mine a human – a descendant of the very character who met and/or fought those his descendant will be channeling. in a way ‘inheriting’ his ancestors legacy and experiences. with my hall of monuments and all the stuff he gets from there he already has a few skins he can use.
though it was also a close call between Norn and Asura.
I have all 8 classes at 80 right now. None of which are human, so I’m definitely leaning heavily towards human. Now just to decide whether male or female.
Might make mine female norn. No reason, just cause
Gonna make mine a female Norn as well. She’ll be my 17th character.
League of Omnipotents [Omni], Fort Aspenwood
I’m debating between 3 races. Human, Sylvari and Asura. I’ve almost completely rulled out Asura because heavy armor looks dreadful on a female asura(in my opinion). If something changes then I might, but since I doubt it, I see no reason to make another asura, unfortunately.. Sylvari have some cool armor options but I’m not sure. Human would be cool because she could be a follower of Kormir. Grenth would also make sense for the Revenant seeing as Ritualists usually favored Grenth. However, Since Kormir is the goddess of truth, and the connection to the mists seems like it would be a good fit for a Revenant. So.. I’m at a toss up. I won’t make another charr because the armor problem for them is far worse then the asura in my opinion. And I’m not making another heavy armor norn. My Guardian is already my norn. I’ll probably make a medium armor norn druid.
So there you have it. Either Sylvari or Human.

mist spirit like Razah (human)
I have the same character creating “philosophy” as you OP, those are my chars:
Norn Male Ranger
Norn Female Mesmer
Sylvari Male Elementarist
Sylvari Female Guardian
Asura Male Thief
Asura Female Engineer
Charr Male Warrior
Human Female Necromancer
What I miss are Male Human and Female Charr, since I have a heavy Charr already and both sex share the armor models, I’ll make a Male Human Revenenant.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
Seeing how I have 2 of every race except Charr and Norn, I am going to go with another Charr, unless a specialization option looks more appealing.
Definitely making a Charr, because Charr are awesome.
But, I think I’ll make a Norn as well. I don’t have very many in the first place, and having a developing hero that follows in the footsteps of past heroes is certainly in theme with them.
“I’m finding companies should sell access to forums,
it seems many like them better than the games they comment on.” -Horrorscope.7632
Charr, wanted an excuse to make a heavy armor one and now I got one.
As it stands, I’ll make a human female revenant and design the character to be a descendant of my female canthan GW1 ritualist.
I’ve been thinking Norn. Norn look great in heavy and I don’t have a Norn heavy yet as my warrior is Asura (snickers*) and my Guardian is Sylvari.
I’m particularly excited about the Revenant because in the video it looked like Rytlock was using a staff as a melee weapon! I find Bo Staff Melee fighting to be cool as fly, though what i really wanted was for the thief to get a staff and become a martial artist type of specialization. But the rev will just have to do for now.
And before anybody complains that staves are for wizards or exclusive for magic or whatever, (I’m sure there are some out there who think that) keep in mind that mesmers shoot magical lazer beams out of their greatswords.

Probably Sylvari for me because the glow looks really cool on the Revenant.
I work on systems, combat, skills, and balance.
Not really a question for me. Already have written one char for each race/profession combo, with half of them realised in game so far, so I’ll simply end up having five revenants.
Perhaps the only RP-oriented guild on the server
Main Character: Farathnor (sylvari ranger) 1 of 22
Probably Sylvari for me because the glow looks really cool on the Revenant.
Darn it, I already have 2 Sylvari and was planning to finally make that male human. Now you are drawing me right back to Sylvari!
Like most professions, I think this is one that will probably be fitting for all races, but will still be more fitting for some than others.
An asura would most likely enter the profession as an intellectual study into the Mists, or an asura historian might view it as useful component in learning about historical figures – Statics would be particularly fitting in this case.
Charr have had ritualists in the past, and probably wouldn’t object in general to conjuring legends from history as long as they don’t worship those legends. More generally, if the revenant does actually have power over spirits rather than simply invoking fractal-esque echoes of the legends, then units of charr revenants could be specifically trained as ghostbuster units (considering how Rytlock became one in the first place…)
Humans have the historical records and inclination to care about the legends, and if the legends do prove to all be nostalgia hits rather than introducing things we haven’t heard of as a way of introducing new lore, most of the legends will come out of human history. Humans also probably had the most developed ritualist tradition, with characters of Canthan extraction being especially fitting.
For norn it appears to be close to perfect when you look at it. Norn are a race focused on building and remembering great legends, and of the playable races they’re probably the one that is currently most attuned to the Mists proper. The revenant combines this with the warrior-like general nature of the norn.
Sylvari are possibly the hardest, since they don’t HAVE that historical connection, unless Ventari and/or Ronan are possible legends. However, it could be themed as sylvari curiosity wanting to experience the legends for themselves as well as investigating the Mists.
Personally, at the moment, I’m thinking norn – I already have two characters of each race apart from norn and asura, and it does feel more fitting for norn. Mind you, the theme of a Statics historian asura does have some charm…

The bigger issue to me is that it uses hammer animations – I’d hope for a combat staff to use its own animations rather than recycling hammer animations.
There’s also the element that staff is probably a standout candidate for a ranged option for the revenant. ArenaNet’s thinking may prove different to my own, but if they were to introduce mundane usage of a staff I’d expect it to be on a profession that isn’t likely to be using magic as their primary ranged option – the thief you mention being a good candidate. Of course, this depends on just how magical ArenaNet sees the revenant as being.
People don’t hate Scarlet like Game of Thrones fans hate Joffrey.
They hate her the way Star Wars fans hate Jar Jar Binks.
Probably Sylvari for me because the glow looks really cool on the Revenant.
This post basically confirms that arena net’s favourite race is sylvari.
Sylvari, unless they add some nice ritualtist hairstyles from GW1 to humans.
sigh…. i don’t like making humans but…. i’ll probably make a human female revenant. The only reason for this is almost every armor looks so good on them. I tried previewing stuff on a norn female but it’s not the same.
I was trying to make all my chars Sylvari, but I might make mine an Asura since I find the concept of an Asuran warrior, hilarious not only because something that small can be just as good as a huge Norn warrior per say, but because it works. Plus, they have sexy Cultural armor @tier 3 for Heavy armors.
Mine will be a charr female. Is one of the race/gender that i dont have yet.

Human. Always human.
Mine will be Norn, since they are all about spirits and communicating with them.
Plus this will round out my division of Priory/Order/Vigil characters when I sign him up to the Priory.
Which is a great combination! A Norn who is interested in all facets of the spirits, goes and works with the Priory, who then learns about many fallen heroes and villain within the Mists.
An Asura, because I cheeks almost as Asura!
Probably Sylvari for me because the glow looks really cool on the Revenant.
Errmahgerd show picz!!@
Sylvari, mostly as ankittento Rytlock for his racism in the trailer.

yea god forbid somebody doesnt trust a race of dragon minions…how dare he >_>
Anyways.. back to the theme…
fem charr for me like all my chars
I’ll likely remake my human male warrior into a Rev, if I get the expansion. (Still not enough information to make it a sure buy.)
It actually fits the backstory I had for him in an interesting way and I’d tried to make his armored look a bit … disconcerting. It should work well for a Rev.
delicate, brick-like subtlety.
While having another Charr in heavy armor might be a bit redundant for me, I’m also lacking in another Charr toon. I might give Sylvari another go on that front, but most likely will end up being a human after all is said and done.
Soraya Mayhew – Thief

Sad enough i will not be making a revanant. Why you ask i can’t play charr and norn, they are just to bulky and slow moving with their size. I know it’s the amimation they have and they are still as quick as the rest i just don’t prefer those races. And i do have a charr and norn just don’t pay them. As for the other 3 i have a human asura and a sylvari and i do enjoy playing them but just can’t play them roleplay wise -_-’ sorry. And a reroll on PS just doesn’t motivates me. If they add a new race that will give me a new challange and game experience. But that’s not gonna happen but still i hope for a big suprise that they say look new race ^^ cough Monkey king tonic cough
