Well, at first, it may be an odd question, but on a second glance (scroll down to Matthews Post) there is more to it than it seems. From all the characters, Braham has the least reason to mess with Scarlett from a character point of view. So what can Anet do to turn around this indifferent norn?

Well, if you played the infinity ball part of the asuran personal story you might have come to the conclusion that the shown characters emerged from the Scarlett storyline. One of the occurring characters mentions an attack on divinitys reach and hint on that they have taken over Lions Arch.

If thats what happens in the next Living Story Patches, if Divinitys Reach going to be sieged, parts of Queensdale will become contested and occupied by scarletts forces. Best suited for this would be a place that offers enough ressources and wood for Scarletts installments and isnt too easily accessible from the city for they could try an attack on her siege weapons.

Best suited for this would be a Region named Queens Forest. Unfortunately this is where most of the wild hogs are being hunted here and Braham didnt have time to hunt recently so he will probably get his ham from this region or just trade it for his own goods. So there’s gonna be a serious shortage of ham in a big perimeter.

Anet better turns this into a motivation for Braham. I suspect he’ll really be hurt by the loss of his precious ham and will now engage Scarlett with renewed zeal. Well.. exept the narrators find some other motivation for him to engage in the fight.. some minor motivation like saving Rox which might leading to her not joining the warband but instead keep on adventuring with Braham… but thats just kind of unlikely imo..

Since Braham is a Norn you’d expect that he’d do most of his eating in Hoelbrak so not sure how a ham shortage in krytra would impact him too much.

… Of course I must admit I don’t see too many farms in the Shiverpeaks (in fact what does the Norn diet exist of? Other than mead) so I’d imagine they rely heavily on imports. So that would support the initial argument.

However if a large portion of their food comes from abroad what do they export? They have to export something to cover the costs of the imports. Mead? I know they’ve got plenty of Mead. Paradoxically since they don’t remember seeing too many bees. In fact Shiverpeaks doesn’t seem to have any seasons other than winter so there goes bee keeping and mass farming.

So I guess if he likes the ham it’s probably wild boar (does wild boar still count as ham?), and his access to it would be limited.

they don’t farm. they hunt. they have their homesteads as a point of return, but most of the time they’re just nomadic hunter gatherers. they’re too individual to resort to importing, though a clever merchant might get some money by selling his products to individuals.

Im so glad we got dev confirmation of this. Not being sarcastic…. I love braham and im glad he likes ham.

That new Elite skill ‘Ham-Fisted’ is totally OP.

But Axe skill #3, ‘Pork-Choppah’ needs some work. The animation goes crazy on my Asura.

Molten troops raided his homestead and killed his friends. That seems like the most motivation of any of the characters to me.

Braham grew up in Craigstead, that’s like a five minute walk from Butcher’s Block, the home of Tyria’s greatest celebration of meat. Kasmeer’s father took her to Dragonbash, maybe Braham’s father took him to Meatoberfest to enjoy a nice glazed ham, a delicacy less common in the Shiverpeaks? Why isn’t the Living Story asking the important questions like these?

Wouldnt be too far fetched to say that Braham may be a Hamstorm Warrior himself. (Guardians using Flames and Swords, It would be awesome seeing him cripple and then Ascalon-Ghost-Firestorm somebody)

Scott even included the twist, that he likes bacon even more. Is it a hint about a Bacon Dragon that hides under Lions Arch? Think about it, the Lion Guard on Claw Island have used Signal-bacons all along..

I see, your too are a friend of GW1 lore? See that Ham and bacon are woven deeply into the history of GW. Its explicitly mentioned that Prince Bokka ate a lot of ham.

And in Kryta, quality Hogs almost went extinct at a Point (Partially because of the production of bacon) and later grew in numbers. (Probably, Dirk could buy another one to breed) This btw is still a mystery to the Community.

I haven’t heard her say anything along those lines, but if she did, I’d imagine it’d be “alakazam”, or a variation on it.
