Q:

Sooooo the elder dragons all seem to have their different ways of gaining control over creatures (and people). These ones are obvious to me:

Zhaitan – “Risen”
Jormag – “Icebrood” or “Corrupted”
Kralkatorrik – “Branded”
Primordus – “Destroyer”

For Jormag it says “Icebrood” on the wiki, but “corrupted” seems to be a an early stage of it.

I am confused about the other dragons. I realise that there is a chance that they don’t turn creatures into their minions. Tequatl seems to hang out with Zhaitan’s minions a lot.

But I wonder if the Jungle Dragon’s adjective could be “blighted”… as this is the only adjective that has come up in Maguuma (I’ve seen it in conjunction with the jungle worm and inside Twilight Arbor). Somehow I wish the “bloated creepers” were “blighted creepers”.

Secondly, the Deep Sea Dragon. I know that the wildlife on Southsun is probably crazed because the Consortium disturbed it or because of whatever it is that Canach is up to. But COULD “crazed” have anything to do with the Deep Sea Dragon?

My OCD wants all dragons to have an equal share of adjectives that go with them.

Regarding the Jungle and Deep Sea Dragons: What are your thoughts? I am hungry for answers, even if it is only speculation at this point. (I would also appreciate and links to older forum topics, I didn’t find any myself.)

A:

Blighted would make sense, given what little we know of Mordremoth – but what we know of Mordremoth is mostly speculation. A good thread to look at for this discussion is https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/lore/On-the-Sixth-Elder-Dragon-and-its-corruption/first

In the case of the DSD… the Southsun wildlife is ‘crazed’ because of something released by plants that Canach spread across the place. So if anything, it seems to be more likely to be Mordremoth-related than DSD related (although I’m inclined to think it’s more likely not dragon-related at all). Either way, I expect that when the DSD’s minions start to appear, they’ll have a more descriptive term than simply ‘crazed’. We just don’t know what its minions are yet.

To those who think Scarlet hate means she’s succeeded as a villain:
People don’t hate Scarlet like Game of Thrones fans hate Joffrey.
They hate her the way Star Wars fans hate Jar Jar Binks.

Thanks for the link, that’s very helpful.

I’ll keep my fingers crossed for “blighted”.

I don’t expect Canach’s antics to have anything to do with dragons either (similar to the molten alliance forming wihtout any doing of Primordius, as far as we know anyway). But it is fun to think the “what ifs”. ….

I’ve seen mentioned in other threads that some believe that the DSD might be the dragon that gets us back to Cantha. Anyone know of any lore or evidence that would make that plausible? If so, it would open up other possibilities for what it’s minions would be called.

Well, Jheryn, the thought comes from all indications – but no outright statements, mind you – that the deep sea dragon lies in the Unending Ocean. This leads folks to believe that sea travel to Cantha will be impossible until the DSD is dealt with – however, it should be noted that although the Unending Ocean is between Tyria and Cantha, it is not only there but elsewhere as well (though how large the Unending Ocean is, we don’t know).

And take note that my research from back then is several months old. A lot more things have been found since then, and a lot more interesting comparisons – regardless of how unlikely to tie to Mordremoth – have also been seen.

Isn’t the DSD corruption named tentacled?

They’re not named “tentacled” – the DSD’s only known minions would be water that was twisted into tentacle creatures.

Also, be careful with wooden potatoes’ videos. He has a tendency to mix theory with fact.

We do not have any names for the corruption that the DSD makes because we haven’t run into it. It would be like theorizing that Primordus’ minions are called Lava because they are fiery rock, when in fact they are Destroyers. It is best to just wait it out and hold out for SOLID information.

That’s true, but the OP (^^) invited speculation in this thread.
