For all you role players and lore junkies, tell me what you think about this lore:

The events of Guild Wars 1 take place a few hundred years ago, involving many peoples and races, some of which were our ancestors.

Our ancestors had contact with the Gods many of which sought the Strength and the Favor Of The Gods.

In our current time it feels contact with the Gods has greatly diminished and so must we pull together as a people to continue to move onward.

As a people we trudge onward, drawing on the Strength Of Our Ancestors, our last known link to these supposed Gods.

Well it’d be good if we could literally draw from their strength -coughcough-ritualist-coughcough- but I can kind of see your point. The human story doesn’t make a big deal about our ancestors, it’s more concerned with the present day and the troubles now, I would have loved to have seen more references but I dunno.

I do like this thought though.

The skill trainer in the ruined Eye of the North mentioned that the skills she once taught pale in comparison to the power the heroes now possess in GW2…

… seems like a kind of in-lore “power creep”. The magic we hold now dwarfs what we had back then, lore-wise.

I may be wrong. After all, our Human Gods had not abandoned us 250 years ago. sniff

Well it makes sense that with time comes more knowledge and the ability to learn new skills, so what was once an elite skill, may now be common knowledge, and even stronger skills are now coming into light through study of the arts.

In terms of modern heroes being more powerful than ancestors, as suggested by the ghost in the Eye of the North, it could be seen as a justification that back then max health (without sigils and stuff) was 600 whereas now its many times higher.

Many of the GW2 skills seem to be designed like GW1 elites. Most GW1 skills did only one thing or if they did more than one it would have a high energy cost or an elite. Many GW2 skills do multiple things or they can be traited to do multiple things.

Or how Guild Wars 1 elementalists couldn’t change attunements on the fly but had to prepare them in town or another safe place.

If you can read this then it is proof that ArenaNet’s moderators just, kind and fair.
