As I’m exploring, I keep running in to interesting little oddities, like…

Why is there a giant stone head in Shelter Rock?

What the Grenth is with the owl and raccoon in Queensdale?

Why is that troll just lying there in Lion’s Arch?

Why doesn’t the Scrying Pool still work?

How could the thing in Kessex Hills be an observatory, when it is all underground?

the troll ate some grapes, unfortunately, he was allergic and died
the scrying pool doesn’t work because tyria switched from analogue to digital in the 250 year gap
the observatory observed rocks, hence the undergroundness

I finally got to those stoopid grapes, and wouldn’t you know, the masters tool wouldn’t harvest them?! Bleh!

The observatory is referred to as the collapsed observatory, so it’s very likely to have crumbled upon itself and ended up hidden underground.

There was a female NPC in Snowden Drifts running around in short shorts a T-shirt and no sloes on while in the middle of a archery range… that one left me speechless for a good while.

Kaona, is she a norn? They don’t actually need to wear clothes to keep warm (if I remember right they like the shiverpeaks because it’s the one place they aren’t too hot), they just wear them because they want to.

It’s dead.

It’s flooded/broken/the character doesn’t know how to use it.

It’s a collapsed observatory. If you complete the jumping puzzle, you’ll see the dome of it is literally upsidedown.

Dear ANet writers,
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.

The others are probably right about the observatory, but…

There are actually underground observatories in real life. I kitten you not.

Neutrinos are chargeless particles (and I’m about to translate very imprecisely from science-speak to common English, so I warn you not to take my words too literally) that are basically so small that they can pass through the gaps in solid matter like it wasn’t even there. Observatories that are meant to catch neutrinos are built underground, in abandoned mines and such, because that’s the easiest way to filter out all the particles that aren’t neutrinos. They then go to a great deal of trouble trying to catch the neutrinos. It’s hard work that I’m glad I don’t have to deal with.

So, one way or another: Underground observatory, solved!

It’s possible that the scrying pool still works, the problem is that your character doesn’t have the True Sight or have gotten Closer to the Stars perhaps…

Another problem with the Scrying Pool is that it only seemed to work at certain points, might not be ready for use.

Droknar’s Forge itself is underwater. But if you are talking about the change in climate for the Southern Shiverpeaks then yes, it is now a lush forest. This is explained to be a result of the eruption of Mount Maelstrom, the volcano within the territory of the same name. Now my first thought was how does a volcano change the climate so drastically without loads of ash being spewed, etc.. but then I remembered, somewhere within that area (between the Bloodstone Caves dungeon entrance from GW1 and the area that was once the Ice Caves of Sorrow mission) there is a bloodstone underground. And no one knows what a power like that could do to the landscape.

Here’s another random hmmm…

Where did the krait with wings go?

Just in case peeps couldn’t tell… I’m being mostly rhetorical with questions. I’ve never seen an incorrupt troll corpse before

they died out whenairships were invented, they no longer had any reason to have the wings, so eventually, evolution (sped up by magic) took it’s course.

who knew that it would cause a subspecies to go extinct all because of a few krait ona pl…airship

For the most part the Krait with wings evolved from the Krait Nimross that shed their skin. So my first assumption would be that they have grown powerful since then and have lost the need to change their skin, which eventually lead to them losing the ability whatsoever. More than likely though it came from ArenaNet wishing to give the Krait a single defining look as opposed to multiple slightly differing looks.

Here’s a question for you… why is the crater that the Searing Crystal landed in suddenly a quarter of the size it used to be, if not smaller?

And for that matter, why have SO many parts of the world, including areas completely unaffected by the presence of dragons, suddenly have vastly different topographical structures? Like the massive maze of hills and boulders around Grendich Courthouse suddenly turning into rolling plains and farmlands.

The only thing I wonder is how the heck people living in some of the upper structures of Lion’s Arch come and go about their house?

Because I’ve been jumping all around LA and I can positively say some of those houses are 100% unreachable without an airship.
