I thought it would be fun to have one thread that contains a list of locations, items, NPCs, dialogue, ruins, etc. that link back to GW1. I noticed a couple of threads that already contain some of these finds such as Gwen’s grave at the Ebonhawke cemetery. I also created a thread about Pockmark Rough and it’s tie to Pockmark Flats and Serenity Temple in GW1. So please add to the list as you come across the lore finds from GW1.

Here are a few more that I know of:
1. In Divinity’s Reach you can find 3 kids playing; their names are Gwen, Jora, and Melonni.
2. In the harbor below the diving platform at Lion’s Arch you can still find the ruins of the original LA including the fountain.
3. If you do the explorable Arah dungeon mode, you can find Ogden Stonehealer. He’s still alive.
4. Of course, in the Plains of Ashford you can find the ruins of old Ascalon and the Barradin Estate. Also there is the statue of Balthazar. I remember the warrior trainer was located near this statue in pre-searing Ascalon.
5. Just south of The Black Citadel are the Ruins of Rin.
6. Underwater in the Mount Maelstrom area, I located some ruins said to be from Droknar’s Forge.
7 The Ascalon Settlement in Gendarran Fields has a cemetery with the grave of Captain Greywind. There are also ruins of the original settlement. I noticed that the settlement is still in about the right location compared to the GW1 map.
8. In Fireheart Rise, I found a burning forest (there’s even a skill point there) which reminded me of the one in Sacnoth Valley (Eye of the North) located not far from the Catacombs of Kathandrax. The Burning Forest seems to be in the same general area.
9. I’m sure most people have examined the book carts around Divinity’s Reach. There’s one by Mhenlo about the Luxons and a play I presume from Norgu. (I don’t remember the titles of these.)
10. Oola’s old lab can be found in Metrica Province.

It will be fun to see what everyone else has discovered.

The Granite Citadel in Dredgehaunt Cliffs. For the heart there you can decipher Dwarven tombstones (or something) which bear the names of the GW1 henchmen.

And of course there is this piece of dialogue from Rurikton in the Reach:

“Found any new scrolls?”
“Yes! I found some rather remarkable scrolls about a group of adventurers some centuries ago.”
“They escaped Ascalon right before the Searing, crossed the Kingdom of Kryta, joined and betrayed the White Mantle, and even faced a lich lord!”
“Wow. Maybe someday, we’ll meet heroes like that.”

All of this and you have not found the “Temple of Ages” in Queensdale yet? Shame on you.

Jokes aside:
Temple of Ages – Queensdale Skill Point in the swamp.
Dagnar Stonepate Dragon Blood Sword " The Sanguinary Blade" – Priory story path only.

I know not many would remember Dagnar Sword since it was only briefly mentioned back in GW1 lore during GW1’s early years about the stone summit but the story that Anet expanded on this sword in GW2 helps explains why the Stone Summit are evil and hint to what may have happened to the Stone Summit since we know that the sword was made out of dragon’s blood, as mentioned back in GW1, but now that we confirmed it is the blood of Jormag we can expect to see the Stone Summit again in GW2 once we reach the Jormag Act of the Story.

The charr lands are riddled with them. There is Ascolon city of course and the ones already mentioned.

- There is peices of stormcaller in the Black Citadel. There is also a priory scholar trying to find out what happened actually happened in the battle Burntfur died, down in the ruins.

- There is a priory member looking for the Tome of the Fallen down in the ruins of Rin. There is also a ghost who sometimes appears down near the water in that area that was curse by the book and who I think was the guy who gives you the bonus mission to return the Tome of the Fallen in GW1.

- There is a Searing Cauldron on an island in the Iron Marches that either is or is like the one that caused the Searing. Theres a DE where a group of Flame Legion attempt to use it to cause another Searing but it doesnt have enough juice and so only dumps a mini Searing on a nearby village.

- Also in the Iron Marches is the Ruins of Piken Square.

- Again in the Iron Marches is a Priory scholar studying an arch to try and discover something of her ancestor. This Ancestor it the Ghost in the very first Mission in Prophecies how asks you to collect his armor for the bonus mission. I assume the Arch is the place where you meet him in GW1.

- Nicholas the Traveler and Professor Yakkington both have graves in Ebonhawke along with several of the members of the Ebon Falcons.

- Jora’s decendent is a member of the Vigil and can be found in the instanced part of Vigil Keep.

- (SMALL SPOILER) Ogden is part of the Durmond Priory

- Stefan, the warrior henchman in prophecies is sadly one of the victims of the foefire and his ghost appears in a charr personal story (made me sad).

Ill post some more when I think of them.

Thanks to everyone who has posted here so far. I see I have many more sites to explore and NPCs to check out. I always find it exciting when I run into these places or items. I appreciate all the work ANET did to make sure there was continuity between the two games. =)

Also in another thread I posted info about Pockmark Rough which is almost identical to the crater-like basin with the giant crystal formation in Pockmark Flats. I remember killing quite a few elementals and wind riders there while on quests. The info at the site says it’s still the original crystal formation from the time of the Searing

One more location I forgot about before is Wizard’s Tower which you could see from Kessex Peak in GW1. It can now be seen from Wizard’s Fief in the southeastern area of Kessex Hills. It’s still on the floating rock island in the sky.

I located this spot in Iron Marshes. It is generally in the correct location for the first mission and the arch should be the entrance to his mausoleum or what’s left of it. Just as you mentioned his ghost was standing next to it when we did the bonus. Interestingly his name was Kilnn Testibrie and the Scholar is Aimee Testibrie. There’s a POI named Kilnn’s Rest.

Also the ruins of Grendich Courthouse are in Diessa Plateau.

Anyone who’s gone to the Durmand Priory in Lornar’s Pass has found where Ogden now lives, in a ledge under the Priory itself. In fact it’s a POI. By the way, Ogden, judging from the cutscenes in the Norn/Order of Whispers personal story, seems to have taken on the stone form since the events of EOTN.

While not a direct reference, I was quite alarmed by a very late branch of the Personal Story.

At the end of your level 77 personal story you decide whether you’re going to focus on a land attack, naval attack, or if you will investigate a recon squad that has gone missing. If you choose to investigate the recon squad, you find out that the Risen are nearly in possession of a Searing Cauldron. You secure the Searing Cauldron and actually use it against the Risen. “We have far more control over it than those primitive Charr shaman 250 years ago!” Thankfully they’re right, and it’s not nearly as catastrophic as the searing of Ascalon. I was worried that I was going to be responsible for decimating Orr more than it already has been.

I don’t remember if I ever saw the surnames of Alesia, Stefan, Reyna and Orion. If I did, I certainly didn’t remember them. That was a great find, and I didn’t recall the Iron Forgeman either.

Also in a previous post EdwinLi wrote about Dagnar Stonepate and the Dragon Blood Sword in “The Sanguinary Blade” – Priory story path only.

I know not many would remember Dagnar’s Sword since it was only briefly mentioned back in GW1 lore

At first I didn’t remember Dagnar Stonepate … but he was the one who appears in the cutscene where Rurik is killed. Stonepate, leader of the Stone Summit, comes riding in on his ice drake, causes the avalanche, and then murders Rurik.

There’s a woman in Divinity’s reach named "<don’t remember the first name> Malone, in the apple business (pre searing quest). from Delsabre

And of course how did I not remember this one … the apple orchard was not far from Fort Ranik and we had to help Mary Malone find her basket among some spiders.

Also, let’s not forget the graves at the ruins of the Granite Citadel, including Reyna’s, Alesia’s (I danced on it!), Little Thom (Nooo!), and a honking big stone for the dwarf… the myth… the legend!… Kilroy Stonekin!!!

Nobody yet mentioned Camp Rankor’s ruins, where the Priory was searching for the Tome of Rubicon, or Aurora’s Remnant, the part of Aurora Glade after the attuned portal (the path with the boss Root Behemoth).

Lornar’s Pass still has Grenth’s statue (back door to the Underworld).

Never seen in the game, but mentioned in War in Kryta quests, the village of Demetra – with Saul D’Alessio’s grave, no less.

Books:

The Aiden Journal – Aiden explains his dislike of towns and his desire for wilderness

Then there is a book by Wikki (I had a laugh over this name) Official Guide to Tyria where he tells a little about the history dating back 11,000 years. Interestingly … he notes that there are a number of continents on Tyria the planet, but only some have been explored.
