Y U NO VAEL?
Wellll, Vael was further north than we are presently able to explore wasn’t he? So perhaps we will just have to wait for the Northern Charr Homelands to be opened back up?

Vael is in the Ebon Vanguard. He should’ve gone south with Gwen.
4x Necromancer, 3x Mesmer, 4x Guardian, 4x Thief, 4 Revenant
There’s no mention of a lot of side characters from GW1. I mean, until the Ascended item with his name, there was only one off-handed mention of Vekk, and I don’t think there’s any mention of Hayda, Xandra, Olaf Olafsson (though there is one of his daughter), and many other EotN characters.
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.
Dangit Konig... now I’m going to have to go retrace my steps to find the other 3 mentions of Vekk I saw ... along with the reference to his Dad as well (it wasn’t as .....EXPLOSIVE *puts on sunglasses* ...as it could have been )
Gadd has a lab in the statics personal story where a hologram can be found… sadly, it doesn’t look even close to his GW1 model, nor is it even voiced by the same voice actor…
If there’s more than the 2 references to Vekk then neither does the wiki document such nor do I recall such. But it’s been a while since I did the asura storylines.

I got the impression that Vael was a free agent who was working at the time for the Ebon Vanguard. The guy was pretty secretive. It wouldnt suprise me if we found no mention of him.
It would be an interesting twist if we found out he was actually a Whispers agent. It would kind of fit the guy though why the Order would have been helping the Ebon Vanguard is anyones guess. We dont even no for sure if they had a presense that far north at the time. Or do we?
Either way, I imagine any reference to him would be subtle. He struck me as the type of guy to cover his tracks.
I wouldn’t doubt that Vael was an Order of Whispers agent. Nor would it surprise me if the so-called ‘the Order’ was in fact the Order of Whispers.
Vael is known to have had multiple names (known to the Ebon Vanguard as Nathanael, known to us as Vael). He’s said to have traveled to other continents, and is said to be a freelance mercenary from Ascalon working for the Ebon Vanguard (that’s what Langmar believes, at least).

Yeah, was gonna say, he’s not really out in the open and prominent as other GW1 heroes, so making a direct mention of a nameless whisper would be rather weird. And as Konig said, he went by many names, so who knows if he was referenced
Hahahah. All my characters in-game are called Vael after the gw1 character Vael. I’m right here
Unimportant NPC in the long term of gw lore many chars from gw1 are more deserving
Devona, Cynn, Mhenlo, Aiden, the GW1 PC and Eve for example

You actually managed to write Aidan & Devonna wrong :P

Vael is cooler than every single one of them. To be honest, many NPCs are cooler than anyone of those fools, except Aidan. He’s a total bro.
What I agree though, we need references to the GW1 PC. Nothing, we’ve got nothing. Not even the HoM resembles in any way the HoM that I left. Is it so hard to atleast display the tapestries?
But no, as we all know since Ghosts of Ascalon, Gwen is the greatest hero of humanity. Yes, because all she did was whining about the Charr, Kieran and how she had no childhood. That’s a much greater deed that killing a fallen god or ending a civil war…

Nah, just Aidan. Devona has only one ‘n’.
I troll because I care

Not to mention unleashing a Lich from his eternal prison to run amok in Elona. Also isn’t Vael a Centaur from Elona? Why would there be anything about him this far north? Yes there were refugees from Elona but How I saw it there would be no peace between Centaur and Human until either race lay dead before the other’s feet.
Chaos always finds a way, who you think Evil learned it from?

Vael is most definitively not centaur. You are probably thinking of Zhed

I thought his name was Vael…oops. Well since that been clarified probably there no Vael because he supposed to be ‘mysterious’.

Considering where the player encounters Vael in GW1, I find it unlikely that we will hear of him until we are allowed to venture further north and into the Flame Legion homelands. As he was not actually Ebon Vanguard, but rather a mercenary with an apparent vendetta against the char, I find it unlikely that he would have headed south to Ebonhawke during the recall, and thus that is why we see no reference to him there or in DR.
I foresee some sort of quasi guerrilla attack force founded by Vael operating in Flame legion lands.
Also realize that Vael was meant to be mysterious…. http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Vael
