Aetherblade story dungeon vs jumping puzzles
Your right I don’t have to do this story but I did pay at least $60 like everyone else. Shouldn’t I be able to accomplish everything?
Absolutely not. You have to earn your rewards, not get them handed to you on a golden plate. Next thing you’ll want is a legendary every time you log-on. But hey, you payed 60$ so you’re entitled to that.
You should be able to accomplish everything if you put in the time to practice and get good at it. If you have a physical handicap they can’t really help you with that and although I don’t want to be mean here, they shouldn’t help out. It would be unfair to others who have to put in the time and effort to get the achievement that you’re given practically for free or with minimal effort. And let’s not get into how this would be abused by those who aren’t truly handicapped like you :/
My only advice to you is, try getting hardware that helps you out. A keyboard that’s easier to work with can help. Key sizes and spacing vary a little between keyboards but make a considerable difference in your capabilities. Also consider one of the many MMO mice to put more buttons right at your fingertips.
Everyone paid for the game. The "I paid for it so I should get ‘x’ " argument is baseless and wreaks of entitlement.

There is no choice for me to COMPLETE this story. I did 11 out of 12. Is that giving away the reward? Not one idiot from a-net has ever bothered to respond to scalable dungeons. Normal, hard, and super hard modes? The dungeon is horrible but who cares about casual players. A-net already has our kitten money. I can tell you one thing, they won’t get any more. It would be nice if casual normal mode players spoke out about the WoW super hard core players taking over….
I absolutely agree with Fristyraziel.1854
The rewards have to be earned. Can’t everything be easy and with no effort.
Cry me more OP,but someone who put more time and effort should be rewarded more.

We’re not talking ascended armor here, this is a gold mini. It is NOT too much to ask that a better mix of achievements be made for living world content. Keep the hard content for pro players but why block a large portion of the playerbase from earning a mini to commemorate their achievements? The difficulty is ramping up with every release, soon it will cater only to the pro player. I guarantee you ArenaNet will not be able to keep releasing content every two weeks if casual players are left behind and stop spending money on GW2.
I don’t mind difficult jumping puzzles. What I do mind is the bad platforming mechanics and the terrible camera that have plagued the game since release.
Difficulty wise you can always find a mesmer to teleport you to the end of the JP, that’s not really an issue. But the bad controls and bad camera really break my heart. Plus, I notice that the developers often do not take into account the many camera issues. Almost every JP in the game has spots where they didn’t leave enough room for the camera, so it zooms right on top of your character, and you can’t see diddly-squat! I also dislike constantly running into situations where I can’t visually tell if a platform is slanted or not. This could easily be remedied by giving the platforms you’re suppose to jump on a different texture. But no, they have you jumping across some rocky surfaces with all the same texture, and one bit may or may not be slanted. As pretty as the game is, that’s just poor art direction.
Take for example that one rock that you need to jump on, before jumping across that row of tubes (near the start). There’s a cache nearby, and some aetherblades, and the tubes are above this rusty pipe that you walk over, and the last two tubes are a little bit closer together… you know the spot. People constantly need to hop on that rock, every time they slip off the tubes. But it is such a frustration to get on there. Part of it is slanted, causing you to slip off, and causing the camera to go hay-wire instantly. So you’re fighting the controls and the camera at the same time, for what is just one stupid rock that isn’t even a hard jump to begin with.
There’s another bit at the top, when you leap towards those floating jump pads towards the goggles. First you have to jump up a piece of wall, with again some slanted stuff that is really hard to see. And then it turns out the level designer didn’t leave enough room for the camera, causing it to zoom in on your character… and now you can’t see where you’re jumping. Always leave enough room for the camera!
And then there’s the problem with the jump pads. They are quite unreliable. They don’t always launch you high enough to make the jump, and part of this may have to do with the falling damage you get if you stay on them. They also tend to move you to the side, so I often can’t safely stay on top of a jump pad to study the jump itself. Even if you’re not touching the controls, your character will often not stay dead center on top of the jump pad by him/herself.

You think we hardcore gamers ruin games. Well hardcore gamers think casuals ruin games. You can’t have your cake and eat it too. Quite frankly, your almost finished with it all so why are you kittening? Sounds like your mad that it was a challenge.
It’s very, very unfortunate that you’re handicapped, however that means you can’t do some content. Unfortunately this is a harder content patch, based around dexterity. You can’t complete it because you’re physically not able. That said, you’re not able to complete an Ironman triathlon either. Kitten happens. I feel bad for you but nothing can change that.
We all have things we can and can’t do. Colourblind people can’t do anything based on red circles, and you’d be surprised how many people are red-green colourblind.

Yes, the jump pads are laggy and glitchy as kitten. It is probably the one thing ANet shouldn’t have taken away from the SAB to introduce it in the rest of the game. First Dragonball, then Aetherblade dungeon, then the jumping puzzle. We may never get rid of them again.
Do you hear that, otherwise-ly totally awesome Josh Foreman? Every time the jump pads glitch out on us, we shake your fist at you.

Come on guys, the OP isn’t asking for a lot, just some more variety in the ways to complete this meta. If it was for an exotic bit of armour, or something that is super valuable and game-changing I could almost agree, but this is for a mini. A memento of the event, that’s all.
I think, sure, have harder achievements that not everyone can get. Go ahead and tie gear drops into it if you like, whatever. But everyone should be able to get something. He’s not asking for it for free. He’s already got 11 achievements, that’s three more than the last meta was, and these achievements were all harder to get, where the last ones were just “go here and press F”. It’s not a free ride for anyone.
I’m all for hard stuff that not everyone can get, but this content patch was crazy for all but a small proportion of the playerbase, one way or another. And every time people get demoralised and quit, that’s fewer players to fund the cash shop running of the game.
If the Living Story is being touted as the future of the game, it’s no good saying “Well you don’t have to play it”, because you are basically saying “Well don’t play the game”. And if that’s the answer to everything, the game starts to fall apart.
People are entitled to make criticisms if they think there is a problem. Will it change anything? I don’t know. But there’s no call to go around saying that people’s opinions are invalid because they’re not up to some arbitrary standard that other people are setting.
I personally don’t think challenges should be lessened due to there being people that have some sort of handicap (as much as I sympathize with their condition of course). But there are plenty of players that do want this level of challenge. If we were to limit all the hard content to people with a disability, we’d have no challenge left for the none handicapped (and I know that’s not what the OP is asking). I do think however that it should be possible for everyone to at least get the achievement rewards in some other way, if they are not good at platforming.
My biggest criticism is on the way the platforming is implemented in general. I think it is made frustratingly difficult due to bad design and bad mechanics. Something that could be (and hopefully eventually will be) fixed. More waypoints would remove a lot of the annoying repetition, and better mechanics would make it less trial and error. Better art direction and better level design, would make it easier for players to see the jump itself, and judge distances. And a better camera would mean that the challenge is more about the jump, and less about fighting the camera at the same time.
I don’t think the jump pads are a bad idea btw. I thought they were a lot of fun in Super Adventure Box. But I’d like to see the bugs with them fixed, before they are implemented.

Solution: Portals! Portals for everyone!
Get a friend to port you. Since you’re handicap, I’m sure they will be able to accommodate you!

^This, this… 100 times this. I certainly wouldn’t support making a dungeon or jumping puzzle easier if the payout were something exotic or powerful. In fact, I’m not even saying make dungeons or jps easier, just give more variety to the achievements needed to earn “fluff” rewards. Knowing the dungeon was very hard and knowing two of the jps were very hard, what would be the negative effect of requiring 11 achievements to earn the mini, or having one or two more novice achievements?
I don’t think most casual players are really looking for everything in the game to be handed to them, at least i’m not. I’d even be fine with the achievements as they were if I had more time to get one of the hard jps or beat the dungeon.
I haven’t looked at the achievements for the latest living story but I know there are 24ish and you have to complete 16, so maybe they’ve already added more variety. I certainly hope they did, especially for something as critical as a resource node.
Give me more options to earn the fluff items and more time for the good stuff, is that too much to ask?
ANet is as much in love with jumping and other platform mechanics as they seem to be with knocks. This does not improve the game for folks who are not as gifted with manual dexterity skills as others. While I am not in favor of handing things out for nothing, I believe it is not unreasonable to ask for a greater variety of achievements to obtain the uber-achievement for “get x of x+y.” Greater variety as in requiring skills other than twitch and jumping. Explorable mode dungeons, supposedly the hardest content in the game, do not require such feats, ergo it isn’t about hard versus easy, it’s about favoring one demographic over another.
This release is pretty jump heavy. I can see why there would be people that didnt like it. However there is always a thing with balance. Multi difficulty dungeons for example take alot of extra work to adapt and balance, particularly for a story dungeon.
Id say its a fair criticism that the Jumping Elements in this release are very limiting. Its near impossible to get to the top without doing some jumping unless you have help from a mesmer. Having Jumping as the focus of a release however isnt a problem as long as it isnt always the focus of the release.
With value now put on Achievement points, it would make sense to make Metas easier to hit for players looking for an easier mode (I dont think casual is a good word to use cause Im a casual player and I like hard content even if I cant finish it). That way the hard mode Achievements would offer reward in addition AP and perhaps titles and such while easy mode would still allow players to be involved in the story.
Its worth noting whoever that generally development of content and changing of features requires alot more work than most gamers actually think it does. Even apparently simple looking changes can require very large time and resource commitments to design, construct, program and QA.
